One thing I find hilarious about Severance season 2 so far is how Irving is trying to spy and gather data about Lumon or remember by painting but can’t get any traction. Meanwhile Mark is over here tripping over significant people and information every other day but just keeps shrugging and moving on bc it interferes with his day drinking

Gemma being Woman in the Fridge this whole time waiting to be part of the plot again but then we get a peek inside the fridge and there are claw marks and blood and she’s screaming “let me out let me out! where’s my husband?? What have you done with him?” That’s not a fucking fridge let her oit oh my god my tempers are unbalanced as fu k right now what the hell am I gonna do when the season is over and the wait begins pls don’t send me back to the fridge they make you go to the eternal dentist down there

Thinking about how Mark tears things apart to deal with his grief after the newest ep. He's so frustrated about Gemma's miscarriage and loss of his unborn child that he can't help but tear apart the crib when he's breaking it down. He tears apart Gemma's picture in front of Alexa, tears apart Petey's map after he gets retired. Tears apart his own brain through Severance after Gemma's death. Mark constantly copes with grief with destruction.

funniest part of the markhelena chinese restaurant scene is the way that helena is experiencing it as a romantic comedy and mark is experiencing it as an erotic psychological horror

it is actually kind of crazy to me how overwhelming the markhelly chemistry feels in s2 vs the way it was more subtle in s1. like i always thought they had chemistry and were v obviously flirting for a lot of the season, but i still understood people who were surprised by them kissing at the end of s1. when i finished s1 i liked them and wanted more but they didn't really register as a ship i'd get really into.

and i think there's a similarity there w the way s1 feels kind of "sexless" in general. the severed floor is white and sterile, and the world outside is cold and dead. burt and irving is sweet, but it stays physically v innocent all season. and mark and alexa is more one of those awkward, passing connections that's v human but ultimately not going somewhere, so even tho they sleep together it doesn't play the same way as the romantic stories in s2. it's too overshadowed by mark's psychological mess.

bc s1 is kind of the starting point emotionally in two ways that don't really go along with sex and romance. like first the fact that severance is metaphor for repression and cutting off the inconvenient parts of oneself and others etc etc. and then second the way that s1 is more abt childhood (according to dan erickson) vs the adolescence of s2. like, the dual states of holding this stuff back and also not really knowing that it's an option.

so it's so interesting to me that as both that repression and innocence starts to erode that the chemistry and emotion in all of these couples is coming out too. like, it turns out that what felt subtle in s1 actually probably was intentionally subtle. and it's crazy that writing/acting/directing can control that sort of effect so well that i would think that, when it feels so intense now.

Helena, having met Mark 2 seconds ago and body snatching the girl he *actually* likes: Ok but like are you HAPPILY married? Or is their room for a little homewrecking action in your life 🤔

Meanwhile, Helly hearing Mark say the phrase "we had sex": Oh you mean with your dead wife? Cool. During a wellness session?? No prob. I'm just curious honestly. Can you let me know next time so I can watch? 👀
