Courtesan AU: Are you happy with your arrangement with the Marquis?

“Of course,” the courtesan said with a warm smile. “He’s good to me, always stays to the rules in our contract and…well, certainly after knowing him as long as I have now, I feel like I’ve formed a sort of bond with him.  I really do enjoy his company. He’s fun - and pleasurable - to spend time with, however we spend it.” The smile on his lips spoke to honest fondness - it was soft and warm and natural.

“In many ways, I wish other clients of mine were more like the Marquis - and I’m glad we have the arrangement that we do. It guarantees not only that I have work to do and income to make, but it means I spend that time with him…We’ll need to arrange a new contract soon…I hope very much that I’ve made him happy enough that he will want to sign another.”

Nea was only looking across the room, observing Vladimir some distance away making conversation with a group. The question came quite literally out of nowhere.“What I think about him?” Why was this anyone’s business? Who was-  It was at this point in their relationship that she figured it only made sense that strangers would get curious about anybody in Vladimir’s company. At a large gathering like this, she should’ve expected this sooner or later. And she thought that she could get by without attracting any attention. She probably could’ve, but then there was Vladimir. Curses. Nothing to do besides accepting it at this point.

“Well, our relationship is-“ Complicated. No, it would only raise further questions. “We’re friends. Good friends. We don’t meet too often though. I travel. A lot.” She straightened her back, she shouldn’t be making a big deal out of this. What she gave to the ears of the room would only reach Vladimir eventually. She could hear him laughing from across the room with the others. It was good to hear. She turned back to the stranger with a polite smile.“He inspires me. Though I can’t go about everything quite as carefree as he can, being with him makes me wish I could.” Sometimes. She still had sanity enough to realize that she could never stay in Noxus, regardless of the benefits.

“I guess I admire him in many ways, for being him and living the life he lives. We share an interest in the occult, and though many do it gets harder and harder to find someone who can discuss with me as an equal. Much less teach me something new for a change.” She pauses as she looks out over the crowd again. “No, he’s definitely quite something. He’s a magnetic person, an impressive man. I’m really quite fortunate to be able to spend the time I do with him.”
