Just for today, lets don't be nice. Seriously, there is no room in my life for nice anymore.

I don't have time for nice. I don't have the energy to be tepid, to walk in the middle of the road, to not care one way or another. I am on fire and cannot slow down to be nice.

I pray to be good to do good to reflect God's love which He pours out constantly lavishly undeservedly and I open myself to the prompting of the Holy Spirit that everything I do and say and text and see and hug and laugh at and discover and share is found worthy and proper I fight to love some people I scrub my eyes to see them as God does I crack my bones to be His hands and feet I strive to love unconditionally those who find me annoying too loud too scattered too much of a muchness because my Creator is not nice my God is not "meh, whatevs".

He is jealous for me, He is ready for you, and you me we all of us need to drop this nice act this fake smile act and we need to holler from the roof that we are ready to love we are ready to see we are ready to go and be because yes this side of heaven is weird and uncomfortable but we are not made for this side of heaven and we ain't home yet.

People call me a lot of things but naive is never one of them. It's not stupid to choose joy, it's smart - it's lazy and trust me I choose lazy every day of the week. I don't have the weight of the world on my shoulders, I don't have to fix everything all by myself, I'm not going through this by my lonesome, I've got God in my corner and that means He has got this covered. Regimes crumble, toes get stubbed, brains break, mouths flap, and in the midst of all of it, I choose joy. It is not a rainbow-sprinkle-glitter-bomb joy but a hard-fought, cried-over, resolute, clear-eyed joy in my God. I have drawn my line in the concrete and with Christ I'm over here on this side: failing wildly, disappointing deeply, constantly questioning yet choosing every morning JOY and every evening too. Don't listen to me, I'm a deeply flawed idiot who drinks too much coffee, laughs way too loud, and only gets cardio by wandering down rabbit trails. Listen instead to my Lord, Jesus Christ, who loves the crap out of you, sees the best in you, and died for you, slaying sin and conquering death. We were not made for this side of heaven and we ain’t home yet. Choose joy, choose love, choose eternal life. Jesus came for everyone, even you. Turn your heart towards joy and trust that you are loved. I don't have all the answers, some days I don't have any answers (even to easy questions like 'why are there two pairs of shoes by your desk?' or 'is your tent airborne again?') but I promise you I will help you with your questions, I will pray with you, I will point you back to Jesus, and I will, with all my light, try very hard to love you even if I won't hug you.

My BFF and mentor TOZER bringing it hard! No, T-man and I never officially met but that matters none percent but Tozer is BAE and BACON and all things good. He is challenging, he is illuminating, and he points always back to the source! Go and be blessed because you are blessed by a Father who loves you complete 100% done. This side of heaven is full of "I don't knows" and what-ifs and pain and frustration but we are not made for this side of heaven. God is pursuing us, calling us, refining us, lavishing us with love and wildness all in His big glorious plan for us. There is no limit no box no taming my God for He is complete holy unchangeable unshakable unstoppable and unending. I pray to walk in His light so I may reflect it. I pray to love because He loved me first. May I die to myself more and more each day and may I be ridiculous for Christ. I don't have all the answers and if someone tells you they do, run like you are on fire away from them. I don't have an easy way to get through his life and if someone tells you they do, pat them on the head and bless their heart and run. Flee the wide path! Search with your heart pointed towards the cross! You are ridiculously abundantly blessed so start acting like it. You are loved beyond the telling of it by a Savior who conquered death just for you. Just go and love the crap out of everyone and stop limiting God because it just won't work, not ever.

IT IS NOT GOING TO BE FINE.

Now you know that you can relax you can let go of the lie that is “fine “the myth of the “ok” the trap of the “tepid” because it will be *glorious* it will be *exhausting* it will be *hilarious* it will be *soul-wrenching* it will be confusing it will be crystal clear it will be amazing it will be miraculous it will be Heavenly Father ordained Christ blessed and Holy Spirit graced but IT WILL NEVER BE FINE because your God did not create this incredible universe your Christ did not conquer death and slay sin your Holy Spirit does not strengthen and support your faith none of that happens just so you can be fine spit that word out of your mouth and do not settle today until you live in the land of ridiculous love do not stop until you have spilled out all your grace and love and forgiveness do not ever think you can outlove outgive or outwork God because when you give up fine you have space for the miracles around you when you give up fine you see the opportunities for ridiculous love and when you give up fine you discover the wonderful person God has created you to be and maybe just maybe you start to like her a little more than you did yesterday.

Baby, let me hold your hand while I tell you this. Learning English is rough, hard enough to do from birth but learning it as a grown-up? It’s a gold-medal feat amazing beyond magic. People who speak more than one language are aces in my book and adults who take on learning a new language are superheros. We are created by the Creator to find connection however we can and when a person can do that in more than one tongue that is a miracle worth singing about.

There is so much fun left to have in this year, so many wonderful things yet to happen, let us not rush forward to usher in the new, not just yet. The joy does not disappear after Christmas! Let us be the people of the day after, the long game, the big picture. It is one thing to scream frothing at the mouth KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS, it is a very nother thing, a very harder thing I think, to keep Christ in December 26. So let us, you and me, we wring out every drop of joy/grace/laughter/tears/stillness/galloping/silliness/wonderfulness out of this year before we ring in the undiscovered country of the new year and what will be. We are, never doubt, given a new chance each day, each minute even if there aren't fireworks or glasses raised. We have celebrated Christ's birth and now it is time to celebrate His life!
