I like it when the stars keep me company, when the gentle whispers of the wind sing to me and talk to me. They keep me company. The adventures into the unknown keep me company and at night when there is no one else but me i like how the currents in the air keep me company. They talk but they dont utter a word, they sing but they dont strike a note. We have the most entertaining conversations but it doesnt drain us. They tell me tales of places iv longed to be the person i long to become and the life i long to live, the people i long to meet and the things i want to create.
The night wind keeps me company, when no one says a word thats when we talk.

my mornings will start like this: the sun rising, quiet and chilly, a lover asleep a few scooches over; both breathing the same blue hour hue. birdsong and an alarm that doesn’t jolt me out of my skin. I’ll wake early because I’m well-slept. I’ll wake early because I want to. I leave the blankets without claw marks. if summer, I’ll open the windows and smell the earth’s wet perfume. if winter, maybe this is where I’ll build a glow in the fireplace. a quick run with the dog, a quick fill of two thirsty mugs at the counter. then, with the floorboards soaked with stillness, with the tittering of the world a good distance from my desk, I’ll read. the dog will curl in beneath my feet and I will have eaten three chapters for breakfast; pull a snoozing mass of curls from out of my eyes, and spread a clean sheet of paper for my pen to lick across. scribble without worry of reason. scribble four new poem ideas without a breath between. this will be my practice—to rise, to read, to write without pause. to gulp a few hours of creativity to myself and sort out a home for every word later.
