Submission day

Ahhh yes the day has finally come where I give in all my work I didn’t finish along the year . I feel like this has been a very pick learning curve for me because I realise time organisation isn’t my thing . However I persevered and manage to hand in all of my work. Also with resits there is usually a extra 500 words to explain in a rational. I really liked enjoying writing those up because I can really analyse the pros and cons of this module , and to overcome and obtacles. I’m glad to able to resit aswell because not everyone gets the chance to do that so I’m very grateful. Overall I’m happy in the way the year has been . With more downs and ups I’m definitely gonna take this year as a learning curve , left my mistakes in first year

Add vantage work

During my time in Coventry the university offers a advantage module , involving students to a take a similar of completely different subject from there course . I chose to do the indesign course focusing on the skills and techniques you will leant other the 8 week then applying that knowledge to your understanding. The project we were ask to do was to make a magazine cover and a double page sheet on a chosen subject. I chose to do the national basketball association (NBA). I chose to talk about the history of the sport and the what the sport has to offer .It was aim at everyone who was interested in the sport who didn’t really have a glue about it . I. Sight on how the gsme is played and assembled. Overall I really enjoyed the add vantage module because I got to produce some great content and it really helps with the current degree I’m doing which is graphic design. I would definitely recommend the course if there’s a opening.

Person /My pain

Right now there are a lot of influential people who i look up to and who are in my life today. But  the  person that always  pushing  me everyday is my dad. when i was at my lowest , thinking that worst hes always there encouraging me and making realise Im great, unique and most important  for me loved. First year of uni  I’ve went through a stage of doubt and loneliness. I really hated the fact that i knew what i doing wrong and did nothing about it , I didn't understand how can i know what i was doing wrong and do nothing about  it. i remember submission day for the first semester modules , i have left everything to the last minute thinking i can somehow wing it and give in the minimum to get me by, however i left too late i wasn't even able to finish a proper module , knowing this i still tried and submitted my work but i couldn't do it , i walk in the art building feeling ashamed of what i about to hand in, i ran out of there i didn't hand in anything and my dad called me ,” he ask how did it go?” i told him the situation , and then he explain to me precautions and then told me these word that i always reminded myself even today , the words were , “you are who you set yourself to be” .

time

Time is never-ending, the thing that never runs, but there’s never enough hours in the day. At the moment my time management is something I really need to work up on  as I find myself completing work in the AMs , which really messes up my body clock causing lateness and absence.

I find I work at a better rate in the AMs  and   to design when  there’s no distractions around to stop me from concentrating . However this isn’t a effective  use of time as it leaves me too tired to function the following morning. Therefore this is something I really need to focus on , the Times hen i should complete my work I need to be more productive  so I don’t stay up working late putting me out of action  the following day.

Also i find myself procrastinating even when  i have time to work , this is something I've been trying to work since i was started secondary , because time is very precious thing , making every second count to crustal to success.

My biggest challenge

This year I've over came some obstacles but coding was by far my biggest thing i had to do. I wasn't familiar with coding at all and i swear every time someone was trying to explain it  to me it was going from one ear to another . However i persisted and over came the task set. The task was to created a website using the knowledge our lecturer has taught .

What i took from this was with  determination and persistence anything is possible. The circumstance is only hard if you believe it is .

Plans for summer

With uni coming to a end in a couple of days , I've been looking forward to summer and what I plan to do with my time off. during the summer i plan on finding a job ,holidays and spending time with family and friends. Also in the summer i plan to practise my graft on adobe , focusing on illustrator and dream  weaver. Further more i plan on getting some work experience to help me understand and gain more knowledge of the industry.

semester’s  best day

For me the best day of the semester is reviewing other students work and outcomes. I really enjoyed this day because i got to see variety of designs , layouts and logos, also i was able to give my opinions on my peers work as well they got to give me feedback . for me i find feedback  enjoyable  as well as important. I believe with no criticism you  cant elevate meaning you will be in the same place you were before.

Where I want to be

My aims and aspirations for when I’m out in the real world is to be a freelancer and to become a creative director. I hope to go all around the world and meet all kinds of people. I’m 19 years old now and I’ve never been outside of the uk , so I hope that one day I can make my dream into a reality.

Group work

I would describe myself as being as the co-ordinator of the team. I part was giving the team the concept of the layout. I cane up with the walkthrough aswell. I also cane up with the name of the group . I support with the website and app being coming with the features to add. I plan the concept and purpose of the app. I suggested feature that will make our app easier to use. I convince my teammates on the name of the app and convince of team to add a survey feature to get the user perspective. I guided the walkthrough of the app . I communicated with the team by using Aula and by using Facebook messenger. These apps were very useful because sometimes not everyone could meet up.while working I enjoyed speaking and getting my point across . Also I liked interacting with other students it’s really a confidence boast. I struggle with being on time . I considered it. Success when we came up with concept. If I could do it again I would help with presentation work more .

Next year

Next year for me will be a year where I hope to expand in myself, expand on my skills, general knowledge and on my networking skills. Next year I tend to really push myself because 1st I feel like I didn’t do that , and I hope that I’ll will be able really grasp why I’m doing this degree. I plan to be more organised and start writing my thoughts down instead of leaving it in my head, because when I leave it in my head I never seem to carry it threw and it will always just remind a thought and not actually something I can do to change my life for the better. Also I plan to do a placement, I want to understand the design world in depth and I think there’s no other better way doing that , unless seeing first hand .I hope to take in skills I’ve learnt from first year , (specifically group work ) and incorporated it into a work situation. Also next year I hope to improve in my graphics skills in general so tasks using adobe will never be a problem . I know next year is due to be success but I’ve realise success doesn’t come by just thinking it , it comes by being hungry for any task or problems that come in my way.

What to I want to be

My goals for the up coming years is to be graphic design who will eventually push up to be a creative director. One of the ways that’s I’m pursuing this dream is by going to university and getting a degree . Also I hope to try and get as much work experience as I can , to ensure I have the have success rate . I plan as I get older to go abroad and design for all different types of people , then I plan to come back to England and start my own graphics agency. The skills that I have are not just skills in photoshop, I also have developed keys skills I believe will take u higher as a graphic designer. I’ve learned that u need to stand up for what you think is right even if your potential client doesn’t . This is because if you don’t believe in your work , how will anyone else will? I’ve realise you can’t let people walk all over you in this business. Also I’ve learnt networking is so important if you plan to expland , because it might be that person on the street giving you that big break . I’ll know when I achieve my dream when I finally open my agency. Because I really want to set my mark in this world , and I believe opening an agency will different do that for me.

Deadlines

Deadlines for me personally have never been in my favour. Growing up I would always be that person who would hand in work late or wouldn’t hand in at all , to be honest I don’t know why I kept repeating , not learning from my mistakes . Even now I still struggle , but I’ve realise that these deadlines just don’t wait for you , so you just have to keep up.However I believe deadline help keep time in place and proportion .

App development

first semester

During first semester I event that stood out to be really stuck to me because it was something completely out of my comfort zone was creating my own typography. This for me really push me and test my limits because I have never played around with typography before, so this really stuck to me because as a graphic designer It improve my graphic skills. I remember the first day of the module where we as a class was asking to draw our classmates, however the catch was we had to draw our peers with either our opposite had, in curves or just in straight lines. The aim of the task was to push ours minds thinking and what we have produce, we needed to take key elements to the drawings and create them to a letter template.

As the modules we continue to push or limits further by studying for fonts and graphic designers that created fonts. One font that got my intrigued was the Gill Sans font. I liked this font mainly because of its flexibly, meaning that its quite versatile, adapting to its surroundings, also I liked the simplicity of font, which had a modern feel to it. As the module progress we were asking to refine our typeface, making it he best we can do.

In relation my current module to the typography module, my current module had use key things from the typography module where without them, Paula with be very hard to do. For example, the first we did in Paula’s module was to create a brand logo and come up with various designs, then we were asking in our teams to come up with our top four designs, afterwards we put our designs out for everyone in class to see and judge on which one they like the best. When everyone picked they favourite, even after the specific logo was pick realise the kerning and tracking was not correct. This was a very important key factor in the typography modules, because one of the first thing we learnt was tracking and kerning and how if they are not done correcting can be visibly and mentally not user friendly for a first-time viewer. Another key element that I learnt in the typography module that I applied to my current module was refining of outcomes. This is mainly because without refining your work it can’t progress and there will be mistakes and errors which could ruin the whole type or logo.

This is my uncles graphics site , I gave it a make over trying to simplify it . I really like the modern feel it has when u enter the page, furthermore it’s iPhone friendly so I quick and smooth when you open his site on the phone . 👌🏽
