Closer by NIN - Covered by Kawehi from Kawehi on Vimeo.
2 DAYS LEFT: kickstarter.com/projects/kawehi/usa-the-project I remember the first time I heard this song. I was fresh out of high school, driving with the windows down to my job at Jamba Juice from Waikiki beach. I could feel the sun on my skin from laying out - and I still smelt of salt water. I'm sure I was running late to work (sorry, Malia!). And then this song comes on the radio. I remember pulling over on the side of the street - I've never heard anything like it up to this point. And my initial response was bigger than "I like this song" or "I don't like this song." It was a feeling that took over, a sense of wonder and unfamiliarity.
Paul and I really wanted to change things up - because change is always a good thing. Dare to do something that you'd never think of doing. After receiving Ableton, I thought the best way to learn how the hell to use it was by doing a video. It helped - I love how Ableton gives you endless possibilities to create music. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it!

Cal Newport: "Follow Your Passion" Is Bad Advice from 99U on Vimeo.
American culture is obsessed with the idea that we need to "find our passion" in order to be happy and successful. But there's a problem: "It's astonishingly bad piece of advice," says best-selling author Cal Newport. We have no pre-existing passion. Instead, passion is found by first building a rare and valuable talent and using it to take control of your career path. In other words, be so good and work so hard that no one can ignore you.
About Cal Newport
Cal Newport is an author and a professor computer science at Georgetown University. His writing focuses on unconventional advice for life in school and after graduation. His most recent book, So Good They Can't Ignore You, argues that "follow your passion" is bad advice. Newport's writing and ideas regularly appear in major publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Post, and Inc. Magazine.

A Moment With - Choki Lindberg from BLACKBIRD Film on Vimeo.
We love Choki Lindberg´s photographs of settings with careful attention to lighting, textures, colours and details. What we see are actually meticulously crafted scale models of spaces that, when photographed, create a "condensed reality". Strange and beautiful spaces that leave room for us to associate freely.

BURMA - "Please Use your Freedom to promote ours" from dimitra stasinopoulou on Vimeo.
Burma (renamed Myanmar by the military dictatorship in 1989) has been ruled by one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world since 1962. These photographs are a glimpse onto the hinterland of this amazing, beautiful country, where the people endure one of the worst regimes in the world with an incredible stoicism and dignity. The viciousness of the regime, the hardships, people’s daily struggle for survival, the poverty, the kindness, the quiet dignity, as well as the hope, are documented through the lens, along with their souls. Dedicated to Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma’s icon of democracy. The woman who personifies all meaning of resistance, every hope for freedom, who is the outstanding example of the power of the powerless

SIGUR RÓS | VARÚÐ. music video from Nils Clauss on Vimeo.
Screened at the Group exhibition at Culture Station Seoul 284, 1st Prize Audience Award 7th Premiers Courts International Filmfestival 2012, shortlisted for the 2013 Film Grant Award of "The Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation for Documentary Photography & Film".
URBAN ISLAND is a music video by Nils Clauss and Namhui Park for the song VARÚÐ by Icelandic band SIGUR RÓS. It is a portrait of a homeless man in his forties, who has lived on the streets of Seoul for more than 8 years. He has been part of a small homeless community for the past four years, which camps out in a little park next to the train tracks of Yongsan Station. As the man strictly refuses to receive charity, he frequents the city streets each night to make a living by collecting recyclables.
Documenting the hardships of a homeless person working and living within the metropolitan city, challenges general prejudices against people living on the margins of society. The little park next to Yongsan Station, which this community frequents, can be considered as a significant space to find escape and shelter. It also though shows how people are excluded and fenced away from general society. Not only visually, but also in reality this little park is like a small island in the middle of the urban center of Seoul. It is for the audience to decide, if it is island of refugee or exile.

The Mexican Suitcase by Trisha Ziff, film trailer from DEVELOP Tube on Vimeo.
The Mexican Suitcase trailer was shown as part of the DEVELOP Photo line-up for the first edition of the On Photography Online Film Festival, 9/29/13. The Festival was part of the FOTOWEEK in Holland, an initiative of FOAM and the Netherlands Photo Museum, and was organized by Barbera Brakel of Photo Affairs. opfestival.nl/
The Mexican Suitcase is a 90 minute feature documentary that tells the extraordinary story of the recovery of 4,500 negatives taken by photographers Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David Seymour during the Spanish Civil War, with an extraordinary score by composer Michael Nyman. The film reveals the story of the journey of these lost negatives from France to Mexico.
The Mexican Suitcase is a film about photography and pictures taken by photographers who would become icons of the twentieth century. They photographed with a Leica and changed the way we saw war. All three would die while documenting wars. The Mexican Suitcase tells their story. It is is also a film about the power of memory. It's a great story and asks... Who owns our histories? Why does the past matter today?
