okay americans i gotta ask because as an European i grew up with lots of american shows and cartoons and in a lot of them there was an episode where they give the protags a doll or an egg or a bag of flour or whatever and told them pretend to be its parents or something
#it confused me so bad to watch this premise in so many shows#because like#the kids always took it seriously. they were giving that bag of flour a name. they were talking to it. they were putting it in little hats#while acting like they HAD to do it. because of the class#even tho there was no teacher in sight#they parented that flour in the privacy of their own homes. why were they doing all that#prev tags#that's true like#once the teacher is gone you can just leave the bag of flour in your room and not do anything#and then when the teacher asks you just like “look we didn't lose it or damage it see”#A+#you don't have to actually parent the thing it's not like a class pet that's an actual living animal (we did have class pets in my school)#tho like the younger the protags are the more believable it is. like a teenager in highschool wouldn't give 2 shits about a bag of flour#but really small kids would see it as a game and take it seriously. like how little kids like to play mom with their toys and stuff#so the younger the characters are the more it makes sense (or if it's a really dumb character)

The way Luz's thank you drawing got rejected by the person it was for when she thought she finally found someone who wouldn't make fun of her for her eccentric behavior, that she is worthless..and then the drawing does get recognized, that it's beautiful and why would it get thrown away. She was finally understood (I am in shambles help-)

The pilot is just SUCH a good character establishing introduction for Amity. YES she can be icy and judgemental and a bit of a bitch but the key thing about her is that she's not a bully. She's not especially empathetic and only stood up for Luz because her autistic ass was getting overstimulated with how loud and shrieky all of the kids teasing Luz were. She didn't actually care. It demonstrated her personality perfectly. A girl who's too absorbed in her own school work to think about the people around her, but also not somebody who takes any pleasure in being mean to others and tries to avoid it if possible.
When Luz gave her the drawing, Amity clearly found it cringe and weird but she tried her best to be polite about it. She would prefer to just smile and nod so she doesn't hurt anyone's feelings and then talk shit about them in private.
She's not NICE, but she's not a bully. And that seems to be what canon TRIED to portray her as, but it was all standing on shaky foundation because she was introduced by bullying somebody.

i was just thinking about kronk from the emperors new groove and i thought to myself "hey so it seems like kronk is a bottom"
and then in my head i heard kronks voice and he said "nono, im asexual."
and the thing is normally all of my thoughts happen in MY OWN voice. and the fact it said "i" not "he" makes me think that the spirit of kronk entered my head for a second to set the record straight about his sexuality. so. kronk is ace, guys.
