Lucy made the place cards for dinner. I talked to a relative of Taylor and his grandma about the sea turtles. How the female spends her entire life in the sea. Except for 30-60 minutes every few years when she'll drag herself onto land at night. Make a hole with her flipper. Fill the hole with her eggs. Then return to the sea.
They said if you are on the beach when the magnificent beast arrives you will be blessed with the memory of her efforts forever.

Sometimes when it rains and you really-really want to be camping. You stick it out. Hoping things will eventually clear up.
The rain was beautiful. We drank our coffee and ate cold cereal in the shelter.

It had been pretty terrible camping weather. The rain really wasn't stopping. We needed time to make a plan. We stopped into the beautiful north shore Chateau. After poking around the general store, we got some hot coco and played Dominoes.

When a big snowfall is about to hit, I get very excited. I can't sleep. I pace back and forth looking out the back windows. Then looking out the front windows.

It has been a very mild winter. This has been good for my bike commute. But not so good for Polar bears, other critters and flooded out humans.
I am not sure when humans will figure it out. We can solve this thing.

The Iowa State Fair has the most amazing things to see. Harry Potter made of butter. Big steer with their own fans. Livestock exhibit areas bigger than galleries in the Louvre.
But what I remember most is the Bauder peppermint bar. We ate them standing up. No one was allowed to share. All chatter turned to silence as we ate two inch tall ice cream sandwiches topped with hot fudge, held together with Oreo crusts. Unbelievable. Can't stop thinking about them.

I'll never forget looking out my bedroom window and seeing individual leaves on trees. The leaves were fluttering in the wind like little birds.
I was in 5th grade. I was pissed off. Why had nobody told me about such impossibilities?

Boston has some great neon signs. In July of 2010 the people of Boston cheered as the large Kenmore Square CITGO sign was illuminated with more environmentally friendly LED lights.

This is not the lake I knew from Summer. This lake is trapped. I want to walk out onto it and have it hold my weight.

I am drawn to the lakefront in a blizzard. The loneliness of the howling wind. The snow contradicts itself. Appearing like a polar fleece blanket. It would be the death of you.

The contemporary art in the lobby, was like balloons in the sky. Art historians, art professors and graduate students mingled uncomfortably. All trying to impress and entertain.
