“Humans are inherently selfish--" Then why do so many cultures value hospitality, to the point of dictating it in their religions? Why is it so common for hosts to offer their visitors their best food, and as much of it as they can? At some point, multiple cultures decided that they knew what it felt like to be alone and vulnerable, and promised each other to never let those who stay with them feel that way. That doesn't sound very "inherently selfish" to me.

Diapers & Milk

I will keep this short: my friend Layla needs to buy diapers and milk for her baby son. Of course, in Gaza, a pack of diapers is $90 and a can of formula goes for $40. Her fundraiser hasn't received any donations in almost two weeks, so she has no way to afford these simple necessities for her child.

If just 4 people can match my donation of $20, Layla will be able to buy what she needs.

If 10 people donate $10, she will have more than enough.

If 20 people donate $5, she will be nearly there.

one of two things has been happening in my neighborhood today:

1. one of my neighbors has been standing motionless on his porch for six+ hours

2. one of my neighbors has placed a mannequin on his porch, which has been there for six+ hours
