Sorry break from the usual stuff, just need a rant 😑 does anyone else's family insist on dressing up for every, little get together?! Like I'm most comfortable in my everyday wear and I understand the need for smart dress in circumstances like a wedding, large party etc but I'm so uncomfortable and feel like all eyes are on me the whole time because I'm not used to that.

We're going to a casual thing tonight, just a family and friends thing and I'm being made to feel like shit because I'm just not putting in an effort 😫😫😫 like why does it matter if I'm dressed in what I'm comfortable in or not. I've been wanting to msg others and be like wtf are we dressing nice but don't also want to be questioned about the need to ask and get into a whole thing.

Steve rogers being very precise with his language to the point where it annoys people. He won't say things he doesn't mean. He won't use expressions until he is 100% sure it applies. He keeps a pocket dictionary on him and frequently asks conversation partners "what do you mean when you say x" because he needs to define the terms before using them.

Because he grew up surrounded by propaganda and knows not to let his guard down to misleading language. Because he's displaced in a new world that similar but different to his, and words have new meanings now, and he can not realistically assume that he knows anything. Because he was PR trained on tour and cannot say things that aren't entirely correct or defendable. Because he knows firsthand how words can give people power they haven't earned (he was a "captain", apparently), and he won't use language that creates undeserved power dynamics.
