“I know what modesty stands for,” Loki countered, index finger pointing at the ceiling as a sign of protest; “And it would know better to come anywhere near me.” His no-touching incentive goes hand in hand with his high maintenance policy still. Then, he finds himself laughing dryly in regards to Thor’s comment. “Odin is old, Thor. He himself has said that you are his successor—why is this difficult to process?”
Despite having his own share of ruling albeit under a façade, he had to preserve the outward appearance that was the Allfather. It became tasking afterwards. “Because there is something afoot, and I must pick a side. What could be better than the one with the Thunderer?” He reasoned, giving Thor a feral smile.
“Of course, you will assume that I will come after you. As usual. Stab you on the front, at the back, every angle. Or I could be very loyal, and I will protect you, too, brother.” He stated as he idly inspected his fingernails.
Thor’s eyebrows shoot up when Loki mentions that he knows what modesty is. Who’d have thought. He nods along with the fact that Odin is old, drumming his fingers on the surface of the table. “And yet you seemed so ready to take that role from me, brother. Suddenly you’ve changed your mind?” He counters, then sighs, “I do not feel ready yet to rule. Therefor I want to find father, the universe is in too much chaos for me to lay down my duties as Avenger and take up the throne. And that’s where you come to help.”
Granted, not one of his brightest ideas, Thor will admit. “Staying here will not help us in finding father. I suggest we move to our next designation seeing as Father is not here, how about we travel to another realm?” He asks, willing to take Loki’s opinion in consideration and even staying if Loki saw something Thor hadn’t.

“And you like to keep those, yes?” Loki responded, taunting Thor just a little. He watched his brother closely, his own eyes scanning the room before he proceeds to finish the rest of the fruit in his hand.
“It’s not too much, is it?” He asked, concerning the state of order and his current living conditions. “I almost considered a much bigger place, but I remembered modesty—a hiccup, hn.” He wiped his hand clean with a paper towel, neatly folding it and placing it on the table.
“What do you think Odin will do once we find him?” He wondered. His charade, no, façade regarding the Allfather was nothing more. “He’ll make you king, finally?”
“Unlike a certain someone, I do.” He is quick to lash out, hesitates, and looks away as he realizes what he’s said. Thor will not deny that he is still... hurting with the things Loki has done throughout the years since he had been banished by Odin.
Now is not the time to bring up such unpleasantness, nor does he expect anything good to come out of that. “You wouldn’t even know what modesty looked like even if it bit you in your arse, brother.” Thor huffs, a smile edging on his lips. “I do not wish to be king, Loki, I have told you before. We will find father and bring him back to Asgard so that he may rule once again.”
For Thor, it is simple. Find Odin and bring him home. He can’t see any other possible outcome once he and Loki find him. “I do find it odd you agreed so willingly when I asked your help, have you finally realized Midgard and Asgard are too much to rule alone? Or---- do you still have plans to rule them?”

“And I will continue to do so. It shows character doesn’t it?” Loki continued, having another bite of the apple and chewing slowly. While it may seem that Thor was sincere, it doesn’t mean that Loki will stop from picking apart every action, every word.
“You usually have a reason nowadays,” he reasoned, “and mostly it has to do with saving this world or people you’ve grown to… value.” The last word didn’t mask the distaste in his tone, and he made sure his brother were aware of it.
“Fret not, you have my undivided attention.” He said, offering the fruit in his hand. “Apple?”
When they had been younger, not a care in the world to give, Thor might have bend over the table to take a bite out of the apple in Loki’s hand. Different time brought different measures with them, and Thor shakes his head once.
Just because he is working together with his brother does not mean his trust is restored. It will take more than that. “I made a promise.” He says, glancing around the place. For someone who has such disdain for midgard and everything that comes with it, Loki sure lives in the finest luxury it has to offer.
“Besides, it is more than that. Asgard needs it’s king, the nine realms need a king to protect and rule them.”

“Why do you finish it all at once?” Loki asked, tilting his head. But that has always been Thor; a sign that he’s in high spirits and enjoying a fine drink.
“Was it one of your Midgardian friends who told you of this? Was there an invitation floating around?” He wondered as his eyes followed Thor’s hand, reaching for the bottle and refilling his drink.
Instead of having his own goblet, he reached for an apple from the fruit bowl and took a bite.
“Why are you here, brother?” He asked. after swallowing.
"You ask many questions, brother." Thor is focused on the bottle, looking over the label as he pulls the chair opposite of Loki away from the table to take a seat in it.
"Do I need a reason to see my brother?" He counters Loki's questions with his own. "Do I need permission? Or are you expecting other company that you can't be seen with?" Careful, he puts the bottle down and turns to face Loki completely.

“Now if you would hold that up for me, Thor.” He instructed, gesturing at the goblet his brother has in his hand. There’s a bottle sitting on the table, but Loki made no try to reach for it. Instead, he brought his hand up. His fingers tapped on the surface of the goblet; liquid filling and rising from it until some spilt on the floor.
“You’re welcome. Why are you in good spirits?”
Once upon a time Thor might have been in awe at Loki’s little tricks but through the years and hardships Loki brought along with him that awe has quickly withered and dried up. Especially because he knows Loki is capable of tremendous things.
With a small nod in thanks, Thor lifts the cup to his lips and drinks it in one fell swoop. Thor’s other hand moves up just as he pulls the goblet away to wipe away at excessive wine that lingers on his lips before he speaks.
“I was promised good ale and upon tasting it I find my expectations have been met.”
For a moment, Thor is almost sad the cup is empty but that is reminisced when he notices the bottle and is quick to reach for it.

“Oh, I will share. But you’ll have to fetch your own goblet.” And since he’s feeling generous, “Cupboard behind you, you should find sizes to your liking, brother.” He added.
There is a moment of awkwardness where Thor expected a goblet to float by or maybe to drop on his head but nothing happens. Eventually, he turns to face the closed cupboard and opens it, appreciating the different sizes.
Not to be modest, Thor reaches for the second largest and closes the cupboard once more before he turns and face Loki with a big smile.

“----I suppose you don’t have an extra goblet to share some of that ale of yours.”

I’d like to think I’m a normal sort of guy, but go to my mum and she’ll probably say, ‘You know, Chris was always the daughter out of my three boys.’
