hey fellas, this is what I’ve been working on for the past week or so! quite happy I managed to get it done in time for taylor’s birthday 😳😳

I saw this the other night and had a great time. It was weird seeing it that soon after Broadway closing, so getting used to small regional production values was my first obstacle, but I got over it. 

This production leaned into the ‘80s-ness of it all, with the ensemble in semi-workout clothes and Philoclea in legwarmers. Inexplicably, Dametus and Mopsa seemed to be styled like Boy George and Cyndi Lauper, though there didn’t appear to be any other similar tributes throughout. And as the family migrated from Arcadia, projected backgrounds showed the Golden Gate Bridge, rolling hills like in the East Bay, Muir Woods, and a jungle. Mopsa’s vacation was in Palm Springs and the ensemble had golf clubs.

Go see it if you’re in the area! You have until Jan. 12.

Hi! I'm auditioning for Head Over Heels the musical, and I need audition song ideas. I'm a tenor!

That sounds insanely fun! I would say uptempo 80s is the way to go. A Go-Go’s song not featured in the show would be a safe bet (or barring that another group of similar time period and style like The Bangles or Blondie. Something else in the pop-y indie rock sort of sound.)Pop/Rock songs I’d recommend looking at (Also the great thing about pop music is you can transpose it however much you need an no one will care–at least that’s what I have been taught/have seen): Hero Takes a Fall by the Bangles or Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield.

Also other pop/rock musicals (ESPECIALLY other jukebox musicals) would  be great. Rock of Ages could have some good material since it’s basically like the 80s vomited all over the stage. If you’re more in the mood for a ballad for this show “Dreamer in Disguise” from Carrie is one of the best pop/rock musical tenor pieces. Break legs!!
