Homestuck Anime Funny Outcome 1: The show is a fucking disaster ruined by notorious mismanagement the likes of which are far more interesting than any book could be, like Hiveswap but with C-list celebrities instead of random teenagers.

Homestuck Anime Funny Outcome 2: The show is a smash success, and while Homestuck doesn't quite regain the con domination of 2012, episodes get 10 million+ views and it's an Amazing Digital Circus Tier hit that gets 50 episodes (enough to cover the whole comic!) and a netflix original movie. Discourse between anime-onlies and comic-onlies is cringe and terrible.

Homestuck Anime Actual Likely Outcome: The show is a 7/10. Season 1 covers acts 1-4, and gets like two million views an episode, enough to get a season 2, but the show's canceled with a severely abridged Act 6 (and nothing of value is lost).

Honestly part of the problem with this obsession with only consuming unproblematic fiction is that people are less likely to acknowledge when something is harmful. If you so much as say hey this one joke in this one episode was offensive fans will write you an essay on why it wasn’t. Because they’ve created a world view where this is basically accusing them of being a bad person who has committed an unforgivable sin.

Most fantasy games basically do this but I actually respect final fantasy 14 for not even PRETENDING that the nations of etherys aren't analogous to real world cultures. Like look at this shit. Look at the map. It's like copyright-safe earth.

A lot of games take place in Fantasy Europe and also maybe include Fantasy Asia but here we literally also go to Fantasy America and the Fantasy Middle East and Fantasy Russia and it just becomes like. a bit. like we are just on an alternate earth or something and you can just go somewhere and the architecture and fashion will match. It's honestly played so straight that I like it
