A plague that causes a disease to afflict the lower body has slowly caused more and more senior officials from both Republican and Nationalist sides to go to hell. Not realising this, both sides are still trying to fight with each other, ignoring the peace of the country and their own safety.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Luftwafte have flown in and bombed all major cities in Spain. As Hitler laughs to himself in the mirror, the sounds of civilians moaning in (s)PAIN can be heard.

Betrayal

In a stunning turn of events, Alfonso Castelao, after his previous defense of Galicia against von Thoma and other nationalist forces, has chosen to declare independence and work with the nationalists. Newly-arrived reinforcements from Vincente Rojo Lluch are shocked and are contemplating whether to remove Castelao from power.

29 July 1937

In the midst of the people's cries, multiple military developments have taken place.

Firstly, 500 Nationalists at Luigi Ragazzi were wiped out by a regiment from Jose Diaz, twice the number of their men. The Republicans suffered 400 casualties though.

Next, 15k of Diaz's men have pummelled Valera's regiment. Valera's regiment now stands at 500 men who are retreating. 3000 of Diaz's men died in the process but they managed to capture 30 AA guns (80mm flak), what will the nationalists do in response? Will they just keep continuing this back and forth endlessly? Oh my.

Finally, an anonymous message has spread in the population:

“In a recent speech in the Spanish parliament, Lluis Companys has openly flaunted his love for the devilish Republicans, the puppet of the soviets, and the executioners for the people. He claimed to uphold ‘Republican ideals’, ideals of oppressions and authoritarianism, and ideals of persecuting religion, farmers, and people. People of Catalonia, the Nationalist party have your back. Rise, Catalonia, topple your corrupt ruler, like we have done so many times before!”

An uproar has ensued as the people, already unhappy about the constant fighting, realised that there have been foreign powers meddling in their affairs - especially a foreign power as colonising and imperialistic as the Soviet Union… but then again, have the nationalists not been using foreign-made equipment as well?

With all the happenings and pretentious speeches, I guess the Republicans really do not hear their people sing...

Weeks have passed yet battles remain, despite civilians’ will to end the war totally. People across the nation have taken to protests against the continuation of the war, and they even have a protest song to urge their leaders to end the war. Can the Republicans hear their people??

After a series of Republican victories, the Nationalists have struck back, killing 10000 troops total in Madrid in a scintillating display of heavy artillery fire (8000 Lluch, all 2000 of Prieto's force). What a smashing display #lol The war seems like it will never end.... (The war ending? Pass)

A recent joint offensive by Roatta, Thoma and Franco -- with the benefit of Sperrle's air advantage-- have successfully wiped out 10,000 of Lluch's troops, though the Republicans are still holding the fort in Madrid....

How long will this drag on for?

2 July 1937 

Almost a year has passed since the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, and people are tired. The constant casualties and bloodshed have taken a toll on the psyche of society, and people are increasingly calling for a peaceful solution. International countries are also pushing for the anti-war agenda as countries like France lose the interest in supporting the Republican cause. Most significantly, the willpower in both troops are declining. Will both sides choose to unite and negotiate? Or will they choose not to relent and risk dividing the country further?

Miaja's force took no prisoners, destroying all 1500 of Roatta's men at Toledo. Not even God can resurrect the fallen men...

Sabotage

Taking advantage of the chaos in Valencia, Miaja's men have destroyed the fuel supplies for the Orsas-class torpedo boats, making them unusable and vulnerable in port and weakening the Nationalist navy.

Massacre at Navarre

1st March 1937 Following a brilliant ambush by Vincente Rojo Lluch, Mola's men have been crushed and he has suffered 5000 casualties, and the Nationalist troops in the vicinity have taken significant casualties and are in retreat. Lluch's troops are now rushing to Pamplona, and will take the city if no Nationalist troops intercept them. Despite Nationalist air attacks, diligent preparation by Lluch has ensured that his troops took relatively few casualties. However, under the surface of this glorious victory, long-term problems surface. Military equipment like artillery barrels and tanks are experiencing wear and tear, and the movements of Republican troops has resulted in much indignation from the people, as Republican requisitioning has resulted in the devastation of the land.

Battle Along CV-500

After valiant attacks from Marty, Azana and Diaz, the forces of Valera and the Corpo Truppe Volontarie were attacked en route to Cartagena and have been forced to retreat to Valencia. Marty has taken the brunt of the casualties, losing 25 tanks and 3000 troops. Azana has lost 2000 troops. Diaz, benefiting from the actions of her allies, has only lost 500 troops. The nationalist forces have lost 8000 troops. The remaining republican forces are now at Silla, on the outskirts of Valencia. It is up to them whether they want to press the attack.

Battle of Totana

Nationalist General Gonzalo sent his troops on a march to the currently undefended Cartagena, and luckily Republican forces responded with haste as Carbrera's Expeditionary force immediately withdrew to regroup with the defending forces, with the total troops numbering 13500 men.

However, Gonzalo's skilled 7000 men and 50 advanced tanks are blazing through the valiant defending forces at Totana, downing the less skilled Republican troops like flies, with a victory here possibly guaranteeing Nationalist control of Cartagena. The situation is getting tense... are reinforcements coming?

Sudden attack!

Nationalist forces on the East of Spain were caught by surprise when 10 ships from Miajia's fleet in Cartagena moved to attack them there. Though they were too distant to attack the Corps Truppe Volotarie, Varela's regiment reduced from 9000 to 8000.

Leaked information has shown that the Nationalists, specifically their phantom division, is preparing to launch an offensive on Marty's 1st Expeditionary Force. Panic settles in the Republicans

Terror in the skies

2 February 1937

On exactly 7am, Jose Miaja's squadron of 350 planes flew past the skies of Granada, raining down hellfire on anything they can see. As ammunition is gradually used up, there was extensive damage on the infrastructure of the concentrated Nationalist forces.

This is divine punishment for the reckless concentration of Nationalist forces in Granada, and is seen as a total victory with great foresight from Miaja's side. This success has been widely praised in the streets, as many people now look up to the Republican strategic use of airpower.

However, upon arriving back to the airbase to refuel, the pilots realised that there was insufficient fuel prepared by the airbases, which are experiencing a supply crunch, and cannot engage in further operations until new supplies are procured, which is a real shame.

New appointment: Marty becomes minister?

BREAKING: Azana has just appointed Andre Marty to become the third co-minister of the treasury, together with Indalecio and Lluch, purportedly with the support of military generals in council.

In his speech, Jose Giral expressed to the public his support: "Mr Marty has garnered the support of most military generals in the council. Please continue to give him full trust and confidence as he leads the country."
