"Concern"
Oh man, this comic was hard to translate and maybe what I wrote isn't too great, but I tried to convey the misunderstanding based on the word that Belkia said.
He told Tsubaki that he's generous, using the word 太っ腹 that literally translates as 'big-bellied', but it means generous or big-hearted and Tsubaki apparently thought that Belkia actually commented on the size of his belly. Tsubaki was like "What do you mean? I'm skinny!", so it was obvious to me that he didn't understand that Belkia was calling him generous.
So, yeah it was a challenge to convey that misunderstanding so that it made sense with Tsubaki's reply.
Ultimately, I included the word 'generosity' in Belkia's line so that readers will know that was the context and I also had him make a comment about Tsubaki's belly using 'extravagant' which, in my opinion, covered meanings like ''grand', 'big' and I thought it made sense with Tsubaki's reply, believing he was called fat xD
Tsubaki wanted to eat at a traditional sushi restaurant and based on the context of the comic, I wrote Belkia's line with the idea that he was implying that Tsubaki is fancy or an extravagant person.
So yeah, hopefully I managed to incorporate the meanings of the word that Belkia used.
I would like to know your opinions about it!

Servamp chapter 144 translation "Alicein Mikuni-JUDGEMENT

READ THE CHAPTER ON MANGADEX!
Translation notes:
Page 11

He's most likely referring to his ability “Coppelius Coppelia" from chapter 122 .
Page 16
Perhaps some of you recognize who is talking in the last panel. I assume it must be Mikuni, but I'm not certain...If it might sound familiar to you, please let me know!

Page 22
"I knew that would happen". "To know" was the furigana reading while the other reading was 'to predict/to estimate"

Page 25
Oh boy, I had some trouble understanding what Mikuni was trying to say because of a word that he uses that needs explaining.
If I'm right, he was commenting on what Kuro told him about Germain in regard to turning back time. Mikuni is apparently saying that Germaine failed to rewind time, most likely because he was affected by Kuro's death and perhaps and this is just my speculation, he had to more complicated magic stuff. Perhaps if he didn't revive Kuro as soon as possible, he was going to loose him forever.
Mikuni said the word 渦中 which can be translated as (in the middle of a) scandal; controversy; quarrel; turmoil. It also has the meanings of "maelstrom, vortex."
So yeah, the word is often used metaphorically to describe being caught in the middle of a difficult or chaotic situation.

Last page

Mikuni calls it the 'first round' and here's a fun fact. While looking to see how it could be translated, I found the term used in the context of video games, so it's basically "'first playthrough" and when the kanji for number 2 is used 二周目 it means 'new game plus'.
If Mikuni was known to be a gamer like Kuro, I could have used those terms xD
Lastly, the line at the bottom of the page, "Mikuni's 'world' begins..."
The word to start/to begin is commonly written as 始める (hajimeru) but here it is written as 創める which is used more in literary works and it has the nuance of 'creating, founding, establishing'.
Tanaka-sensei once again chose a word that reflects a theme.
The Book of Genesis in Japanese is written 創世記 and as you can see, the first kanji is the one I explained earlier.
So yeah, hope you liked these notes and let me know your thoughts about the chapter!

Servamp Complete guidebook questions and answers about the Alicein household.
The guidebook has many questions and it will take a while to translate them, so, here's just a fewand I chose the ones that are about the Alicein family.
To avoid spoilers, I'm not translating them in order and I wrote the ones I consider spoilers towards the end of the post, mentioning what chapter you should know before reading them.
In regard to the majority of questions, you should be familiar with volumes 3-4.
Let me know if the way I'm writing these translations is okay because I don't want people to get spoiled.
Q1: Will Misono grow taller?
A: He will.
Q2: How old was Misono when he made the contract with Lily?
A: He was 9 years old.
Q3: What was the name given to Lily by Mikage?
A: When Mikage passed away, the name was lost.
Q4: Did Mikado-san ever thought of inheriting the vampire of lust?
A: He probably did when he was a child, but it seems like he lost the desire for it around the time he got married.
Q5: What did Mikado feel about Mikuni while he was cast out of his home? It feels a bit sad to think that his love was only directed towards Misono…
A: It’s not that he didn’t have love for Mikuni, but I think, deep down, he was somewhat afraid of Mikuni, who had the eyes of a child that could see right through people.
Q6: I personally think Mikado-san is quite a terrible person, but what did the members of the Alicein family think of him?
A: They see him as a weak-minded person. However, since they also know that he has been a hard worker since childhood, they can’t bring themselves to speak too badly of him.
Q7: Did Mikado-san know that Mikuni was part of C3? Also, how many years was Mikuni in C3?
A: Yes, he knew and had even requested protection for Mikuni. Mikuni was in C3 for about three years.
Q8 is at the end of the post.
Q9: What was the name that Mikuni's mother gave Doubt Doubt?
A: When she died, that name was lost forever.
Q10: Does Mikuni's mother's family know about the Alicein family incident and Misono?
A: They’ve been informed to some extent.
Q11: Did Mitsuki-chan and Dodo go to school?
A: Dodo went up to high school and Mitsuki went all the way to college.
Q12 is at the end of the post.
Q13: What kind of business does the Alicein family publicly run? A: They are involved in the trade industry.
Q14: How many servants are there in the Alicein family’s mansion? A: Currently, there are about 20 people.
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 125 and 127!
Q8: I thought everything had a reason and that I understood it all, but as someone without a musical ear, the only thing that kept bothering me was, what song Mikuni's mother's music box was playing.
A: "Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring" by Bach. It's a piece often played around Christmas, featuring a series of triplets.
(Note, in Japanese it says "3"を連符の続く. The number 3 is emphasized most likely because Jeje is the third Servamp.)
Q12: It seems that Mikuni's mother was betrothed, but are marriages between magicians common?
A: Yes, they are quite common.

The Servamp Complete Guidebook

I looked over the guidebook and OMG, it has about 16 pages of questions that sensei has answered!
There are so many! It will take a long time if I were to translate the questions and answers.
Another feature of the guidebook is the timeline, so if you want to look into specific events, it's very useful because the volume and chapter numbers are listed for them!
The character profiles have extra information such as the last part which says "Things I want to try someday".
In Mahiru's case, he wants to travel abroad.
What I noticed for some character profiles, particularly the non-Japanese ones is that they don't have their country of origin listed like in the first guidebook.
Some of the parameters have changed. The ones that are same like in the first guidebook are physical strength, tactics, cooperativeness and mental state. in the first guidebook, the characters had a parameter for their appearance but now they have agility.
The last parameter for each character is basically a personal trait.
I'd say that "strong suit" can be an appropriate term.
For example, Mahiru has a 10 out of 10 regarding "trust in his partner". in the first guidebook he had ""careness".
So yeah, the guidebook provides plenty of lore. I'm grateful for Tanaka-sensei for making such an awesome guidebook for the fans!

Servamp chapter 143 translation "I will be your sheath"

Read the chapter on MangaDex!
TRANSLATION NOTES
The title in my opinion has a connection with the previous chapter if you check out the last translation note I made there.
Page 4
The third panel on the left was translated based on the furigana, while the other reading says: 限界距離は延び耐久性は上がり which means "The distance limit has been extended, and durability has increased. So the other translation would be "The distance limit has been extended, and durability has increased. Even though the first, "Sloth" is exceptionally strong, it doesn’t make sense that I, the eighth, would be overpowered."
"Latest model" is the furigana reading for "I, the eight (one)"
Page 22
I like how Tanaka sensei used a word that reflects imagery associated Tsubaki. He calls Belkia 助太刀 which means 'help' 'assistance', particularly in the context of a fight and the last two kanji mean "tachi", a Japanese sword, which has a strongly curved blade and is longer than a katana. It was used on the battlefield before it.
So yeah, it's interesting when characters use words/expressions that reflect aspects of their personality.
Page 26
There is a change in how Tsubaki talks about Saint-Germain The words 'that person' is the furigana reading for sensei, which might indicate that he considers him differently.
There is also a different reading in the second to last speech bubble.先生にとっての『世界』がきみだけだったから.
The word in parenthesis means "world' and the furigana reads 他人 (tanin) which means 'others' or 'strangers'.
Based on the above sentence, it can be translated as "To that person, the world meant only you."
Hope these notes are useful!

Servamp volume 3 bonus comics.
"Team Envy's lunchtime" and "Team Melancholy's lunchtime".
i have the official localization of the comics and it left out the part regarding Jeje where it says that he isn't included and because of that, in my opinion, it doesn't convey that Mikuni is a jerk.
Sure, it's just him and Abel, huh? xD It's funny that Jeje has girls over him and Mikuni doesn't :))
Also, I'm not sure what Mikuni meant in the lines outside the speech bubble in the first panel...Like he was saying that he wants a fancier lunch so why did he say something like "Abel you're the best"?.
I think maybe he was implying that it was Abel who chose where to have lunch, most likely a cafe if teenage girls where there. So yeah, it could be that he was saying that although he wants something fancy every now and then, Mikuni will always choose whatever Abel wants.
Yeah...It was Abel who told him, right? XD
As for team Melancholy, I think Tsubaki spoils Otogiri the most :)

The final chapter
Hello everyone!
At the time of writing the post, the final chapter hasn't been published and thus I want to announce that I will not read it until I'm done translating the remaining chapters and for that, I hope you will be patient because I can't say how long it will take me.
Because I do not wish to get spoiled, I will not go in the Servamp tag for a while and I took precautions on Twitter as well.
I don't want to read the final chapter because that would make it difficult for me to translate 'cause I would be devastated...
I hope you can understand that.
It's been almost eight years since I picked up the manga to translate...Servamp is precious to me and I'm not ready to read the final chapter yet...
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the years!
It would have been difficult for me to translate without any support, so it made me happy when I would receive feedback on my translations notes and see people making theories.
I hope the contributions provided by me and other fans have have managed to make you appreciate Servamp :)
Feedback was more important to me than likes/reblogs and unfortunately that's something that I hardly received in other fandoms, making me disheartened.
This is the only fandom where I think my work was appreciated, again as someone who translates and thus providing explanations for words, it was important for me to get feedback.
Thank you for showing your appreciation for Servamp and being an awesome community!
#servamp#kitty posts#I'm sorry that I won't be able to participate when the chapter will be published :(
