Ok, in a effort to talk more about what i like and therefor find more people with similar interests im gonna start living up to me name more and get back to rambling

and today my chosen topic is "bird names that piss me off."

I'm going to start with this guy. Currently known as the "pink cockatoo"

Growing up i knew this guy as the "Major Mitchel's cockatoo" and after hearing the reason. (major Mitchel was involved in massacres of Aboriginal people) im all for changing it. fuck that guy. But come on, Pink cockatoo? i know Pink cockatoo was its name at a point before being changed to major Mitchel so it makes sense that they'd go back to one it already had. but that doesnt mean i cant be annoyed that it had that name in the first place.

now why im i annoyed that this guy is called "pink cockatoo"

well look at these guys!! Theyre stunning~!!

and youre just gonna give this guy the most uncreative name of "pink cockatoo"??

now if you just saw them with wings closed and crest down id think just calling them the pink cockatoo would be fair

But when they got a crest and underwing like that i would argue for a name that better compliments that majesty.

and besides theyre not the only pink cockatoo. here we have the moluccan/salmon crested cockatoo and the galah. the moluccan is more subtle in its pink, but the galah? they responded to the question "how pink do you want your pink bit to be?" with "YES"

as for what name id want the pink cockatoo to have idk. Maybe following the pattern of "sulphur crested cockatoo, salmon cockatoo" and something like that. but admittedly names like that can be a bit wordy. For a lead into this i must say from a purely word perspectuve i like the name "major Mitchell" Its alliterative, both words have two syllables with emphasis on the first one. its got good rhythm. So my mind keeps going to things like "majestic cockatoo (i like the rhythm of the word and its got the j sound) or magnificent cockatoo" and so on i just love those guys so much and i dont think pink cockatoo does how beautiful they are justice
