An Italian-style estate, I was inspired by the house of my ancestors who came from there.

Today we will go to the main house of Dixon Gardens to see its interior (finally)
Tumblr media
As soon as you pass through the door we have the main hall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the right of the Hall is Mrs. Margot's writing room. Her favorite color was blue and she loved the French chateau aesthetic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behind Mrs. Margot's writing room is the living room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the right of the living room we have the solarium
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the left of the living room is the large hall built at the time to host family events but for a long time it ended up being used only as a living room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through this room you have access to the external patio with the most beautiful view of the city
Tumblr media
returning to the house, to the left of the large hall we have the dining room
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
passing through the door at the end of the dining room we have Mr Hartley's office
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
from here we return to the main hall and that's the end…

I would like to share my Ralph Lauren store with you today.
Tumblr media
I left it very simple so as not to weigh down the game too much since I don't usually use community lots that much anymore.
Tumblr media
I apologize in advance for the mannequins lol

Today I'm going to start the long-awaited tour of Old Dixon Gardens!
Tumblr media
Three-quarter rear right view
This is a former Dixon family home, built in 1900 to permanently move from the Apple Hall plantation to the city, when it became more "civilized" to live in more elegant homes in urban centers. However, its use as a main home was short-lived when in 1919, Margot Dixon, the family matriarch, decided that they would move to the summer house at Brindleton Bay, which in theory was less opulent and could enjoy a more "simple and quiet" life away from the hustle and bustle of the "Roaring Twenties".
In a letter to her brother, Margot tells about the new address and, among other things, says:
We moved to escape the "Glamour of this time"; all this modernity, wasteful ostentation and extravagant, noisy and extremely theatrical parties, it frightens me, I want to keep my family away from this "golden chaos".
The Carolean Revival-style estate, situated on a hill in the Valle Del Sol, has stunning views of the city and features 17 rooms, including 6 bedrooms, 4 state-of-the-art bathrooms, a kitchen, a writing room, a living room, a dining room, a library, a ballroom, a parlor, a foyer and an event courtyard adjacent to the ballroom, a full pool cottage and the carriage house, which was later modernized in the 1930s to accommodate more modern transportation.
Tumblr media
In the photo you can see the three buildings that make up the estate
We start with the Pool Cottage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From here I can see the house as well as the spectacular view of the sky at night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pool chalet consists of a kitchen, two changing rooms and a living porch in addition to the pool, of course.
Now let's go to the stables...
Tumblr media
It is immediately clear that there are no horses or carriages here anymore
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is admirable that they have kept the building standing with the same characteristics as when it was built, of course with some modifications to the interior.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the second floor we have an attic, a bedroom and the stablemaster's office (both deactivated)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the back we have a closed patio, which was previously used for maintenance of the carriages and movement of the horses which came from the other stable behind (today the staff quarters of the house).
Tumblr media
Well, that's all for now, folks. In the next post we'll go up to the house to see what the inside is like.

Finally, the tour in Straudridge ends outside, now without all that snow to cover absolutely everything you can imagine. This winter ended up being a little more extreme than the others lol.
Tumblr media
three-quarter front elevation.
Tumblr media
left elevation. I like to think that in all elevations it ends up looking like the main face of a house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
rear elevation.
Tumblr media
right elevation.

From an aerial view. This house really is big for a normal house. I tried to use a 50/50 ratio (50% construction, 50% land) so that it doesn't look like a square block thrown on a square of land.

View of Straudridge's main hall from the upstairs gallery, one of my favorite views of the house in particular. From here you can see all three of Straudridge's main rooms.

Straudridge Hall second floor gallery.
It gives access to the rooms and has a privileged view of the main hall. (seen in the next post)

I asked the artificial intelligence to create a portrait of Margot Dixon, the owner of Old Dixon Gardens. What did you think? lol
