"Inherent to Hayuk’s imagery and palette—and to her practice overall—is a complex interplay between darkness and light. Anger and anxiety, depression and dissatisfaction: the negative emotions that the global state of perpetual war and economic uncertainty can provoke are very much present in her work. At the same time, in her use of buoyant hues and feel-good patterns and in the demand for optimism expressed in the Positive Future Prophecy Posse manifesto, she insists on hope." —Corrina Peipon, assistant curator

art by Seth Money

For the last painting I didn’t lay down any paint until I had drawn the face in various sizes at least 10 times. This time I went straight to paint and this is what came of it. Not my favorite, but still kind of fun. I call this “Fictional Conspiracy based on Jaoquin” and its basically just a bunch of nonsense, hope you like it!

Developing natural-looking, 3D-printed skin
Researchers at the University of Liverpool are developing synthetic skin that can be produced on a 3D printer and matched to a person based on their age, gender and ethnic group. 3D printing is a new science, thought to have significant potential for developments in medicine. Printers are relatively cheap and can be programmed with almost any variation of designs – all without the need for a donor or a factory producing artificial parts. Efforts at producing skin, however, have so far failed to produce a product that looks realistic enough to be indistinguishable from the real thing. (via Developing natural-looking, 3D-printed skin)
