Israel's Apartheid Against Palestinians: Cruel System of Domination and Crime Against Humanity from Amnesty International on Vimeo.
DEMOLISH APARTHEID NOT PALESTINIAN HOMES
TAKE ACTION HERE amnesty.org/en/latest/campaigns/2022/02/israels-system-of-apartheid/
Millions of Palestinians live under Israel’s system of apartheid, and at the heart of this violently racist system, is the Palestinian experience of being denied a home.
For over 73 years, Israel has forcibly displaced entire Palestinian communities and demolished hundreds of thousands of Palestinians’ homes causing terrible trauma & suffering. Over 6 million Palestinians remain as refugees and today at least another 150,000 are at real risk of losing their homes.
Israel has created and maintains laws, policies, and practices that deliberately oppress Palestinians and work to ensure Jewish Israeli domination across Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). This includes racist seizures of property and planning laws and policies that make it impossible for many Palestinians to build homes. It also allows for mass demolitions of homes built without a permit, something that is routinely denied for Palestinians.
Apartheid is a crime against humanity and is committed with the specific intent of maintaining a cruel system of control by one racial group over another. Every week, the Israeli authorities displace Palestinians through demolitions or forced evictions, which shows how Israel deliberately disadvantages Palestinians, giving them inferior status to Israeli Jews.
With more stories coming to light and more people around the world mobilising against these injustices, now is the time for us to work together. As a first step, we must speak out for Palestinians living under Israel’s apartheid. We have the power to demolish this system even if it means one pillar at a time.
Take action against demolitions and forced evictions now by writing to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
Call on him to immediately cancel all orders for forced evictions and home demolitions against Palestinians in Israel/OPT and to end the forced displacement of Palestinians.

Exhausted from Tiffany Jiang on Vimeo.
Official Selection Seattle Asian American Film Festival 2022 Baby Teeth Film Festival 2022
Honorable Mention Local Shortiez 2021
Exhibitions POV Docs & Asian Mental Health Project: Art Show 2021 — When I recorded my nightly routine on the evening of the Atlanta spa shootings, I had no intentions of making my short film, Exhausted. I only knew I needed to visually document how drained I felt, both physically and emotionally, after hearing such devastating news following a string of attacks during an already difficult year spent in isolation. While social media provided a way for Asian Americans to connect in the aftermath while separated, it also showed just how many people said nothing at all or moved on from the tragedy within days. To call attention to this issue, I decided to use the footage in a film that acknowledges the bottled emotions so many of us suppress because we were taught as children to keep quiet and “not make a fuss.”
I purposely framed myself off to the side to make the point that Asian Americans often tell themselves they should not take up too much space, leading them to be overlooked or forgotten about entirely. We are not usually given opportunities to be front and center. I am only visible in the given space that the mirror allows which even cuts me off from view at some points. The bare walls are meant to evoke a sense of feeling trapped and isolated. At the time, I had been living alone in quarantine for a year, which was likely the case for many other Asian Americans when they heard about the news too. It has been exhausting to live in a constant state of fear, reading headline after headline about yet another senseless attack.
It pains me to know that countless other Asian American lives have been taken since this film was made back in March 2021. Even as I write this today, I mourn the loss of Christina Lee. My anxiety has reached a point where I no longer feel safe taking walks in the neighborhood, running simple errands, or taking public transportation. As Steven Yeun said, “Sometimes I wonder if the Asian American experience is what it’s like when you’re thinking about everyone else, but no one is thinking about you.” I hope this film provokes much needed conversations about mental health, transparency, and support for and within the Asian American community. It serves as a reminder that these attacks are still very much ongoing. The Asian American community grieves for one another and has been for many generations.

FRATERNITÉ from WASTED TALENT on Vimeo.
A) group of people sharing a common profession or interests.
B) friendship and mutual support within a group.
"The ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity"
For too long, surfing has been the preserve of the privileged. Those fortunate enough to reside on coastal regions. Those fortunate enough to afford boards and wetsuits. To be fortunate enough to have the surrounding infrastructure to train, to have others go before them. To be lucky enough to live in Southern California. In South West France. In Sydney. To be able to surf all day and not worry about providing for a family. To be home schooled and only focus on ‘pro’ surfing. Barriers to entry that those fortunate to do it wouldn’t even recognise existed; the statement “all you need is a board and a wetsuit” reflecting so acutely the nonchalance of the privileged few.
And yet, we hope those days are behind us. With the amazing work of groups such as Postive Vibe Warriors, Black Girls Surf and Juju surf club to name but a handful. Barriers are being broken down and we hope, with fingers crossed and a collective goodwill in the right direction that not only are the barriers being lowered, but tossed aside as surfing provides a means of empowerment to those less fortunate.
This movement is being lead by examples and role models the world over. Perfectly crystallised with the Billabong stablemates of Italo Ferreira, Cherif Fall and Joshe Faulkner. A far cry from your cookie cutter pro surfers, three real people with three real stories, role models and examples in their own right from their own communities right up to the world stage.
We’d been to Senegal before. The friendliest place we’d ever visited. The nation state of fun waves and all time vibes. So when Billabong called the WT hotline, and rumour reached our ears of a return trip, it wasn’t a though process worth considering—before even asking why we were in. When the why came, on a surprise trip with the World Champ, gold medallist and all round now über superstar Italo Ferreira to visit our old friend Cherif along with Joshe Faulkner—we were in, hook line and sinker. Two weeks later, we land in Dakar, fresh PCR tests in hand. We’re met with by old friends at the airport, a sense of familiarity but ever the presence of the unknown.
For the full story, cop a copy of our latest Print Volume. Wasted Talent Vol X. Available now.
“We never thought we could make it surfing. We started with broken boards. Now, thanks to god there are a lot of young surfers coming up. The fact that Italo is here really shines a spotlight on the Senegalese surf scene. Me Joshe and Italo are all similar. We all grew up from disadvantaged backgrounds. We never had it easy, but nothing in our hometowns is easy for anyone. It makes us work harder. We want it more. There are so many people that say that we couldn’t surf. That we don’t have good waves. That surfing isn’t for Africans. Well despite our humble beginnings we’re here—ready to take it to the world” — Cherif Fall.
