"Can you just let me breathe for once and get off my back?" he snaps, keeping his back to Izuku.

"It's annoying how you stick to me and follow me around all the time, y'know... You can be a real eyesore."

There's a distinct chill to his tone, Rody keeping his eyes trained on some void beyond the ground. His hands were slung low into the pockets of his oversized coat, fingers clenching so hard into fists that he swore he could feel blood seeping out from between the cracks.

"And what's with that nonsense about wanting to 'be a hero who saves people with a smile'? We aren't kids anymore, so give it up. You guys are all the same, you'd just say anything to make yourselves feel better!"

Rody's voice rises in volume and takes on a broken, tremulous quality- The familiar sting of tears gathering in the corners of his narrowed eyes.

"Everyone knows what you're really after: Fame. Money. I know, because I'm the same way... You're no hero. Just another guy who lucked out with a good Quirk Why don't you do us both a favor and get the hell outta my sight."

Silence permeates the space between he and Midoriya, only broken by some quiet, distressed noises emanating from Pino. The tiny pink bird was practically waterlogged with tears, staring forlornly at the other boy until she finally launched off of Rody's shoulder to fly towards Izuku.

  he blinks, staring at the other with wide eyes.  oh, had he been mean ??  hand moves up to rub against the nape of his neck, shifting on his feet slightly.  “i wasn’t trying to be mean.”  he admits, hand dropping before giving a shrug of his shoulders.  “i guess … sometimes … i can come across that way, though.”

Well, shit.

Rody had just been messing around, but Japanese people were supposed to be super polite- Did he just make a cultural faux pas on his first day overseas?

“H-hey, I was just kidding! Don’t worry, don’t worry~” he insisted, waving his hands a bit in his haste to smooth over the situation.

“So... You’re in a Hero Program, right? What’s your hero name?” he asks, genuinely curious.

I’m making a Transfer Student verse for Rody, which is basically just going to be Class 1-A being that “Is he gay or European” meme.

Things that get glossed over in World Heroes Mission that enrage me:

- Rody, Roro, and Lala having their home vandalized and basically being driven out by the rest of the community due to the assumption that Eddie was actually a Humarise member all along.

- The fact that Pro (and even lower ranking) Heroes don’t even bother patrolling the slums Rody and his siblings currently live in because they ‘don’t make any money’.

- Rody “I saved the entire world and all I got was this lousy t-shirt and a part-time job at a bar” Soul

- Adult Humarise members shooting actual guns at the kids working with Pro Heroes and the Pros just being fine with that I GUESS.

- Class 1-B’s involvement, but what else is fucking new.

- Rody having grown up believing that everyone will eventually betray you because it DOES happen to him, “all the time”.

- If Rody had gone back to Stanleyk’s without the jewels, he would have been killed (possibly tortured) by the criminals expecting him to make the drop-off.

- The students losing at least 10 gallons of blood during their respective fights, except Todoroki, who just gets drowned for like 35 minutes, nbd. This is totally acceptable and just part of the risk that comes with Hero work amirite.

I actually saw this in a fanart piece, but I LOVE the concept of Pino getting bigger and all sleek as Rody ages, almost like a sicklebill bird of paradise in appearance.

“Oh, thank heavens. Exactly what I wanted.” Sarcasm drips HEAVILY from their voice, slightly muffled by the mask they wear. There’s a faint whirring sound, too, as the lenses of the mask focus in on Rody’s silhouette through pseudo vision, now intent on keeping as close of an eye on him as possible– eventual migraine from overuse be damned. There is not an OUNCE of trust in their body, small as it may be, for the unbound broker. Truth be told, they’d sooner trust Giran– though maybe that’s a moot point, since Tooru’s severed their own ties with the League. So Giran isn’t exactly an option anymore.

No use dwelling on that, though– Tooru moves on quickly, attention returning to Rody. Talon-decorated fingers twitch slightly in a sign of their displeasure, but they at least have the courtesy to refrain from actually lashing out. A sour mood is no excuse for unnecessary bloodshed, after all. 

“Is there something you want, or are you here just to be a nuisance? If that’s the case, do us both a favor and choose someone else to bother. I’ve got work to get done, you know.”

“That’s exactly why I’m here, y’know: WO-R-K,” he enunciates, wagging his index finger playfully, as though chiding a naughty student.

“I’m just saying, if you need some information about the market for Trigger or any other little goodies trading hands, then I’m your guy. Before you split with the League, they were privy to some interesting details about your Boss’ plans. I’m simply offering my services to help make that reality.”

"Hoh? For doing what, exactly?" Rody asks, feigning innocence.

Truth be told, he hadn't been caught doing anything illegal... Yet, but still. Being hassled by the hepped up mini hero wasn't good for his image, especially if any of his clients happened to see that he was being snooped upon.

"This is harassment, y'know? Unless you have some evidence of nefarious wrongdoing, I'm completely free to go about my business. Or should I notify whatever pro you're working under to report that their fledging is making baseless accusations against an innocent civilian?"

He was bluffing, of course- There was no way he'd call for an adult pretending to be a 'hero', of all things.
