I agree. I know it's wishful thinking for Halo to keep it's Marathon connections even after Bungie's departure; but I do believe that Halo being scrubbed of a lot of the Marathon stuff after 343 made Halo... somewhat less interesting? Maybe not the right thing to say, but that is how I feel.

On one level I've been so thoroughly Davey Jonesed into the walls of this boat that I've made my peace with Cortana's death and the following plotline for her, mostly because I've had to in order to find a way to continue having fun.

But there's a part of me that always remembers eagerly reading through Marathon transcripts in high school and how bitterly, viciously disappointed I was with what Halo did with rampancy.
