troy is by no means a cat person — much preferring dogs to humans at the best of times — but being around the felines makes him feel a little closer to home. the amount of times his father would refuse his mother a cat was unbelievable, especially when they already had two dogs; but she would always bring back a fluff ball that needed caring for despite him. in the end, all troy’s father could do was sigh, and accept they would have two dogs and three cats ( two of which hardly came home after a while ). now, he sits in frisky kitty cafe thinking of old times, sipping on warm coffee with his work laptop open.
it takes some effort for troy not to laugh, or at least snicker as he makes eye contact at the wrong time. “ i mean, ” he pauses, setting down his coffee. “ a good back scratch would be nice. sounds a lot better than letting the ground take you hostage. ” of course, he cannot help but make light of the situation. even if he has a deadpan expression and only his blue eyes glimmer with humour. troy cracks ever so slightly with the faintest of grins, and he shifts in his seat to face her. “ yeah, pretty. always found ginger cats to be the best out of the bunch. a bit wild, but always beautiful in nature. ”

Isa smiled, beginning to walk around the store with her friend. “Who wouldn’t want to share Tony.” She turned the box towards her. “Don’t listen to her Tony. She’s just embarrassed.” She grinned; laughing in public reminded her why she had done what she had done. Her life was in a happier place now. “Oh sugar puff. Look at him. Plus he’s got that honey.” She shook the box, tossing it into the cart.
Elise smiled, nudging her. "Nah, I was just so focused on trying to get that box of cereal," she said with a laugh. "I know you very well and I love you for it. Who said I want to share your Tony? He is all yours, babe. All yours." She gave a fake gasp, laughing. "The scandal. Now who is better?"

Dex pressed his lips together, holding back a laugh. Though his amusement was very clear on his face. “You almost just scarred a child for life,” he joked, smiling back at her. He took the seat beside her, nodding. “I mean, never say never. Build a shed for it. I’m joking. Don’t squish a horse into a shed. But they are majestic. They’re beautiful, they definitely show love and they know when you’re helping. Some can be stubborn though,” he laughed. “But yes, I did go to school and learn how to treat other animals. I will yes. Hendrix, people call me Dex. Miss?”

“And those people are the reason these shoes stink.” She shook her head, crumpling her face. “Good. Because then you won’t cry when i beat you.” She started to head towards the arcade.
"I think some people take it pretty seriously." Wolf counters, shrugging. He definitely wasn't one of those people though. "Oh, you're on. Sorry to day, but I'm extremely competitive."

Isa had been given a chance at this job, with really very few qualifications to back her up. Sure, her family were pretty well known and knew somewhere down the line that had probably gone in her favour. But nonetheless, she was desperate to prove herself. She was drowning in paperwork, dumping another box of files on the desk before looking up to see Owen standing there. Owen had been the light in this weird job she’d been thrown into. His coffee’s and his smile seemed to be what were getting her through the day. She sighed, holding her chest with a grateful smile. “You’re a life saver. Again. Literally both with your job and with the coffee. But with me mostly the coffee.” Absentmindedly she leant on the paperwork, not noticing the files were already beginning to mix. “And how has your morning been?”
Isa | @herdarkredsoul
Stopping by his dad's practice was something Owen had been doing for as long as he could remember. He could recall his rambunctious days where he would run around the hallways, grinning and laughing. And then as he got older and interested in nursing, following the nurses around as much as he could. Now, as he got older, he envisioned himself working here- wanting nothing more than to follow in Kai's footsteps. Owen looked up to him so much and working at a practice that his dad ran? He knew it was where he wanted his career to take him. However, it was also how he had came to know Isa and Owen made his way in, two coffees in hand. Giving her a warm grin as he made his way over, setting one down in front of her before he reached for his phone. I come bearing caffeine. He laughed, turning his phone around so she could read it. Oat latte and americano, take your pick of whichever.

Addison watched on from the background, trying her best not to get pulled in by the cute faces of all the adorable kittens. Tempting as it was to take one home, Addison was a person who like to be able to take off at any given moment, and while cats tended to be rather independent, that just didn’t seem very fair. “What the holy hell was that ? ” She questioned, stepping in front of her aunt with an amused smile. “Were you just flirting with that guy ? Is—is that how you flirt, because if it is we’re going to need to change that. No offence.” A laugh echoed, an innocent shrug of her shoulders. Finally she motioned towards the kitten. “He is super cute. And he has hair like me. I think you should get him.”

Hendrix found himself glancing over her for a moment. She was an attractive woman and her sense of humour only amused him more. Though anyone he met at a cat cafe was probably his kind of person. “Now that would be telling,” he replied with a grin. “I am more of an Iams guy,” he joked before pausing. “Yeah, that was even weird for me,” he laughed. “I do, I look after animals, treat them. Well at the moment I’m working primarily with horses. But yes.” He raised a brow laughing again. “That was dark. I would help you find a healthy one, yes.”

James tried to get out as much as he could on his days off. And today’s stop was to the cat café. Hell, he didn’t even know if it had been around when he was in town all the time but figured he might as well stop in anyways. After ordering a drink, he made his way into where the cats were, for half a second wondering if he could convince his roommates to adopt one. Before his gaze shifted over to someone that was talking, whether it was to him or the cats well, James wasn’t exactly sure. But finally a laugh fell from him at her comment and he gave a shake of his head. “Ah- no bad itch here. Looks like you’re off the hook from it.” He grinned, hands wrapping around his coffee. “But yeah- it really is. You thinking about adopting one?”

Isa smiled at the little girl. She was sweet and made Isa think about what her life could’ve been like if she had gone through with her wedding. She shook the thought from her mind. She was happy here in Denver. She couldn’t think about what if’s. She chuckled as the little girl ran towards the counter. “Cute kid.” She nodded, leaning against the counter. She fake gasped again. “A princess? Well if i’m a princess where is my castle huh?”
Mila had to let out a laugh as she saw Isa with her daughter. Some people wouldn't have been so kind, but she was and Mila was grateful for it. Teddy erupted into iggles and gasped. You were? I guessed right?! Mama, I guessed right! Mila smiled and nodded. "I know, baby, you're a mind reader extraordinaire. Let's go, you want to be my helper?" Teddy was behind the counter in three seconds as she grabbed the plate for the customer and gave it to her. One for me, one for the pretty princess! Mila smiled, nodding. "Wow, princess. That's a high, high compliment from her."

“Hey i’ve got no vendetta against the nerds, only jealousy. I wish i could love something that passionately.” And she truly meant that, she had always wished she could get as invested in things as people did with tv shows and books. “Ouch. I don’t know if i could consider giving up the new shoes for a book. But it must really release that serotonin, huh?” She smiled gently. “Ah... you’re gonna keep trying to persuade me of this. Ok fine. I give you once chance. One book. Make me a reader with just one book recommendation.”
"So I'm forgiven for being a bit of a nerd with all the books?" she asked teasingly. She had been called a nerd a majority of her life, so it didn't bother her any more. "Very real. Very expensive hobby to have. Special editions can cut close to the price of new shoes. But I don't think I'm at the level of hidden book deals in dark alleys," Kendra joked, carefully cradling the books in her arms as she stood back up. "The aesthetic is great, but it's even better when you add the actual reading part."

Isa huffed, putting her hands on her hips and holding her head low. “Honestly? It’s my worst attempt yet. I”m a little bit ashamed.” She smiled, trying to jump out on Elise had become something of a running joke. “You really should know me by now. Oh don’t you get jealous of me and tony there’s plenty of him to go around. Plus... i’ve kinda been cheating on him with the sugar puff guy.” She lifted a box of sugar puffs holding them out to her friend.
Elise pressed her lips together, holding back a laugh when she realised just who the pile of boxes had landed on. She'd had no idea that her friend had been there in the store but that now felt like karma. "You tried to scare me, didn't you?" This time she did let out a laugh. "That actually took me a moment to process. I think that was just you. And you should keep that one between you and the tiger."

Dex smiled gently, watching her reaction as she used the poor cat to hide her face. It was sweet. “Oh, I am not disagreeing with you there. I will think of you any time someone says tummy scratches or pretty kitty or anything cat related really,” he said with a grin. He glanced around a moment before looking back at her. “Maybe I am, yeah. I like to be wined and dined and I fully admit that,” he replied, watching her blushing cheeks again. “Would you leave your glass slipper so I could search for you? Or a cat collar?” he let out another laugh. “I mean, I am literally a vet so it really would be weird if I didn’t like animals.”

“You know, i doubted you at first but now i see that we are the same.” She joked, smiling as she took the books back. “Oooh so you don’t just seem like you have a problem, this is a real problem?” She laughed. “Did i just become your enabler? Am i going to be dealing you books in a dark alleyway?” She smiled, folding her arms. “I’m all for the aesthetic of reading, you know? Greens and red’s and comfy arm chairs. I just have never got into the actual reading part of it.”
"Retail therapy is a legitimate therapy practice in my book. I just sometimes go for books instead of shoes," Kendra stated with a shrug, taking the book that the other handed her. "I do have a Kindle actually," she replied with a laugh, continuing to stack books. "But I'm a collector and I love having the physical books. They're just so pretty on my shelves." She put a lot of effort into her shelves, sometimes taking days just to reorganize things. And she was a sucker for a pretty special edition. "One does not choose the rainbow bookshelf life, it chooses you."

“I don’t think bowling is anyone’s sport. The shirts. The shoes.” She shuddered. “Plus, that cosmic lighting isn’t anybody's colour.” She looked around laser lanes, glancing towards the arcade. “I could be persuaded. I do warn you, though... I don’t like to brag but back in my day I was something of a foosball champ.”
open to: anyone! (@chqstarter) location: laser lanes (emo nite)
"i have to admit that bowling isn't my sport, in case that wasn't obvious." wolfgang admits with a chuckle, shaking his head at his score. "maybe i'll have better luck with foosball. want to take a break and check out the arcade?"

Isa was following her room mate around the store. Although her friend had no idea she was there, she was planning to jump out just at the right time and give some sort of witty one liner that would make her look like some sort of heroine from a rom com. But before she could get a word in, a storm of cereal boxes came crashing down at her. She held her head pouting. “My pride is a little wounded... but believe it or not it’s not the first time tony the tiger has hit me round the head with his frosted flakes.” She paused. “Or that might’ve been a dream.”
Location: Grocery Shopping Open to all
Elise paused, lips pressed together as she looked up at the last box of cinnamon cereal on the high shelf. If she jumped just slightly she was sure that she could reach it. She reached her hand up, managing to tap the box. It fell... knocking down several boxes of chocolate cereal with it and hitting the person beside her. “I am so sorry. I hope you like cereal,” she tried to joke. “Are you okay?”

Henrix looked over at the girl with an amused smile. “Thank you. I am pretty. I have never had anyone speak to me like that before” he said, giving her a teasing look. He could see her red cheeks but the boy continued to smile at her. “I mean, I’m aching. So maybe a little back massage first. Treat me nice. Then we can get to the scratch.” He burst out laughing. “Sorry, kidding. That is too forward even for me.” He nodded. “It amused me, I won’t lie. And you are far too pretty to let the ground take you.” He laughed again. “Oh I love animals. So yes.”

“Now aren’t you a pretty little kitty.” Isa smiled, lifting the cat onto her lap and rubbing it’s head She’d always wanted a cat but had never quite settled enough to adopt one. Maybe now was the time. Her first real commitment here in Denver. A pet. “Do you want a good scratch?” She scratched the cat’s head before realising that someone had been looking over at her as she had been asking the question. “Oh! Gosh! Sorry, no... i meant this little fella.” She lifted the cat, her cheeks turned red with embarrassment. “I mean unless you’ve got a really bad itch that’s got to be scratched in which case....” She paused, closing her eyes. “I’m going to stop talking and just pray that this ground opens up and swallows me whole. Sorry.” She coughed. “I mean this is a really pretty cat. Isn’t it?” She held up the ginger tabby.
