one of my favourite things about Joe and Georgia in Ginny & Georgia is just how much they manage to fly under everyone’s radar as a romantic couple like it makes me laugh!! 🤭
I know part of it is that Joe’s screentime is relatively shorter than the other male love interests, but barely anyone in Georgia’s life has clocked the vibe between them yet and I can count on one hand the amount of times anyone’s come even remotely close. Ellen’s clocked a bit of a vibe but she’s not a huge plot driver so that’s pretty low stakes, same with Georgia’s sister. Cynthia knows Joe has feelings for Georgia, but at this point I think she fully believes they are unrequited and that Georgia views him more as a plaything (which is funny given Cynthia was cheating on her dying husband with Joe so she should be the one who knows best that he’s completely capable of stealing someone’s wife). Paul made one comment once about Joe having a crush on Georgia but he meant it half as a joke and again genuinely doesn’t see Joe as a threat??? and like no one does??? which is crazy to me??? but, even though he is a beautiful man who owns his own business and worships the ground Georgia walks on, do you know why no one knows to be worried? because JOE MAKES MOVES IN SILENCE LIKE A REAL MAN!!!
I just find it so interesting that Joe does an insanely good job of keeping his mouth shut around Paul, Zion, Gil, etc. and giving no one anything to suspect. I think a large part of that isn’t even intentional; Joe’s just not competing with them. he’s not competing, PERIOD. his focus is on genuinely caring for her. it’s refreshing because Zion and Paul’s respective relationships with Georgia all involve multiple players: Zion has to consider Ginny, Simone, his parents, Gil, and Paul. Paul has to consider the kids, Zion, and even the city/his reputation as mayor.
that’s not to say Joe doesn’t care about her kids—he has a great relationship with Ginny—but his romance with Georgia blossoms in somewhat of a vacuum which is not only refreshing to see in a world where usually shit gets digged up constantly, but it’s also a testament to how real their love is because it’s purely about their feelings, no one else’s.

GINNY & GEORGIA (February 24, 2021 – present)
-I just came to give you these. Ginny left 'em after your bachelorette, and I just need to get them out of my possession, so… Sorry I didn't give them back to you sooner. -Cynthia? You were sleeping with Cynthia? I mean, Jesus, Joe. I thought we were friends. -Yeah, we are friends. -And I like Cynthia, God help me, I actually like her, but I just… You didn't tell me. Now these? Joe… Do you know what these are? -Yeah, I know. Did you? Of course you did. 'Cause you know everything, right? There's nothing you don't think of. -Joe. These are yours, okay? You should have them back. -No, no, just... You take the damn sunglasses, okay? Because I don't want them. Because you're engaged, and… I mean, I tried. I tried to put up boundaries and keep you at a distance. But… But you… you won't let me. You seek me out. You come to me at Christmas Eve, you flirt with me. I don't know what you're doing, Georgia, or why you're doing it. I don't know… I don't know why you kept those. I don't know why you came here.

Zion, Gil, Paul, and Joe: What They Reveal About Georgia Miller

Each relationship Georgia had wasn’t just romantic. It was a mirror for where she was emotionally, spiritually, and in terms of survival.
💔 Gil: The Predator Who Confirmed Her Worst Fears

Represents: Trauma, self-loathing, survival mode attachment
Georgia didn’t choose Gil out of love. She chose him because she believed love was dangerous and transactional.
He bought her things, love bombed her, then revealed his darkness.
She stayed because she thought this was normal. Expected. Inevitable.
Gil reinforces a belief that she’s not worthy of real care, just ownership.
Takeaway: With Gil, Georgia was surviving, not living. This wasn’t love. It was emotional enslavement.

🥀 Zion: The Love That Couldn’t Bridge the Gap

Represents: The dream, the what if, the impossible safety
Zion was Georgia’s first love, passionate, youthful, and full of possibility. He saw the real her and loved her anyway. But while he offered freedom, she needed safety.
They came from different worlds:
He had options. She had survival.
When he tried to protect her from killing her abuser, she felt betrayed. But Zion saw another way one she wasn’t able to see yet.
Georgia didn’t trust that love could last without control. She couldn’t rely on someone who didn’t understand the stakes she was up against. When Zion called CPS after learning the truth about her actions, it confirmed what she always feared that even the kindest men would choose morality over loyalty.
He loved her, but he couldn’t protect her. And Georgia learned early on that love that can’t protect you isn’t love that keeps you alive.
Takeaway: With Zion, Georgia glimpsed what love could be. But she didn’t think she deserved it.

💍 Paul: The Performative Protector

Represents: Image, safety, approval, conditional acceptance
Paul offered status. Stability. A “normal” life.
But it came with strings: Georgia had to be palatable, tame, honest.
When things got dark, Paul left not because he didn’t care but because he cared about his own image more.
Georgia tried to play the role and fake smiles for the cameras, but it cracked under pressure.
Takeaway: With Paul, Georgia tried to “fix” herself externally. It failed. He didn’t want her darkness. He wanted a version of her that didn’t exist.

🐎 Joe: The Soul Recognition

Represents: Past self, present wounds, possible healing
Joe saw Georgia before the lies. Before the mask. Before the change.
He’s the only one who recognizes her without demanding anything in return.
They never really got together, but there’s something sacred there.
Joe is what love looks like when it’s patient, still growing, and not yet ready.
And maybe that’s why it hasn’t happened yet. Georgia is still learning how to accept love that doesn’t require a performance.
Takeaway: Joe represents a future Georgia might be able to choose when she no longer sees herself as a burden or a villain.

Final Insight:

Each man marked a chapter in Georgia’s self worth.
Gil = self-destruction
Zion = misalignment
Paul = compromise
Joe = hope
Until Georgia believes she’s worthy of love that doesn’t hurt, she’ll keep choosing the version of love that mirrors her pain.

Does anyone else ever think about Eddie learning that music of all things is what can "save" people from Vecna?
Eddie Munson, who was already torn up with survivors guit over what happened to Chrissy, realizing just how easily that he of all people could have saved her.
Its like the worst kind of poetic irony

Okay, so I had a realization/thought a while back, forgot it, and now I remember it, but Ben/Adrian are literally SO Dan/Blair coded (Queen B/Golden Boy, the boy has an obsession connection with the golden girl (Amy/Serena) but they end up falling in love with the 'mean girl' (Adrian/Blair) and are frankly way more compatible with them, yet both ships get thrown in the trash for yet another run with the golden girl (at least Ben and Amy break up again for good. D*rena gets MARRIED smh.)
