"i hope so." he returns, response slightly curt even if he doesn't mean it that way. hector is just on edge because he doesn't like being around his pack members very much when they act like this. and he's supposed to be comfortable around them, isn't he? what's the point of being in a pack if he feels tense? "my pack members are affected in certain ways that i'm not, so it makes me feel uncomfortable and it's hard for me to relate. the full moon doesn't make me act the way they do, should it? is there something wrong with not being affected by it?"

Helia gave him a sympathetic smile and nodded. “It will end soon,” she promised him, because she knew it would, maybe it would linger for some after the full moon, but she doubted many would remain affected. “People are always asking me for advice,” she joked. “I have a long standing marriage with my wife, and I think I have managed to befriend most people I come into contact with.” Though she refrained from saying how much it hurt when people didn’t want to be her friend. “How do you struggle?” she asked.

"it's good to see queer owned businesses, isn't it?" he asks another patron at the restaurant. hector had only come to pick up his order, but he couldn't help but notice the addition for pride month on the menu. "personally i like to support them whenever i can, i think it's good cause. plus, it helps that the food here isn't half bad. have you tried the new menu item?"

"even a couple days feel too long." he returns, without even really thinking before he says it. it's true, but he feels like he doesn't need anyone knowing these kinds of things about him, even if he doesn't fully understand them himself. maybe it's a subject he's not ready to broach, or something he hasn't really though about, he's not that sure. helia seems like a decent enough person to discuss that uncertainty with though. " i don't know, i've always kinda struggled with relationships, platonic or not. but you seem like you have some advice on the matter."

Helia chuckled. She wondered what it would be like to have a Werewolf for a partner, especially around the Pink Moon, though there was plenty of love between her and Lilette, especially now that she was back. She smiled kindly. “Luckily it’s only for a few days,” she said. “But it is my best time, I get to give so many people relationship advice,” she chuckled. “Not just romantic ones, but platonic ones as well,” she explained, though she didn’t want to make any assumptions, it was the vibe she got from Hector. And given that she already had experience with Reza, she felt like she knew enough of the subject to want to make people feel good, whether she was correct or not.

if hector had learned anything from this experience, it was that he should be prepared for any kind of weather. he usually carried a bag with him for his belongings anyway, it wouldn't be hard to stow an umbrella in there. but, at least his poor luck in this instance had caused him to meet a new acquaintance. "hector. hector vasquez." he provides, a small accompanied with the introduction. "i didn't check the weather this morning, i usually do before i head out. don't know why i didn't this time. i would say i haven't lived here long enough to predict the weather but that's not true, i've lived here for almost five years. old habits die hard, i guess."

"what's your name? and you number if that's not too forward, just wanna make sure i can make good on meeting up sometime." internally hector hopes that doesn't come across as flirting, he's never really been good with romance. sure, he's good-looking, or that's what he can assume from what he's been told, but dating just hasn't really been a point of interest for him. "tea would be good too, i'm not really all that picky."

She had endured her fair share of unfortunate moments and experienced the most terrible luck, yet she couldn’t deny the comedic aspect of the previous scene. She was still smiling to herself small laughter bubbling at the corners of her mouth. Watching the unlucky passerby mutter curses under their breath about the relentless rain, she felt it was only fair to offer her parasol. Kindness, in her view, was a contagion she preferred to spread throughout the vast universe, favoring it over hatred or animosity. If she could assist someone, she would do so without hesitation. “So, what’s your name anyway? And why didn’t you bring an umbrella? Not that I’m judging, but it’s pretty much always raining here, isn’t it?” She spoke with a gentle smile, recalling her own adjustment to the constant drizzle in her first months in the little town.

Attempting to lighten the mood, she offered a few soft chuckles. As the sun began to break through the clouds, she lowered her parasol and closed it for good measure. She didn’t mind the tiny rays of sunshine as they started to pierce through the rain-dampened air. The cycle would undoubtedly repeat itself soon, of course. “Yeah, I guess I’m deserving of a cup of coffee, as long as it’s good coffee.” She nodded, hoping for a quaint little café. “Or maybe even tea if you prefer it,” she added, her voice laced with amiable suggestion.

"oh." the response isn't very enthusiastic and in truth that's how he feels about what helia is saying. to be honest, romance and love have never really been things that interested hector all that much. it wasn't necessarily that it seemed like a waste of time to him, it just...wasn't really his thing. he'd never met a person that seemed like someone he wanted to date or ask out.

"that would explain why some of my pack members have been acting weird lately." it's true, he'd noticed that some of his fellow werewolves had been more explicit with their desires lately. "personally i haven't been experiencing anything out of the normal, but i guess that's just me."

“I think the full moon simply takes them by surprise,” Helia voiced her opinion with a bit of amusement. “After all, it is a big part of our lives, not so much of theirs, and it’s not like it’s on the same day every month. Perhaps it’s good however, maybe if they look into it too much, they’ll find they have reason to worry.” Though Helia would swoop in and erase their memories. It made no sense to have their co-workers be aware of their Supernatural background. 

“I—” Helia swallowed. “I’ve only heard the regular things,” she stated. “The Pink Moon brings with it feelings of… love mostly.” She offered a smile. “For your kind, that is, for my kind, it is mostly that witches tend to show interest in love potions and rituals.”

hector had been unlucky enough to be caught in the rain on this particular day. it seemed like misfortune followed him at times, whether it was dropping his keys in the sewer grate, his car getting a flat tire, or something as simple as forgetting to grab an umbrella. today, as luck would have it, he happened to run into a woman willing to share her umbrella. so there wasn't a grey storm cloud following him, as he had been convinced before.

"thank you for being kind enough to share your shelter with me." he acknowledges, happy that the weather has cleared for now. it seems like the rain has stopped entirely and the sun was beginning to peek out from behind the clouds. over the course of the walk, he had enjoyed the company, finding the conversation to be stimulating. it was nice to think that his unfortunate mishap had resulted in getting to know a complete stranger, something he wouldn't have done if luck had been his favor today. "would you like to meet for coffee sometime?"

Appearances often belied the true intentions of the young woman. Nohemi possessed a remarkably charming personality, treading the delicate line between sweetness and morbid, dry humor. Despite her fondness for the gothic aesthetic, her choice of attire inadvertently created a barrier between herself and others, maintaining a safe distance. An elegant black parasol perched above her head, adding an air of mystery to her presence as she canvased the nearby pond for ducks, salamanders and other curious creatures. She steals a quick sip of tea from the cardboard cup in her other hand.

As the evening sun began its descent, signaling the end of their leisurely stroll, Nohemi felt a pang of reluctance. She didn't want to cause undue concern for her sister, nor did she wish to neglect her duties at home, where a culinary adventure awaited her in the form of a vegan-inspired dinner. Releasing a heavy sigh, she pondered aloud, "I wonder if the weather will remain as perfect as it is now. We'll have to make a habit of these walks. I've thoroughly enjoyed our time together." With a graceful twirl of her parasol, her smile sparkled in the fading light. "Unless, of course, you have other ideas for our next rendezvous?"

where: moonshine

it was another day, which meant that hector had to get his daily cup of coffee. there weren't a ton of cafes near where he lived, but he didn't mind venturing out a little bit. he found that it was a good way to get out, at least for a little while. plus, he found the atmosphere of cafes calming, a stark contrast from his job.

he places his order and waits near the pickup counter, looking around as he does so. his gaze lands on an individual he's seen before, but doesn't know very well. if he remembers correctly, they're also a werewolf, looking to start their own pack in fenrir. "hey, you're nishant, right? part of the glover pack?"

what with the full moon quickly approaching, hector could feel his wolf instincts beginning to come to the surface. he was still stable enough to come to work, unlike the other wolves he knew who seemed to be experiencing...other effects. today was a rare day he had off before the moon reached it's peak, so he chose to spend it at the local art gallery. he bristles slightly when the other speaks to him, as he doesn't know if his coworker is aware of the existence of werewolves.

"can't really be helped, it's not like either of were going to cover for one of them. we have that day off every month, they know that." he comments in return, yawning and scrubbing a hand over his face. "have you been experiencing anything strange with the full moon coming soon? some acquaintances of mine have reported some...slightly unusual occurrences."

Helia would rather have hordes of horny Werewolves and love-stir Witches running around than any of the Full Moons in the last two years. Even if it felt like something chaotic was bound to happen, she felt like she could deal with chaos better than the uncertainty of murder and Gods. Despite the fact that she felt like she was going to fall apart.

"I think this was the first time in a long while that someone expressed discontent that I'm taking the night off for the Full Moon. Our colleagues really wanted to go to this event tonight, but since you and I always have this night off." She smiled at Hector. "For once I don't mind being envied for having the Full Moon off."

hector vasquez- istj - the logistician

i- introverted 

despite his job involving being around people the vast majority of the time, hector enjoys the aspect of his job that involves not interacting with people. working in an emergency room, he finds that a lot of the time the emotions of family members or friends might interfere with his ability to treat the patient, so he’s not very good at beside manners because he’s more absorbed with the task at hand. engaging with these people is usually limited to giving an update on the person being treated, asking about medical history, or asking for consent to do something and that’s about the extent of the interactions he likes to have.

he does find talking to people draining, it would be much preferable to him if he could just work without ever having to talk, but he knows that’s not possible. with his coworkers it’s a different story because he knows they understand what he has to get done and even then he doesn’t like for those exchanges to be particularly long. his job takes place in a very fast-paced environment, there’s better things to do than sit around and chat.

s- sensing

hector relies a lot on his past experiences to figure out what’s going on in the present. this applies to his life outside of work too, when he’s confused by something going on he draws on what he’s seen before. this isn’t always the most reliable for him because sometimes he only ends up getting confused further, which is frustrating for both him and the other person involved in the situation. predominantly at present, this issue comes up in his dating life, or lack thereof. sometimes hector will be out at a bar, talking to another patron, and completely fail to notice that the person he’s having a conversation with isi very blatantly flirting with him. 

this could be attributed to his lack of interest in dating, it’s just not something that’s ever really interested him. so, when he is in these situations he tends to look at experiences in the past when he’s been talking to another person at a bar, which he interpreted as just a friendly interaction. if the other person gets upset or ends up leaving with little to no acknowledgement of him, he tends to feel frustrated or hurt. what he thought was a conversation going out well turned out to not be and he doesn’t understand why.

t- thinking

hector spends a lot of his time analyzing what he’s experienced and thinking about how he can apply it to things in the future. almost everything he goes through he treats as a sort of learning experience, a guide for himself and how to act. this is especially helpful in his work because he can usually determine what’s going on with a patient fairly quickly, with only a small margin of error. this also allows him to be able to treat them faster, which is his goal most of the time, making sure that no one gets worse or dies on his watch. of course, this goal isn’t always achievable, but he likes to strive for it.

he approaches his life, both inside and outside of his work, in a pretty no-nonsense manner. there are certain things that he doesn’t feel are worth engaging in, like drugs or gambling. he can understand alcohol for the social aspect if nothing else, but other addictive behaviors just seem like a waste of time. 

j- judging

it’s very important to him that he has a set schedule to live his life by, this is the primary way that hector organizes himself. while his work doesn’t always have the most regular schedule, he is able to adapt to it with little frustration. he kind of considers being on-call a part of his routine, just because what he’s doing at any given time has the potential to be put on hold. at first it was difficult for him to get a handle on just because it was outside of his typical ways of thinking, but he’s gotten to a point where he doesn’t mind it.

if you looked at where he keeps his documents or really anywhere in his apartment, you would see that everything has its own place. hector finds that keeping everything in an organized manner provides him with peace of mind in his otherwise hectic life. he also prefers to get things like chores done at the earliest convenience, there’s never dishes in his sink or a buildup of clothes in his laundry.

headcanons

first became interested in emergency medicine as career by watching medical drama tv shows. once he got older and realized how unrealistic these shows are, his interest shifted more to the aspect of helping people. hector also really likes the fast-paced environment of working in emergency services, though it is sometimes overwhelming for him.

his guilty pleasure is telenovelas and he doesn't tell anyone except his close friends. this probably started because his mom watched them and he got invested but is too embarrassed to admit it. when he's off the clock and he's not out he can be caught catching up on his favorites. is perpetually exhausted, from a combination of being on call a lot and insomnia. with the irregular hours of his job he has a hard time getting a manageable sleep schedule. he has tried melatonin, white noise, essential oils, you name it, they tend to just help him for a short period of time and then it goes back to him not being able to sleep. in-between trips he tends to powernap, though he's usually woken up before he gets any real rest.
