Original Song: “Everybody Hurts”- R.E.M.

Why it Suffers: The joke is that they’re parodying the music video to “Everybody Hurts”, Trent even mentions it so with generic music the scene is confusing and the joke doesn’t work.

Context: When Daria was airing on MTV(1997-2001), MTV legally had access to use any music to use in their shows,”Daria” was no exception as the background music varied from Foo Fighters, Spice Girls, Will Smith, and R.E.M. Because it’s expensive paying for music royalties, MTV has now replaced all licensed music with generic music whether you’re watching Daria on the DVD, iTunes, Hulu or even reruns on MTV (Classic). Unfortunately without the original intended music, the show loses some of it’s original flare and nostalgia. Also there are many scenes where replacing the music ruins the joke, mood, and can cause confusion. So I’m taking it upon myself to pair original music with certain scenes in “Daria” that significantly suffer from not having it’s original music. Please feel free to suggest scenes/songs here!

modern robb stark’s the type of guy to use the little blushing smiling emoji with the little jazz hands after everything he texts (🤗) and the people he texts (mostly his family and theon) think this is endearing the majority of the time except for when he goes into responsible eldest daughter syndrome cat stark mode and texts the starklings groupchat something like “bran you forgot to do the dishes 🤗” or “theon’s using my car this weekend and rickon needs to get to his under 8s football match so you’re driving him sansa 🤗” and then he becomes public enemy number one so much so that the first time gendry sends that emoji over like imessage to arya she just straight up blocks him
