She’d never really gotten theater. The idea of standing up on a stage pretending to be someone else, willingly taking on someone else’s shape, their memories, their personality–that terrified her. She had enough of that in her own head. She didn’t need to add anything else, thank you very much. But it made Kurt happy, so she had to give it some credit. Rogue was tired of trying on other people, but maybe some of them needed it.

“So,” she said. “You never did say. Why Tartuffe? Hold on–what is Tartuffe?”

kurt had always had a flair for the dramatics. raised from infancy in a circus, he had always been a showman. while the drama class at xavier’s had been created in order to give students a more mundane school experience, it had always been his pride and joy ( perhaps enjoying it more than his students ). ❝ tartuffe ? its one of the most famous comedies ever written , liebe schwester (dear sister) . figured the students could use something fun for our first production since the blip . ❞ he playfully elbowed her arm, the sleeve of his sweater protecting both of them from any power absorption, ❝ you’ll just to have search for the plot if you really want to spoil it . ❞

“Well, if it isn’t my favorite blue fuzzy dude. Hey gorgeous, hope you didn’t miss me too much,” Doug laughed trying to somehow shake off the inevitable awkwardness of his third time being back. “How have you been, besides the usual craziness of the institute being destroyed every other tuesday.”

❝ mr. ramsey ! welcome back , mein freund . ❞ a smile broke across his face as he put the papers he had been flipping through back onto his desk. ❛ while i’ve been dead for seven years . ❜ the thought echoed through his head, perhaps him and doug had more in common than ever recently. ❝ no one’s destoryed the school yet thankfully , i’ve been fine . . . despite the bamfs constant troublemaking . ❞

❝ thank you. if you think they’ll continue to be harmless and the students keeping them is fine, that’s up to you. you know better when it comes to the bamfs. but if they don’t then i’m going to have to do something myself about them. ❞ a pause when kurt mentions his father. emma straddles a fine line of being supportive and not so supportive when it comes to fathers due to her own issues. ❝ i … understand. about the father bit. ❞ it’s all she manages to say. ❝ i get that. my main concern is for the students which is why i’m having this chat but i also care about you kurt. so how are you ? really. ❞

❛ i also care about you ❜ a rare sentiment to hear from someone like emma. he knew that emma could have easily jumped into his mind to get the answer she wanted: in all the years he had lived around telepaths, that still was the one thing he would never fully get used to. ❝ it’s been a strange adjustment period . . . i’ve seen a handful of friends come back from the dead , never thought it would be me . ❞ he nods his head slightly as he speaks. ❝ i’m happy to be back however , glad to see that the school did not crumble during my extended absense . ❞ whatever uncertanity had been troubling him just moments before disappeared as a smile overtook his face.

           “  YOU  CAN  BLAME  CHARLES  FOR  THAT  .  ”  psionic  blade  retracts  as  she  makes  her  way  over  to  her  belongings  .  “  the  one  time  i  give  in  and  visit  the  bloody  mansion  ,  ”  betsy  rolls  her  eyes  .  she  still  doesn’t  think  she’s  fit  to  be  around  the  students  .

❝ blame the professor for an old friend visiting ? that doesn’t sound like a fault to me . ❞ he replied, grin creeping onto his face . he followed behind her, silent other than the soft swoosh of his tail as he moved. ❝ you don’t have to wait for an invitation to visit , you’re welcome anytime . . . in more areas of the mansion than just the danger room . ❞

❝ it’s the fact that they’re so small is what’s worrying me. they can cause more damage than you think. or would like to think. ❞ she wouldn’t have much of a problem with them if they weren’t capable of chaos. ❝ and i think some of the students are trying to adopt them as pets. that’s not going to be a good idea. ❞

a frown grew across his face, ❝ i can see where your concern rest now . i’ll have a chat with the students . . . so far they’ve been harmless , but anything made by mein vater is cause for some concern , ❞ leaning against his desk, the frown quickly disappeared from his face, ❝ i truly didn’t expect so many of them to come back with me , but they are the reason i stand before you now so it’s the least i can do for the bamfs . ❞

❝ five sounds like more than enough , celebrating or not . ❞ he responded quickly, responsible adult instinct kicking in. kurt despised bars in the city-- always far too crowded for his comfort. but alas, his beloved ❛ harry’s hideway ❜ was closed for renovations this week and kurt was still determined to bring back his weekly nights out. he had been casually sitting at the bar by himself ( most people actively avoiding him here ) when she approached. kurt hadn’t meant to be staring with his mouth open, he had only been waiting for a moment to interject. quickly butting in, worried she talk forever,  he replied ❝ hallo regina , i’m kurt . ❞

❝ you NEED to get a handle on the bamfs. i don’t mind having them … really. but just keep an eye out on them before one of the students gets freaked out and tries to harm them. ❞

❝ ich bitte sie , emma . ❞ kurt sighed, waving his hand dismissively at the comment, ❝ they’ve got minds of their own , believe me when i say i’ve tried . they are so small , what harm can they really cause . . . ignoring the incident with the chandelier . ❞

🥭  :    how important to my muse is their hometown,  or where they’re from?  are they proud of it,  or considered a hometown hero? did they move away,  or do they wish to?

kurt pays no mind to his true hometown : the village that had cast him away hours after his birth due to the way he looked. that feeling of abandonment was dealt with long ago. kurt considers the circus route his true childhood home. the colorful tents, traveling caravans filled with performers, the stillness of the air high up on the trapeeze. he’s proud of his career as a circus performer; skills he learned as an acrobat translated well into his combat now with the x-men. while in a different life he could have been pseudo royalty, with a title and a castle in the bavarian alps, he’s content with this life.

however, the homely feeling he felt amongst his fellow circus performers was ripped away from his as a teen. fleeing from men armed with weapons, the last look he got of the place he once called home was everything engulfed in flames, the gasoline on his hands. he has yet to return to germany since the professor took him in at sixteen, too many memories of his past life still settled into the land there.
