"have you been sneaking sugary treats again?" she smiled and gave him a hug. as far as helen was concerned, flash was another other one of bob and her kids. he fitted into the parr family like a perfect puzzle piece.
"that's good to hear. though remind me that when the time comes for dash to learn how to drive that he needs as many cones as possible to try and slow him down. that boy runs around like time is running out" she laughed and made her way through the home to the kitchen "i'm good thanks. a bit worried about the kids when they're this quiet but bob says to give them space." helen pulled plates down from the cupboard and set them out for the food "i've got a few exams to go then i'm officially big time lawyer. lorelai has been a godsend with it all"
"ooh, smells delicious, hel. i'm glad i didn't have that donut before coming over now-," he joked, kissing her cheek as he came in. flash had never had a better meal than at the parr residence (leftovers night was his personal fave). helen and bob were kinda his idols when it came to life. they just seemed like they had it all together, you know? lovin' life.
"i'm doing great, thanks for asking! work is steady, the lines are slow and the driver's license pics are still haunting. one of my students took out about twenty cones yesterday too but i'm feeling optimistic for next time. how about you, huh? mrs big time lawyer?"

@flash-hundredyarddash
helen had invited flash over for family dinner, he was as much of a son to her as the rest of her children. "come in, come in, dinners almost ready" she smiled and welcomed him into the parr home. "how are you? work going well?"

helen had been worried about the kids recently. they had fallen quiet and into their own little worlds, forgetting that their siblings were around. she didn’t like the kids not talking. shit, she’d even take the kids fighting over their silence.
she had been reading her book in bed one night, thinking things over when she slipped her bookmark into the pages and closed the book over, turning to bob
“have you notice the kids haven’t been talking? did something happen?”

on her way to the hart home, she popped into a nearby store and picked up all the cold and flu things one could desire when ill - along with another curer of wine, chocolate and some of those trashy tabloid magazines that she knew would make the other laugh.
helen gave a sympathetic look when lorelai had opened her door “you’re excused. you’re always excused.” she said with a wave of her hand “only you could be floored with a flu and still look amazing, and also, i’ve brought you cold and flu reinforcements.” she offered “dumb question, but how are you feeling?”
Lorelai made a point of having her and Helen's biweekly coffee dates anywhere that wasn't her own home. They'd been to every cafe, restaurant and bar in town that way. They always found the best corner to tuck away into, whispering (gossiping) and usually discussing Helen's return to law. Lorelai had always made a point of not cancelling on her. Today was no exception but against her better judgement, she had messaged Helen with a request to change the location. Try as she may- pain killers, chamomile teas, caffeine free 'all natural' concoctions- she couldn't get past her own front door. Lorelai Hart hadn't been ill in well over twenty years. Lorelai Hart struck fear into the heart of the common cold. But whatever this was... it wasn't common.
In any case, she opened her front door to Helen Parr with a 'forgive me' smile. "I've just started the coffee machine. Please excuse the bath robe, I beg of you." @helenpxrr

rose felt like all she did these days was study, study and study. turns out today was no different. sitting at a free table in her aunt maria’s florist shop, rose absentmindedly flicked through the pages of her textbook. giving, up, she leaned back in the chair and let out a groan.
“it’s so boring!”

helen was in picking up flowers for the parr family home. she was waiting around the store and smiled to herself when she saw rose studying away. it reminded her of violet when she was at school. then as that thought came into mind, rose’s outburst has her mind going straight to dash. “you remind me of my son, he hates studying as well. he never does well sitting still”

Helen Parr (nee Truax) was a woman that was going to single-handedly change the world. She’s someone that always applied herself to the fullest potential in whatever she set her sights on. For her career, Helen was very adamant about breaking into a man’s world in the field of Law, particularly in woman’s rights. She didn’t agree with crusty old men deciding on legislation and laws regarding women without a woman being involved in those discussions. She held –and still does- firmly feminist views and takes no crap for anybody. Helen always could handle herself, and she didn’t need a man’s help for anything. She even made that perfectly clear when she had met Robert Parr.
Having a pro-boxer for a boyfriend had its perks, but she worried too much about his safety. There was a specific fight that had gotten brutal that had Helen voicing her concerns to Bob. She didn’t ask him to walk away from boxing, but she was relieved when he did. Suddenly, Helen Parr realised that she couldn’t live without a man – well, this specific man. A feat she would never have seen for herself when she was younger. Bob had landed on his feet as a firefighter, and it seemed from there on out that their lives met milestone after milestone. They had got married and not long after, Helen had the news that a baby was on the way and Bob had the news a lawsuit was on the way.
Being pregnant while going through the stress of your husband getting sued for doing his job was a whirlwind time for Helen. It all was a blur for her. The world only slowed down when the lawsuit had been settled and they moved out of the city for Bob to find work. They bounced around for a while until they set their roots in Redwood Hollow and soon after baby Violet was brought into the world. Then came Dashiell and lastly Jack-Jack. Three kids had Helen become a stay at home mum & while she finds this rewarding, she can see Bobs frustration while he works a job he hates. He’s restless and while Helen can understand that, she also knows her husband well enough to know that when he’s restless, he gets reckless. She doesn’t need Bob getting it in his head that he can relive the “Glory Days”.
Helen is still the feisty and sharp-witted woman she was when she was studying law. She’s the stricter parent out of Bob and herself. Being a mother had taught Helen many things, patience and composure being the two key qualities she had picked up, but as per usual will get irritated with the silly things like the kids fighting and being messy, or tripping over Bobs bowling shoes even though she had already asked him to move them like three times a day for the past three days, and he never listens but whatever.
Additional Notes*
greys anatomy enthusiast
has recently started studying law again with the intention of finishing off the exams she needs to become a fully qualified lawyer
big mama bear energy
Wanted Connections*
friends
neighbours
other parents
book club/yoga ladies
her kids friends
general new people - a stay at home mum goes outdoors
other lawyers
Wanted Plots / Plot Ideas*
kid - helen takes _____ under her wing and they stay with the parr’s for a while. the person becomes like another member of the family.
date - helen is hellbent trying to set violet up to get her to meet new people
book club/yoga ladies (whom helen is also a part of) they get together weekly. it’s a bundle of woman (and @paxtonpatterson ) who are in the know of town gossip as well as working on their yoga skills or chatting about a good book.
Taken Connections*
@robertpxrr - She loves him dearly, giving up her old life to be with him and move across the country. Their relationship has been strained lately though, as she feels Bob is distant/straying.
@vixletparr - eldest child & only daughter. helen obviously loves her daughter and would protect her until her dying breath, but violet and her are worlds apart. she finds it hard to find common ground with violet. she wishes violet would get out of her comfort zone and meet people instead of trying to stay invisible to the world
Dash - the second child and her oldest son. dash was a shock to the system after having a child like violet first time around. he’s a live-wire and can’t be tamed. while at times she wishes he’d slow down, she admires his drive in life.
Jack-Jack - her sweet baby boy all grown up. helen struggled with loosening the reigns on him when he was getting older because he was her last baby. but seeing him now, she’s
@iceice-best - basically her brother-in-law and the godfather to violet, dash and jack-jack. A lifelong friend of the Parr family, and the children’s uncle and godfather. He’s level headed where Bob isn’t and she finds comfort in that. She trusts him to bring Bob’s head back down from the clouds should it float there. Helen very strongly took his side when he and his ex wife divorced and she offers Lucius advice whenever he asks. She enjoys their Greys Anatomy nights, she banishes Bob to his office when they watch the show
edna mode - godmother to the parr children. A lifelong friend of the Parr family, and the children’s aunt. She’s kooky and demanding, but Helen often confides in her when times get tough.
@imattractedtopower - she was sniffing around bob one time and helen will throw hands
@flash-hundredyarddash - like another son to get
@queencfharts - bestie

Mirage wasn’t at all phased by the standoffish air put forth by Helen. In fact, it was almost amusing. Such a shame they wouldn’t be making friends any time soon. Helen seemed like she might make an interesting conversation partner, if it weren’t for the glares and tense shoulders.
“Oh, Helen,” she hummed. “I see today is not the day when bygones will be bygones, no? Such a shame, really, because I was looking for someone have a coffee with after my little shopping trip.”
-
neither woman seemed bothered by the other, yet both were petty enough to keep up the passive aggression. both held their own and both refused to back down. helen always taught her kids to be the bigger person and not hold grudges, that didn’t mean that she actually practiced what she preached.
“oh mirage” she hummed back “why am i not surprised that you’ve not got someone to go to coffee with? have you been ogling partners that aren’t yours again?”

◃:✮.
“ooh, touché. it was definitely a heavy hitter in the hands of one elle woods, that’s forsure,” flash nodded. who could ever forget that absolute zinger of an ending, right? linda cardellini eat your hear out. flash gave the pile of books another impressed and daunting look.
“you know, i’m almost willing to risk it. any time, hel. i’m here for all that good stuff and to help out if you ever have an overwhelming urge to throw a barbecue,” he added for good measure. flash raised both eyebrows at helen’s confession, a genuine smile stretched across his face. “helen, that’s awesome! aw man, you’re gonna need a wheelbarrow to get all these books outta here. this is very elle woods of you. oh, well, the lil guy at home has been acting a little weird lately. dancing around his veggies. i’m trying to learn how to vibe better with him.”
-
“and who are we to question the tools of elle woods?” she asked with a smile. she lost count how many times she had seen the film in question over the years.
“thank you, freddie, it’s much appreciated.” helen was always amazed at the wonderful support network she had in town of friends and extended family. the parr’s welcomes everyone and anyone into their family and it was no different for freddie. “a wheelbarrow is a pretty good idea. my arms are aching from carrying these cinderblock books. you know me, just trying to live my perfect day” she joked, quoting the main song from the film “oh no, i hope he’s okay” she said, her voice filled with concern. “have you found anything that you think might be the cause?”
