A little bit of info on Ruby here.

She ends up trying to double cross Lucifer at the last moment due to attachment and still ends up getting killed which offsets Lucifers arrival as is part of canon.

But she somehow returns back, making her way back to Sam. Due to the powers that be she even maintains her vessel. She continues to work with Sam on hunts, sometimes going off on her own to do things for herself. But always eventually making her way back to him.
