Without our main video and our end credits we were left with 7.16 minutes to talk about our journey. (We obviously also didn’t want to reach the full 10 minutes and wanted to keep it as concise as we could). In total we had 10 slides and tried to keep under 30-40seconds each.
For each slide I came up with a plan of roughly what we could say. We wanted to film this on zoom so you could see our faces so that when we spoke and it felt more ‘candid’.
We decided we wanted to make a video with the aim of better presenting our intended tone of voice. Our campaign is a meant to be fun, upbeat and have this ‘no pressure’ type of attitude so it was really important to get this across within the motion of the video.
Jenny started off by creating the first photo booth, which we all really liked the shape of. It started off with three seats because of our three pack idea. I then took hold of the idea when it became a singular bottle. I added a curtain and also made our logo more visible. As we are now making the photo booth have an outer chalkboard material for people to write on I wanted to show this through drawing out some names to put on it.
I also thought it’d be a nice touch to add a photograph coming out of the booth to feel more real and personal
Animating the star loading screen after the star on the bottle has been scanned, openening up the users camera, prompting them to snap a photo and upload it on social media under the hashtag #ForSomeoneNew. As a group, we felt that screen recording us capturing the photo adds a real-life scenario to the animation, helping us to communicate how it would work in real time.
Screenshots of making/animating the university leaderboard and experimenting with phone/full-page layouts. As a group, we agreed a full-page layout would show more detail/information considering the pace of the animation and a phone layout can be used as a mockup to demonstrate our idea as a real-life scenario in our presentation boards.
We needed content for our ‘main feed’ page once you scan the star. These could also be used the the main video. It was up to me to get as many people as I could to take pictures with the bottles. I found this quite hard especially as I didn’t want to disturb VisComm whilst they were working. These are just a selection of the images I took.
As the star has a drawn outline to it as well as ‘For Someone New’ being written on the bottle, we thought it would be a cool idea to have it look like it was being drawn on screen in the moment
I drew and screen recorded myself on procreate against a green background and then took this into after effects to remove the green background.
After our final tutorial we felt like presentation slides were failing to showcase our intended fun tone of voice, and it might be easier to articulate our idea in the form of a promotional video.
We wanted to make sure we had a feel good ‘inspirational’ tune as our backing music as our campaign is all about fun opportunities to meet new people. These are also songs that are upbeat, which would help with the tone that we are after
As we wouldn’t have lyrics playing we had to make sure that the backing music was good enough without. We ended up choosing ‘Glorious’ by Macklemore ft Skylar grey. This song is definitely a feel good song to all of us and we especially liked the line “chance to start again”. Which is essentially what our campaign is all about.
