toshiro keeps everyone at a distance. he believes himself to be a monster, even a freak of nature. his power alienates him and being from the rukongai he never fit in to begin with. plus, he never wanted to be a soul reaper in the first place.

toshiro longs for a normal life but knows he will never have that as a captain within the court guard. he understands this but secretly longs for a simpler life anyway.

he isn't the type to confess his feelings to others and internalizes everything. the only one who knows what he's feeling is his sister Momo.
