<💎> “Let you . . . have me?”
A puzzled tilt of the head. Nu Wa prided herself in understanding others well, even those she didn’t know on a familiar level. But Discordia? She hardly had the first clue.
“If you wish something personal of me . . . I suppose that could be arranged. Very well, I agree to your terms.”
heavenscales:
<💎> “I’m just asking you to appeal to her sense of vanity, I know you’re good at that. I need Da Ji distracted for a week. Enough to make sure a group of farmers she’s taken interest in gather their harvest and sell it. I can’t easily protect both them and their crop.”
It wasn’t often Nu Wa came to a goddess with a mindset so different from her own, but she knew Discordia of all people could hold the fox’s attention.
“So, what do you want? A favor, a request. Anything you want, within reason. You can have it.”
“ Alright. I want you. If you let me have you, I’ll take care of fox butt. “
Purple wings fluttered, as she smirked at the other. Tick, tock, tick tock,
would the goddess accept the offer?

<💎> “Well, you certainly have a unique way of showing your love, dear. As you always have.”
A soft sigh as she calmly ate more of the cake, watching the fox goddess grow angry. An understandable reaction for being separated from her prey, but she would get over with it, especially if she took ahold of the offered toy.
“The problem is, I don’t want you to spite me. At least, not in a way that hurts me so deeply. I want to work things out between the two of us. If not the relationship I’ve wanted for so long, at least . . . an understanding. Which is why I’m still offering myself. As for my children, I have put the world in a way that unless another god decides to mess with it, no harm will befall them. So yes, I am being selfish . . . for you.”
heavenscales:
<💎> “I’ve accepted it, Da Ji. I could have erased your existence centuries ago, if I hadn’t.”
A quiet and thoughtful bite into the offered cookie, as well as taking a plate with cake on it as well.
“You’re right, in a way. This is a temporary exile for you … as well as myself. I’m sealing the two of us away from the rest of the world, for at least a year or so. No victims to inflict your pleasures upon … except for myself.”
There was a moment of silence again, as she took a forkful of the pastry, biting into it and chewing, giving Da Ji a moment to process exactly what she was doing before speaking again.
“Whatever drives you to hate me so? I want to see if you can purge it, by using me as you wish. I know that will not change your nature, but perhaps it will lessen the need to massacre, if you don’t do it to spite me. I just want to help you find peace, Da Ji. The dear fox I gave human form to.”
“ Pardon my Greek, but a whole fucking year? “
Now, she was annoyed. This little bitch thought she could just take and
lock them away for a year?
“ What about the children who pray to you? How will they fare without
their precious goddess around? Seems to me, you’re being quite
selfish. “
Stab. A piece of cake was placed onto fork and eaten. Then she pointed
said utensil at the goddess.
“ Another thing. I don’t hate you, I just love to spite you. Consider it
a child’s show of love for mommy dearest. “

<💎> “I wouldn’t expect you to do that again. Not after the first time, at least. Besides, the two of us are going to be enjoying each other’s company for a while. Civility between the two of us would be a good start.”
The goddess stepped forward gracefully, sliding into one of the chairs and picking the cup of tea, sipping from it. As expected, delicious, yet with a bitter tang to it.
“You’re curious, I’m sure. What kind of punishment or retribution does Nu Wa have in store for you this time? The answer? Nothing. At least, nothing like that. Would you like to take a guess?”
“ Let me guess, Mommy Snake has put her delinquent daughter into
time out. Oh, boo hoo, I’m not seven hundred anymore.”
She decided to add some cookies to the spread as well as a variety of
cake slices.
“ This is who I am, Nu Wa. Accept it already. “

<💎> “I have no such regrets. My only regret is that so many centuries have passed, and still you still reject even a sliver of what I wish, of my peaceful intentions. Is mayhem really so enthralling that you see no other path?
She reached out, cupping that perfect face in her hand, wishing with all her might that things might be different. That she could hold the one she wished to be her partner would stop killing and maiming solely to hurt her.
She made that wish every day.
“If I could only make you understand … but perhaps, there is a way.”
She closed her eyes, and the world around them winked out of existence. Or rather, they vanished from the world. A void, with only the two of them to fill it.
“ Oh, look everything is gone. How dreary. “
She sat back on her tails, amused. What sort of lesson was she about
to preach today. A snap and a table was brought into the void, tea on it.
“ Have a cup. I assure you it isn’t flavored with blood. “

<💎> “I’m … flattered.”
Her tone showed that she was most certainly not. Still not angry. Only sad.
She patiently stepped over the severed head, making a motion with her hand and making the ground below it open up, swallowing it and giving the poor child a proper rest. Likewise, far from the two of them, a poor village torn to pieces was buried by a sudden landslide, the inhabitants put to rest within the land.
Nu Wa turned her attention back to the fox, crossing her arms.
“You wanted my attention, though, and now you have it, you spoiled fox. What further do you need of me?”
“ To hear you regret giving me life. To hear you loathe the fact I came
into such great power. Oh dear little Nu Wa, there’s nothing you can
do with me, is there? “
She taunted and coo’d, leaning in to Nu Wa. Face was just inches from hers,
a smirk on those painted lips.

heavenscales:
<💎> “Anger? You know me well enough to know that I don’t infuriate easily. Perhaps a six. But if the term was disappointment and shame? Easily a ten.”
Crossed arms as the Serpent stepped forward without fear towards Da Ji. The renegade, the one she wished to love, yet the one she had blessed with this form had turned and brought carnage to the world she cared for.
It was so, very hard, loving someone who hardly wished to show any reciprocation, even intentionally hurting the other things you loved. Even goddesses had feelings. She closed her eyes, a sigh leaving her lips, much like a mother scolding her child.
“How many dead, Da Ji? How many of my children did you torture this time?”
“ I lost count at three hundred. “
She tossed the head at Nu Wa’s feet, to further taunt her. She finished her
tea. A snap of fingers and the cup was out of sight, as tails started to wag.
“ I even made sure to kill the infants as well this time. Just for you. “

“ On a scale of one to ten, how much am I pissing you off right now? “
The goddess would casually ask the other, while dangling the head of a child
from one hand, while taking a sip of her tea with the other.

<💀> The dying, and the undead. It was her work, after all. A small force, killing the small force indescriminately . . . except for the children. Nu Wa let them run. Children made poor soldiers for her army. No, better they lived and grew healthily into a better livestock.
“I have called. But it seems our realms were never close enough until this moment . . . my queen. I have longed for you to see the things I do, in the name of bloodshed and mayhem.” She hummed softly, swaying to the tune of the screams.
She was every ounce as beautiful as Nu Wa has pictured, the goddess of the Blood Moon. The perfection the necromancing goddess had always desired.
heavenscales:
<💀> “I couldn’t agree more. I’ve longed to dance under your crimson light in a bath of blood.”
The dark goddess slid her tongue across her lips, beholding the figure that had descended. She must have miscalculated in her attempt to bring the dead above, and instead summoned the goddess of the moon she had fueled her own power with.
What a delicious mistake.
—≪🌙≫ “ Oh? So an admirer of my work for awhile now, I’m guessing? You
should have called for me sooner, I would have wanted you for a
partner. “
She stepped forward, grasping the other deity close, she now moving to
leading them together into a waltz to the sound of the dying around them.
How romantic.

<💎> “Then I suppose you’ll be spending a lot of time in my company, hmmm? Which means you’ll have to understand, I am a rather affectionate goddess. So you have more hugs like this in your future, I’m afraid.”
She kept the embrace, chuckling softly as she rested her head on top of Nyx’s lightly. Ah, but she’d have fun with this one. She wanted to teach the mage that immortality was a blessing, not a curse, and she was quite possibly the best person to show her that.
“Shall we go somewhere secluded, then? Where we can get to know one another better.”
heavenscales:
<💎> “It’s simply who I am, Nyx. I cannot fault you for being who you are, either. I think you’ve suffered far longer than enough for your sins, so lay your burdens with me. Let me bring some joy into your life again.”
Abandoning all concepts of the human phrase ‘personal space’, she slithered up to Nyx’s side, tail wrapping from feet to waist until she was behind the witch, leaning forward and embracing her.
“So now you may rely on my company. Though, if you plan to be around other humans, I’ll have to regain my other form, so I don’t send any of them into a panic.”
“I-I see. I’m normally not keen on closeness, but I suppose this is fine.”
Having a naga give her a hug was something new for her books. It was strange, but pleasant. If she didn’t trust that the other wouldn’t hurt her, she supposed something inside of her would probably be screaming for self preservation.
“I do not care really to be with other humans. We don’t exactly see eye to eye.”

<💎> “Your apology is wholeheartedly accepted, my dear. I’m not surprised that the first emotion that comes to you is anger. Your existence to this point cannot have been wholly pleasant. I promise nothing, dear. Only that I will do my best. But if I cannot lift your burden … at least you have found another who cannot leave you. For those of us who never die, finding another to be a companion with, even if for a little while … it holds the promise of seeing the other again, something we cannot always rely on when we live forever.”
She leaned down and kissed the other’s forehead kindly before sliding backwards, resting on her coiled tail. Yes, she could tell she’d be happy spending time with this one. Despite her sharp words, she knew she could make this dark one smile. All it would take was time, and they both had plenty of time to work with.
“You are… Too kind. Far too kind. Thank you, Nu Wa.”
A goddess had accepted her, in a way even blessed her. What was this burning at her eyes? Tears? How long had it been since she had cried tears of joy, of sweet relief? A sniffle, before she turned away, not wishing the other to behold her in such a state, especially after the performance she had just given prior.
“I don’t know what else to say, but thank you.”

<💎> “Now, hush, you. For a lady of your maturity, you’re certainly not acting your own age. In fact, you’re acting much like the child you appear to be. Have you ever wondered if that might be why you’re looked down upon, and not your appearance itself? After all, to humans, the way one acts can be just as important as one’s physical form.”
Nu Wa retained her kind smile even with the harsh words coming from her mouth. She would not pull her punches with this one, no. In fact, she suspected that Nyx would be far more receptive to honesty, brutal or not.
“Yes, I am a goddess. Nu Wa, the Serpent Goddess. Mother and caretaker of humanity. I care about all humankind, even when they feel they aren’t human any longer.”
She reverted to her true form now, sliding up to Nyx and cupping her youthful face in her hand, face inches from the other’s.
“I did not say that I was capable of removing your curse, dear. I suspect that only you can do that, and it will be a long time before it’s possible. But I certainly would like to try and help you. As one immortal to another.”
“You’ll have to forgive me for being so spiteful, but I think some of it is due.”
Even as she spat the words out, she knew she was beating a dead horse at this point. Hadn’t she already gotten over this anger? Why was it now, when she was presented with a goddess, one who was being extremely nice and sweet on top of everything, that all those emotions she had released came boiling over once more.
A breath in, out. In. Out.
She had to be calm, she had to be a lady, she had to be the wise witch she prided herself as, the only thing she even held to her heart to be prideful in. She met the other’s eyes, swallowing her pride now, however.
“I ask for true forgiveness now, you’ve only been kind to me and all I’ve done is spit upon it with disdain. I don’t know what you can do to help me. A few have tried in the past and none have succeeded outside of the fact of giving my heart a few more lashes.”

She wasn’t sure what she could do just yet. The curse on this one was a binding thing, one inextricably linked to her soul. But perhaps … she could lighten the burden somewhat, given time.
“You know, if you were allowed to age, something tells me you would become a beautiful woman, darling. Don’t take that as spiteful, please. Simply me observing your beauty.”
“Forgive me, but are you a goddess?”
A deity. Could she possibly be freed from this, but on the other hand, what if the gods were just continuing to scoff at her? Hadn’t she paid her toll yet for all the lives she had taken? Hadn’t she worked long enough to free herself from the guilt that kept her awake at night?
“For I doubt you could be truly, given what I’ve done and those related to you have cast this upon me. To what do you care of one human that is cursed forever more, to live out her existence like you? To be locked in a body that is always looked down upon, for there is apparently no way she could be an adult.”

“How about a trade? You tell me about yourself, and I’ll tell you about me? We each have our own experiences, being immortal.”
“I suppose we do.”
So she was right, the other was something like her, although she doubted they had a similar past.
“I became immortal due to the sins I bear. My magic went too far, I was too cruel, and now I may never die. I have to live with my nightmares forever.”

There wasn’t much else explanation that she could give. She simply could feel the other’s age. A tired old soul in a youthful body, though her spirit still retained a hint of her youth, she could feel it.
“Nyx … a short name, pleasant on the tongue. Perhaps you’ll let me repeat it? I’d love to spend time to you, hear all you’ve seen and done.”
“I suppose I don’t mind the company.”
The other was pleasant to be around, a true joy. A kindred spirit perhaps? She wouldn’t mind getting to know someone who didn’t mind she was quite ancient compared to the younger generation.
“Is there anything in particular you would like to do or know?”

She bowed softly, hand over her chest, looking up at the woman with a knowing smile. Yes, she knew she was far older than she looked. One’s physical body was hardly an indicator of one’s age. She was a prime example of that.
“My name is Nu Wa. May I know yours?”
“My name is Nyx, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Although I have to ask how you knew I was older than I appear.”
Strange. Did she perhaps know about the curse placed about her? Nu Wa sounded similar to a name she had seen in ancient texts, but surely that couldn’t be the same woman.
