A civil rights group has filed a legal complaint against George Washington University in Washington, DC, after college officials banned campus mental health services from serving Palestinian students following Israel’s attack on Gaza.
The university could shut down the entire office dedicated to supporting students’ emotional well-being over complaints from Israel advocates.
In a June Instagram post expressing solidarity and support for Palestinian rights, George Washington University’s Office of Advocacy and Support (OAS) offered trauma support services to Palestinian students affected by Israel’s attacks on Gaza the month prior.
During its 11-day bombardment of Gaza in May, Israel attacked residential buildings killing entire Palestinian families, sometimes wiping out several generations.
But those services were quickly canceled by the university administration after the campus chapter of Hillel, which is affiliated with Hillel International, a Zionist institution, claimed that the OAS offer was harmful to Jewish students.
A top administrator contacted the director of OAS and “implied an ultimatum” to the office, civil rights group Palestine Legal asserts in the complaint.
OAS could either take down the Instagram posts offering support to Palestinian students at the university, or the director would be fired, according to the complaint. OAS leadership “considered this threat credible,” Palestine Legal states.
OAS was pushed by the administration to publish a statement saying that the post “did not create a safe space for all members of our community” and to revoke the services for Palestinian students.
A student-run group, Students Against Sexual Assault, had also posted to Instagram offering peer trauma support for Palestinian students. The administration ordered the group to remove their post as well, under the same pretext that it was “harmful and exclusionary.”
George Washington University then launched an “audit” of OAS. Members of the office are no longer allowed to publish on social media or communicate with professors on behalf of students experiencing trauma, Palestine Legal says.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the entire office and its support services could be closed to all students.

To my followers, this is another trustworthy GoFundMe that needs your help. Ruba and her family are stuck in Rafah and are trying to raise the funds to leave.
Ruba and her family have lost everything they own. They are still facing constant bombing from Israel and the threat of illnesses and food shortage. Her father's health is dire right now, while there is no medical infrastructure left in Gaza to help him and a lack of supplies.
They've only reached €856 of their goal of €50,000
The situation is urgent and I'm making a post in the hopes of getting Ruba's story out more exposure. Please donate and share! Anything you can spare will help this family.
You can also reach Ruba here on tumblr @rubaabushaban

seven years ago in the name of tolerating free speech from all political perspectives my nasty ass evil university let an army of tiki torch wielding nazis shouting jews will not replace us march through grounds threatening the lives of students and community members with zero police presence. and today they retroactively changed campus policy around tents so they could send in the cops to bust up the gaza memorial vigil. genuinely fucking stomach turning

As protests start ramping up and violence escalates please remember:
DO NOT PUT MILK IN YOUR EYES FOR PEPPER SPRAY OR TEAR GAS.
It can and will cause infection due to bacteria. Flush with water, distilled if possible, and never EVER wear contact lenses to protests where there may be police retaliation.
Please reblog. It may save someone's sight.

Just a reminder for people who may not know, in light of protestors at UCLA being shot in the face with rubber bullets— rubber bullets are not bullets made of rubber. They are metal bullets encased in rubber.
Despite being called “non-lethal” or sometimes “less lethal”, they are well known to cause death and permanent disability.
Here’s a photo showing their size— these are actual rubber bullets used during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.

Do not let them downplay the severity of what they are subjecting this students to for standing against genocide. Stay safe and stay educated.
EDIT: Twitter banned @/nosferatusexgod, the student shot, whose tweet I linked to (as a primary source) at the top of the post. Screenshots of the tweet I originally linked to can be found here.

As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.
It's disgusting this is what we're dealing with, but people are losing money because of some truly evil people out there.
Accounts don't just randomly spring up on tumblr without gofundmes while asking for someone to help them create a campaign. Fuck out of here with that shit.

To my fellow US protestors who fights against apartheid and genocide. Here's his account.
P.S:
"Be advised, police have the tools to detect who's phones are at a protest. If you can, bring a recording device other than your phone." Thanks @lercymoth for the extra info. I'll put it here so more people can see.

just a reminder that we have a democrat president, a dem majority in our senate, new york has a democratic fascist former cop mayor, and almost all higher ups in universities usually follow some forms of neoliberalism/democratic centrism. do not let anyone tell you that voting blue is going to save our country when we are in one of the very few times in american history where we have a blue lean in most positions of power. even with that all that, they’re still willing to call the cops and swat to brutalize and possibly murder kids for protesting for divestment and liberation from zionism

The internet is flooded with AI-generated photos and they're getting harder to spot.
Most of the time AI is used for click-farming, but lately images have been used in fake news stories and product scams.
Most important: THINK CRITICALLY. AI will eventually get too good to make obvious mistakes. Being media literate means checking not just if an image is real, but if the source is trustworthy.
If you're not sure, don't share! You might be spreading misinformation.

So this post is how I found out the U.K. made a deportation agreement with Rwanda, to mass deport Sudanese and other migrants to fucking RWANDA. None of this makes any fucking sense.
And it's not just Sudanese people on the list of deportees, although they seemingly make up a considerable percentage. Iranian, Afghani, and Syrian prople are also on the list of deportees.
May England burn to the ground. And may Rwanda's leaders choke on the moneh they're making destroying the lives of Sudanese and other SWANA and African peoples. 7500 lives being uprooted TWICE if not more. I'm disgusted.

While police around the country are raiding campuses and brutalizing student protesters, the authorities are once again trotting out narratives about "outside agitators."
They do this whenever a movement gets out of their control. It is one of the most basic tactics in their playbook, and they employ it indiscriminately.
As we wrote in 2014, during the demonstrations in Ferguson in response to the murder of Michael Brown,
"Rhetoric about 'outside agitators' is a military operation intended to isolate and target an enemy: divide and conquer. The enemy that the authorities are aiming at is predominantly black and brown, but it is not just a specific social body; it is also an aspect of our humanity, a part of all of us. The ultimate goal of the police is not so much to brutalize and pacify specific individuals as it is to extract rebelliousness itself from the social fabric. They seek to externalize agitation, so anyone who stands up for herself will be seen as an outsider."

Unpopular Opinion Time
The doodle you make or the picrew you use, the poorly executed poetry or basic bare bones prayer will ALWAYS be better than AI generated offerings.
I am sick of having my feed flooded with practitioners, pagans and other polytheists using AI. Specifically deities like Brigid should never be offered AI in my opinion, it’s essentially a slap in the face.
AI generated spells aren’t shit, it’s what a computer assumes will work based off of what it can gather from internet trends and research. MAKE IT YOURSELF, ask a human for help anything but AI.
There is no place for Artificial Intelligence in these spaces.

Another thing is that when this aggression started, we were so worried about winter and how displaced people in tents will survive it. Earlier this week the temperature in Gaza hit 38 degrees (100 Fahrenheit) and we are now wondering how will displaced people survive the heat in those tents.
