“I always walk three steps behind him to his left. Anything that comes toward him from behind, I encounter first. I can clearly see what advances to his right and his left. I also have my sights on what approaches ahead. If I stand beside my King, I can only focus on what’s ahead and if he swings his sword…I will surely be struck. Three steps behind is the most powerful position for a Queen.”

Mix together : - coconut oil - avocado - greek yogurt
Leave on the hair 45mn under plastic bag or shower cap.
Avocados, much like eggs, are a very rich source of vitamin A and antioxidants all great for hair, especially if damaged.
Greek yogurt, or really any yogurt is a great for hair because it restores moisture and strengthens the hair all in one shot. The enzymes in yogurt are also known to relieve an itchy scalp and combat dandruff.
Olive oil its one of the top emollients that can penetrate the hair better than others, and its lightweight nature makes it great for moisturizing. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties that promote scalp health and prevent dandruff. Extra virgin olive oil is also rich in high levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, an antioxidant important for hair growth.

TOP 5 Do’s and Don’ts of Natural Hair
Do’s
Moisturize your hair EVERYDAY (Alcohol free products)
Wear a satin scarf EVERY NIGHT
Wear a protective style at least 2 days a week (But still try to moisturize hair and scalp)
ONLY comb and detangle while hair is wet, hair is the strongest at this state.
Seal in moisture with oils (select oils based on personal needs)
Don’ts
Keep hands out of your hair, your hands included (this dries out hair)
Don’t apply heat to hair frequently (this should be done in moderation)
Don’t wear small braids or twist often (this should also be done in moderation)
Don’t pull hair back in type ponytails or buns often (this thins edges)
Don’t use shampoo unless its a natural hair care line, that’s sulfate free (this strips hair of natural oils)
Co Washing is an AMAZING substitute.

Natural hair tips
Deep conditioning is essential to growth hair 👍🏾. But leaving deep conditioner pass 30mn will not provide extra moisture.
Deep conditioning overnight or for days can result on bacteria and breakage especially for people with high porosity hair.
People with low porosity may not experience problems with overnight deep conditioning.
The better way to get the most out of a deep conditioner is to create heat 👌🏾. This can be done while working out, getting in the shower or using a hooded dryer.

Natural Hair 101
1. Only comb or finger detangle when wet (hair is the strongest in this state.) 2. Always apply some sort of moisturizer/leave in conditioner. 3. Make sure you are familiar with the ingredients (no alcohol based products, leads to dryness) 4. Seal in moisture with oil, any type. Look up the benefits of each oil and create a concoction based on your needs. 4. Always cover your hair with a satin scarf or bonnet when sleeping (even those nights you don’t want to) 5. Drink lots of water. Hydrated body leads to hydrated hair. 6. Wear a protective style a few days each week. Something that doesn’t tug on hair too much and make sure you are moisturizing while the style is in. 7. Try to limit applying heat to your hair. Blow dryers, flat irons, etc. 8. Moisturize your scalp. If your scalp is dry it will lead to dry hair as well.
9. Try and enjoy each length. Don’t put pressure on yourself for it to grow very fast because it will only frustrate you.
10. Don’t be afraid to be creative and daring. You will be surprised at how much you can do with you hair at each length.

Transitioning Hair Masterpost
This one took some effort on my part because I transitioned precisely 5 million years ago but I did some research and this is what I found.
The no. 1 key is to be patient. You won’t have perfect hair overnight or in two weeks. Being patient can be especially hard if you don’t have support from your friends and family. All of the women in my family are natural (with the exception of my sister) so I didn’t really have that problem but a lot of people do. This is why online natural communities (like this one) are so great.
Do research on your hair type. Find advice from people with hair similar to yours. Hours of hair research is pointless if the people that you’re getting advice from hair completely different hair. Always remember that everyone’s hair is different so you need to experiment and find out what works for you.
Trimming your hair relatively often is probably a good idea (if your hair is damaged). You’ll probably have or get split ends. This prevents breakage from getting out of control and it’s good for long term hair health. (Trim about once a month)
Apparently shampooing in sections can prevent some breakage. This video shows you how to do so.
Moisturizing is super important! Products like Shea Moisture will keep your hair hydrated. And always remember to seal in moisture with a natural oil.
Deep condition every 1-2 weeks. I’ve posted my own deep conditioner recipes here and here.
It’s best to stay away from direct heat because it’s so damaging. If you must straighten your hair this is the way to do it. (to the anon that asked me about straightening there ends, this is a better option)
You should try wearing protective styles. You’ll be surprised on how great they look on you even though your hair is mixed texture. Try bantu knots/bantu knot out, twist outs, braid outs, curl formers, straw sets, buns, braids, etc. Here’s a link on styling transitioning hair.
Brands like Carol’s Daughter and Shea Moisture have transitioning sets, try them!
Over time and experimentation build a hair regimen. When you find out what works for you stick with it. It’ll always change overtime as you try new things and learn more about your hair!
I hope this post helps, Tell me if I left anything out!
