Introducing: Creator Tools
Blaze
Set dashboards ablaze the world over! Just picture it: your art spread far and wide across Tumblr, delighting dashboards wherever it goes, illuminating phones and faces. Blaze your latest creations and send them out for hundreds of thousands of new viewers to enjoy.
Domains & Custom Themes
Customize your URL and your theme. We have a bunch of custom domains (including .art!) that you can purchase here.
And, while you’re at it, why not spruce things up a bit? If your blog is your online portfolio, you’ll want it to stand out and tell the story of who you are as an artist. Tumblr has thousands of customizable themes for you to choose from. You can even get crafty and create and share a new theme for others to use, or build one from scratch and keep it to yourself.
Commissions Open
Here on Tumblr, we love a good tchotchke. It’s no surprise, then, that we have many digital bits and bobs for you to browse, buy, and gift to friends. You might have heard of the crabs. You may have seen a Very Important Blue Checkmark pop up now and again. But did you know we have a badge, especially for artists? It’s a “Commissions Open” badge. Let your fans know you’re open for work with one simple badge, and watch the commissions roll in.
Coming soon: Artists, Writer, & Photographer Badges
Look out for these badges at the end of the month! You’ll be able to add them to your blog—even mix & match between different badges—to let your followers know what you’re working on or how you identify creatively.

Artist Alley
Sell prints (coasters! mugs! tchotchkes!) of your work on our Artist Alley—to an audience invested in you and actively seeking these things from their next favorite artist. You supply your product images and the link to your online storefront, and we share them with the wider community. That’s it. We don’t take a cut, and there’s no sneaky fine print. Just good, simple community growth and sales, all in one! And, once your feature period is past, your blog and store links remain on our artist roster for folks to browse at will.
Tumblr Tuesday on Staff
Tumblr Tuesday is a weekly post on the Staff blog that features Tumblr artists’ recent artwork on a specific theme. Themes range from film and gaming fanart (from Barbie to Baldur’s Gate 3), through Tumblr-native meme events (Goncharov, Bug Race), to the rich array of monthly art challenges that live on Tumblr (it doesn’t stop at Mermay, oh no! We’ve got Goblin week, Julycanthropy, Smaugust, Doggust, and Yeehawgust, too, to name but a few).
The Tumblr Radar
Tumblr Radar is a blog that reblogs a new piece of art four times a day and feeds our dashboard unit on web, circling through new art at every refresh. Submit your art, and it’ll be featured on the right side of everyone’s dash.

Here’s how we celebrate our Artists on Tumblr:
Introducing: The Tumblr Art Blog
Our official Art blog features submissions from creators across the globe, as well as the following editorial series that highlight all the creators on Tumblr (that could be you!). You can contact us about any of these opportunities via our Messages or our Ask box.
Creator Spotlight
The Creator Spotlight is an interview series with the artists thriving on Tumblr today—a deep dive into their minds, craft, and creations. Reach out to us, and you, too, could be answering questions about your work and sharing that work with an immense new audience.
Meet the Artist
A beloved format the internet over, our Meet the Artist on Tumblr series provides a brief but aesthetic introduction to the many creators in our midst. We like to invite featured artists to include selected works to showcase alongside this little slice of internet artistry.
OC Intros
Our OC intros are a way to take a peek behind the curtains of character design. Do you have an original character you simply must share with the world? Want to get people excited about a character-driven project you’re working on? This may be just the ticket!
Halloween
We run an annual art challenge to celebrate Tumblr’s national holiday, Halloween. This year’s challenge, Curséd Costumes with Hewie & Bones, will kick off in earnest in the last week of October. Come join us!

Hello, we’re big fans of your work.
Welcome, or welcome back, to Tumblr. As an artist who works in online spaces, you most likely know a thing or two about us. But you may not know everything, so let’s dive into it.
We love our #Artists on Tumblr, and we’re proud of providing a place where so many incredible creators come to share their work, build community, and discuss the finer points of their craft.
Tumblr is a readymade community naturally inclined to love your work. Think of it as your online studio with many options: A portfolio, your calling card for your creations with in-built social engagement and loyal fans, or an online drawing board, a place to hash out ideas, share sketches, and gather feedback. Take requests and commissions or join art challenges like Goblin Week, Mermay, Julycanthropy, and Yeehawgust. Discuss the finer points of your favorite brushes. Create OC art for your favorite writers on Tumblr. Create a webcomic. Posters. T-shirts. Ceramics.
Tumblr is a world that exists because people like you make beautiful things for people like us—and it’s only as good as the artists and audiences who make it their online home. Which means it’s very good, actually. You’re here because we love your work and think you’ll fit right in.
Join us, dear artist!
Our editorial team is here to promote your content globally across Tumblr and help you reach your fans right where they’re already gathered. You’ve already got the good stuff. We’ve got communities on communities of fine folk who appreciate your good stuff.
Get started today! Send us a message and say hello.
