Today we're shooting two LinkedIn headshots in NYC for two corporate women from Manhattan. Now let's go through this upcoming LinkedIn headshot session, step by step. https://goo.gl/gJYTH6 This is going to be a one light LinkedIn profile image shoot for both of these female business executives. I have done LinkedIn headshot photography in NYC for years, and it's success hangs on getting the right person to be the talent, and to make the final image feel open and inviting. The LinkedIn headshot represents the face of the company. This is the person that you're going to be talking to when you call in to corporate headquarters. Here's a couple of things to know when preparing the studio and client for a LinkedIn profile image. https://goo.gl/aAEHQd If you're using an employee, CEO or CFO from the company, it's very critical that you go over these procedures and poses with them. When using a paid talent, it's still pretty important to go over these things, because they may not know what the implications may be. Number one. Bring, or have them bring, several options for their clothing. Number two. Make sure all their clothing is pressed and clean. Number three. Make sure they're well-groomed from head to toe. We've got the person up front, and then we've got the group of professional assistants in the background. The people in the background will be lit by the studio window light, and also the artificial light overhead. I'm going to expose for them, and a correct exposure for them will become the basis for my LinkedIn headshot. The background looks great, but my first lady is way underexposed and really doesn't work up front. If I open up enough to expose her correctly, the people in the background are going to be overexposed. I'm going to add some soft lighting, a Photoflex Small OctoDome from camera left on a Dynalite head and pack to mimic that window light. https://goo.gl/8niZqV It's an OctoDome with a grid that gives me nice control, because it keeps the light really pooled on her beautiful face. I did struggle with seeing the reflection of the camera and myself in the window, and had to put up blacks so it'd get rid of the camera reflection in that window. https://goo.gl/ApnbAi Our team spent a lot of time organizing the people in the background so it looked busy, but not cluttered.
