The problem of Christians having no standard for art at any level is something that pisses me off frankly. We of all people should love fine art, be curators, and creators if it
#The other day I was at a thrift store that was playing jazz versions of classic hymns#If you’ve never heard a guy sing an up-beat major-key version of It Is Well With My Soul count your blessings#IT WAS SO BAD IN ALL WAYS

Trying my best to be have more hobbies and commit to learning more skills and arts. My new hobbies include “cooking all my meals” and “exercise” and “cleaning my new apartment all by myself every day”
#Joking aside I AM THRILLED with my household work!!!#Good skills and good things to be doing#However my other desired hobbies of crochet and art and memorization have had to take a bit of a backseat#Still figuring out my schedule and such#Also I have very limited storage spaces in my new places#So my art supplies and sewing/crochet stuff are all packed away either in a crate under my bed or in bins on the top shelf of my closet#which I can only reach with a stepstool#So I have simply not reached for them once#But there’s no where to put them that’s more accessible :/#So we shall see what happens

Romantasy and dark romance authors need to stop making big brooding guys whose only personality is "touch her and you die" and consider the appeal of creating a hero whose face is likened variously to a worm wriggling out of old cheese and an adjutant stork and who says things like "don’t let’s bring Socrates into this” and “I had found you beyond all hope or expectation, at a time when I thought no woman could ever mean anything to me beyond a little easy sale and exchange of pleasure and I was so terrified of losing you before I could grasp you that I babbled out all my greed and fear as though, God help me, you had nothing to think of but me and my windy self-importance, as though it mattered, as though the very word of love had not been the most crashing insolence a man could offer you."

still think the craziest thing to happen in all of the star war was anakin saying near-identical things when confessing his love to padmé and vowing his loyalty to palpatine. like that was crazy. that was utterly insane. why isn’t everyone talking about this all the time
#WAIT WHAT#I’m such a fake fan for not noticing this#WHAT!????!#star wars#the prequel trilogy#anakin skywalker my trash beloved

Ok bc I'm insanely curious: I want to see how many Christian denominations on here believe in evolution/the big bang.
If you pick other denomination please tell me what denomination you are in the tags!
#Sorry for skewing the poll results#I clicked on Protestant before seeing there were specific Protestant denominations listed#Presbyterian and I am not convinced of macroevolution

The filter relies on manually curated open-source blocklists, including the ‘nuclear’ list, provided by uBlockOrigin and uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist,” DuckDuckGo said in a post on X. “While it won’t catch 100% of AI-generated results, it will greatly reduce the number of AI-generated images you see.

the other day we were watching a terrible, badly executed, acted, directed (etc.) love story on tv, the overarching problem of which was sentimentality, and my dad was going off about how it it was bad because it probably made so many people think that love looked like that in real life (when it doesn’t) and I said “yeah that’s sort of true but that’s not the real problem with it” and he said “okay what is it” and I said “it’s bad because it makes people believe that love doesn’t actually exist. people do know it doesn’t look like that in real life but they still like it so they call all love stories necessary escapisms and beautiful lies” and he didn’t say it but I could tell he was a tiny bit shaken(TM)
#adjacent to my concerns about AI ultimately destroying belief in things that are beautiful and true#something something they traded the truth for a lie and served and worshipped the creation versus the creator#<- good point

Yoooooooo
So the government just defunded PBS and NPR which is fucked. That being said, the public can cover the damage if we orginize and donate.
Only about $1.60 of tax dollars per US citizen per year are spent on the public broadcasting budget. NPR and PBS offer beong able to make small monthly donations, some being 7$ per month or lower if you want.
If you want to donate 1.60$ per month to your local station, you can multiply how much funding they get from you by 12. If you do their monthly donation of $7 per month, your donation can equal the tax dollars of 54 people spent on public broadcasting per year.
If you want to donate to your local station, look them up by your town here to make sure your local stations get helped specifically:

TIL the reason you don’t find much Lyme’s Disease in California is not because we don’t have Ticks, or Lyme Disease Vectors; but rather: because the Western Fence Lizard (if you live anywhere in California this is your regular Garden Variety Lizard) has adapted a passive immune response that makes their blood lethal to Lyme Disease Bacteria. Any Tick that feeds on one gets its gut cleansed of Lyme Disease as a side effect.
Fucking neat.
