The incandescent little stone of certainty in his chest has exploded into smithereens, and he keeps walking until he's as far from the back deck as he can be, until his feet hit the water. He stares down at the stony ground, feels the gritty sand between his toes, tries to focus on the rippling sound the water makes as it gently hits the shore just so he can stop hearing Henry's words echo over and over in his head.
