Is it the same over there? If you have money and power… can you live happily and well no matter what awful thing you do? It’s been 20 years, after all. Something must have changed, right?

Kim Hyesoo Being Awesome in 1999
(Translated Transcript by me)
Kim Hyesoo: When Mr. Kim Minjong (actor) came on the talk show a while back, he made a statement about men being the sky and women being the ground, which made me mad. (Note: it’s implying that men have authority/priority over women)
(Flashback)
Interviewer: Are men allowed to cheat? What do you think?
KMJ: Well I won’t cheat, but if that were to happen then that’s what happens. (laughs)
KMJ: (addressing the audience) Men are the sky!
Interviewer: Mr. Kim Minjong, you’re (ruining) the image you’ve built up….
KMJ: Ahh but even if my image is ruined, I’ll still stand by this. Because that’s my view on women.
(Crowd reacts, and then bursts into laughter)
 KMJ: Wh-what was that?
Interviewer: Ah did you hear?
KMJ: What?
Interviewer: They said “Oh dear, he really won’t be able to get married.”
KMJ: Those who get mad at that are rather simplistic people.
Kim Hyesoo: Oh I-
KMJ: -My thoughts haven’t changed. What’s important is that the sky and the ground coexist.
(Crowd reacts)
KMJ: There needs to be a ground for the sky to exist, and there needs a sky for the ground to exist.
Kim Hyesoo: But-
KMJ: -A sky without a ground is just a space, right?
Kim Hyesoo: Ohh.
KMJ: But some take this in a simplistic way and go “What?? You’re saying women are the ground?” and get upset. I’m just making a distinction.
Kim Hyesoo: Then how about we switch it around. Women are the sky, men are ground. That’s also possible.
KMJ: Yes of course. I’m just basing it on what our elders have said in the past…
Kim Hyesoo: For me, this is how I always think: Men are the sky. Okay sure, that’s correct, I agree. But women are the universe.

The After Party (KHS & JJH)
Tumblr media
"Everyone's looking for you." Someone with a sexy baritone voice said which made her twirl in surprise. It was Ju Ji Hoon. He was still in his simple yet gorgeous tuxedo with the brooch pin that she had chosen for him to use that night.
Hye Soo smirked at him, a bottle of beer on her left hand. It was that familiar tipsy grin that Geum Ja often use to Hee Jae when they would get drunk in Hyena. She sipped a beer before turning her back on him again.
Ji Hoon on the other hand, smiled while admiring her voluptuous figure from the back, taking note of the small details just like the back slit of the dress, how it exposed a little of her skin and the Bulgari Diamond Serpenti flawlessly resting on her back down to her hips. He was truly amazed at how the black Ralph Lauren dress fitted her body perfectly, flaunting those curves that she maintained through the years.
But his brows creased when he realized she wasn't wearing the white coat she had earlier. She must have left it on the venue downstairs, he unbuttoned his tuxedo jacket and pulled it off from his torso as he slowly walked towards Hye Soo, the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Upon reaching her he carefully placed the tuxedo jacket on her shoulder to keep her warm before leaning on the railing that reaches up to their chest. His gesture made her look up at him, but he was ignoring her stare pretending to look at the 360-degree view of Seoul. They were on the rooftop of the hotel where the Baeksang Arts Award 2020 after party was held.
"Hoon-ssi it's fine, you don't---"
"You're wearing a dress." He cut her off "Exposing your shoulder and your back..." He paused staring back at her before he continue what he was saying "Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against you wearing that sexy dress but I don't want you to get cold, alright Sunbaenim?" He rolled his eyes the way Hee Jae did, that made Hye Soo chuckle, amused by how Ji Hoon still has a bit of his character with him.
"Hee Jae is that you?" She asked him still giggling a bit "Sorry, but Geum Ja's not here tonight."
"Who says I want Geum Ja? I want Hye Soo." He said not looking away from her.
There was no response from her, now the only thing they could hear was the sound of the gusting wind. Their gazes locked, she could feel the blood rushing to her face turning her cheeks into crimson red. He never fail to make her feel this way as if it was the first time someone said those words to her.
"But you can't." She said bitterly, looking away from him, setting aside the bottle of beer on the wide railing cap.
Ji Hoon looked down, "You don't trust me, do you?"
"Trust isn't the issue in here. It's the age, the opinion of everyone around us and the career... Your career."
"I'm willing to give it all up---"
"Well I don't, I wouldn't let you give up everything you worked for just to be with me." She cut him off staring back at him. "You're young, you're smart and you're talented, there's so much ahead of you. Don't waste it with someone like me and I am sure you'll find someone much better, someone who can give you a family, a son or maybe a daughter." She explained but it seems like he wasn't listening to any of it.
"Then I'll take whatever you can give. I love you, and I know you feel the same... Please?" He grabbed both her hands and kissed her knuckles. His eyes started getting wet.
"Ji Hoon, stop." She said pulling her hands away from him.
"This is so unfair, I just want to be with you." She saw how tears pooled down his cheeks as he said those words. She felt her heart broke into pieces, watching him cry because of her.
Tumblr media
She couldn't help herself she extended her hand to his face, cupping his cheek wiping down his tears using her thumb. Then she pulled him closer for the last time and caught his lips with hers, kissing him slowly and softly making it linger, trying to ease his pain.
Hye Soo pulled out of the kiss before saying "Let's not see each other again."
Hye Soo walked away from Ji Hoon and did not dare to look back anymore, because she knew she would just do the foolish thing and gave into her emotion again. It's better to end it right now than to fuck everything up later on.

During the shooting of “Mantra”, Jihoon was so tired that he fell asleep. Instead of waking him up, a staff member took a picture of him. When he woke up and saw the very person in the picture, he smiled like a child and asked “Who is he?” Credit: Amy and Melody

Just a Fan
Note: This seems to be a day for anonymous fanfics. Hooray. Here’s another story from a fellow #Hyena fan. Thank you!  😆
——
I decided not to set anyone as the female lead. Feel free to set your own female lead in this story :)
Tumblr media
Christimas 2019.
The company that I am working for the last 5 years is doing a year end party and everyone was so excited to meet the “special guest” for this evening. I’m not even excited about it. These kind of events really bore me but I have to be here as part of the operations team.
I was walking towards the hall where the party is happening when I heard a familiar song.
“See the stone set in your eyes See the thorn twist in your side I wait for you”
~
I just heard a few lines and I already knew that it was you. I didn’t want to believe it at first. How can they even get you to perform for us? You’re a big star now. You’re expensive, of course. And you don’t have time. You don’t even have time to get a proper sleep or meal. How could you be here?
These thoughts are running through my head while walking. As I come closer to the hall, the music gets louder. The crowd is so loud too but I can clearly hear you sing. Because you sing from the heart. Then I entered the concert hall and there was you.
Tumblr media
You look exactly the same. Except you gained some weight. But it suited you. Really. You are still handsome, as ever. Your smile still looks the same. Everything about you still looks the same.
Am I dreaming? I said to myself. After 7 long years. You’re finally here again. In front of me. In a big crowd. And just like how we are from before, I can’t even tell the world that I am here. I guess it will always be like this. I will always be just a fan.
As I get to immersed with your song, memories came back flashing to my head. Then I came to a thought. What if we never broke up? What if we are still together? What if we never gave up?
Just a fan (Part2)
( As I get to immersed with your song, memories came back flashing to my head. Then I came to a thought. What if we never broke up? What if we are still together? What if we never gave up?)
It was one of the darkest moments of my life. My grandmother who raised me died from cancer and then months after, my father died due to heart attack. I was so down and I felt like no one could ever understand the pain that I was going through. I started pushing people away and I would normally go on traveling alone. Traveling gives me peace of mind. Especially if I am in a place where no one knows me. A place where I don’t have to pretend and just be myself.
Summer of 2012, I went to Thailand. I thought it was just another normal vacation for me. Little did I know that I was about to meet the person who would change my life completely.
I was enjoying the sunset by the beach when I saw a familiar face. I know that I have seen him somewhere but I really couldn’t remember where I’ve seen him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I kept staring at him while trying so hard to remember where I saw him. The next thing I know, he’s already sitting next to me.
Tumblr media
“Do you have anything to say to me?”
I was out of words. I just stared at him and he probably thought that I was just some weird random girl so he left. Thank God. That was so embarrassing. I have never been so embarrassed like this before.
Next day
I went out to buy look for some ref magnets. I love ref magnets. Aside from photos, it gives me a recollection of the places that I’ve been too.
Tumblr media
While searching some ref magnets, I came across the same man from yesterday. People are lining up to take a picture  with him. Who is he seriously and where did I see him?
Tumblr media
Gosh this man is handsome. I muttered.
I found myself staring at him again. It was such a delight watching him. The crinkles in his eyes when he smiled. The way he fixed his hair. His nose. His height. Then I remembered something.
“Princess Hours. I saw him in Princess Hours! He is that actor!” Fuck I think I shouted too loud because he tilted his gaze at me.
Tumblr media
As soon as our eyes met, I quickly turned around and walked away as fast as I could. Why do we always have these awkward encounters?
Later that evening, I saw him drinking alone at the bar by the beach. He looked so sad and I was really not planning to disturb him or anything so sat a few seats away from him. He looked so sad. I wonder why. And yes, I am staring at him again. He probably noticed that someone is looking at him so he lifted his head and looked around until he saw me.
“You again.”
Tumblr media
He smiled at me. I couldn’t help but smile too.
Tumblr media
Few hours later, I found myself sitting next to him. We talked about random stuff. We laughed so hard with his funny stories while filming. I shared my story to him which I never did before. He told me about how acting has been his dream since he was a kind. He told me what his dream role was and even demonstrated how he would do it.
The he told me about how much depressed he is because he is not getting any offers and he is starting to believe that he is not cut for this industry. To be honest, I am not really a fan of his until today. I have never seen someone so passionate about something. The world needs to see how great he is.
He is so fun to be with. I felt so comfortable talking to him that I wish this night would never end.
“Gosh, it’s already 4 am. I didn’t even noticed the time” I said. He looked at his watch and he seemed surprised too. He walked me back to the hotel where I was staying.
“I had fun. I hope you did too” He said while smiling.
“I did, yes. So much”
“Ahm, a-are you leaving tomorrow?” He seemed shy while asking because he was touching his hair and I almost didn’t hear what he was saying.
“Yes. I’m coming home tomorrow. Why?”
“Ahmm, nothing. I just wanted to ask. I gotta go. Safe flight!” He turned around and started walking. When I was about to go inside the hotel, he turned back to me and said, “Hey, if I ever go to your country, can we meet?”
“Of course!”
He smiled so bright and I swear that was the brightest smile I have ever seen in my entire life.
Just a fan (Part 3)
Back to reality.
What happened in Thailand was a memory that I will forever cherish and I never hoped that he would actually remember me if we ever bumped into each other in the future.
But he did.
He went here for a fan meeting a few months later. I didn’t watch it because I was so busy at work and I didn’t even know that he was coming so I never got a chance to buy tickets. I only knew about it 2 days before the actual fan meet event.
Tumblr media
“Hello, who is this?”
“It’s me” A familiar voice answered the phone.
I paused for a moment and pinched myself. No i’m not dreaming. He actually is calling me. He asked for my number before he left the hotel that night. I gave it to him but I did not take it seriously when he said that he’s gonna call me.
He asked for my address and next thing I know, he was at my doorstep.
Tumblr media
We stayed up all night. We ate so much food. Movie marathon. Midnight drunk stories. I was happy. I was so happy.
Coming to my house has become a constant habit for him. He would fly back and forth just to be with me. Just so that we can hang out and watch movies together.
Tumblr media
He would cook for me when I feel like I had enough junk food and fast food.
Tumblr media
For those days when he can’t come, he would call me and send me random selfies.
Tumblr media
He was the perfect boyfriend-if only he was my boyfriend. But he’s not. We are not together. Even though I slept with him already. Many times.
I was too scared to ask him about his feelings for me. I’m scared that I will not hear the words that I want to hear if I ask him. I was just contented of what we have right now.
Just a fan (Part 4)
( I was too scared to ask him about his feelings for me. I’m scared that I will not hear the words that I want to hear if I ask him. I was just contented of what we have right now.)
I woke up with with his right hand over me and left hand holding mine. Before I could even turn around to face him, he leaned towards my ear and whispered, “I love you”
Tears are falling down from my eyes as I turn to his side. I held his face and he is crying too.
“I thought I’d never hear you say that” I said while wiping my tears. He brushed my hair off my face.
“Sorry for being late.”
~
I was the happiest girl in the world. Now I can finally say that he is the perfect boyfriend. He rarely gets mad. He is my sanity. He encourages me to be a better person every day. I have been living all alone for quite a while now and I already forgot what “home” felt like but being with him is “home”. He is my home.
Tumblr media
I was happy and contented with our relationship. No pressures. We support each other’s careers. I was satisfied being in a 4 sided room with him all day. I had nothing more to ask.
Until…
Tumblr media
Rumors started to spread that he is dating someone. It was okay for me at the beginning since I know that it was not true. I have my full trust on him and I believe him. I know that he would never do that to me.
That’s what I kept telling myself.
We endured this kind of set up for almost 2 years and I would have to admit that it is tiring. Really tiring.
When I wanted to tell the world about us. I can’t.
My phone is full of our photos and I really wanted to share it with everyone but I can’t.
I wanted to go out on normal dates whenever we want to but we can’t.
Whenever we are not in good terms, I wanted to tell my friends about so that I can feel better but I can’t.
It was too tiring that I started to nag him so much and we would fight every day. He used to visit me every day but every day becomes every other day, then once a week, then once every two weeks, then once a month until he never comes at all. He probably got tired too.
Letting him go was the biggest mistake of my life. I should have known what I was getting myself into long before it even started. I knew that it was not gonna be easy but I never expected that it would be this hard. I had no choice but to continue with my life–alone. Again.

Thanks for stopping by!
And thank you again, anonymous writer, for this reader insert fanfic. I enjoyed the story very much. The aptly chosen visuals–(that photo image, Ji Hoon’s pictures, and THAT TWEET) work so well to bring this narrative to life.
And the ending. How the writer talks about the relationship–the photos she can’t share or the dates they can’t do. I love the hurt that resides in these details.
Thank you for sharing your #Hyena fanfic with us. Yay. 😊
p.s. As a die-hard #KimHyeSoo fan, though, I got pulled out of the story when I saw that Tweet and I just about expired from squeals and happiness–before my brain caught up with me reminded me it was’t true. Hahaha.
As for the rest, if you’d like to catch other fanfics on this site, they’re here:

All of Me
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Hello. As you know, I’ve been writing fanfics for the KHS-JJH & Geumja-Hee Jae OTPs. (Yes, I realize I have only written once about GJ & HJ, but I have a ton of drafts about them, so it actually feels like I’ve written about them several times. Haha.)
Anyways, it’s such a happy feeling to know that you aren’t alone in the universe. Here’s a story someone submitted to my Tumblr account. I’m posting this because we love #Hyena fanfics here (and by extension, also KHS-JJH fanfics haha).
Thanks, sender, whoever you are. And please don’t stop writing. I enjoyed this story immensely. What I love about writing these fanfics is that we have the chance to go behind the scenes of the show, or in this case, of the story, pick a moment and expand it. This story pulls that off without a hitch.
Thank you, writer! This is a welcome, welcome surprise. As for the rest, here’s the story. Enjoy! 🙂
Summary: Hee Jae struggles with returning Geum Ja’s watch. Set shortly after Hyena, which I still haven’t gotten over.
Hee Jae stared at the watch in his hand again. He had lost count of the number of times he took it out, just to pocket it, unsure of how to return it to her. Return. Did it count as that? He had given it to the person he loved as Hee Sun, a persona tailored for him, or who he used to be. But she’d blindsided him in the courtroom - he still marvelled over it at times - and as he nursed his bitterness and hurt with every petty argument they had, he found himself falling into the colourful chaos that was her world. And he fell hard. She was smart, anyone could see that. She was strong-headed, to the point of being insufferably stubborn, but he learned to love this side of her. She never gave in to the hardships and labels the world threw at her, but came out stronger to prove her naysayers wrong. Those who didn’t know her saw it as vengeance or arrogance, but he recognised the fire in her eyes, her passion for life meshed with her doggedness. He was hooked. She wasn’t perfect, and there were things about her that still annoyed him, but this was the woman he’d sworn to protect. Despite her snarky nature, he knew she too, would always have his back. And beyond her seemingly impenetrable walls, there was a vulnerability that she allowed only him to see. He was grateful, and he loved her all the more for that. Her nightmares lingered, some nights worse than others. She tried to hide it at first, but he noticed her trembling hands when she handled a knife. He knew she wouldn’t want to get checked, at least not this soon, so he gave her the time and space she needed to manage her trauma. But it was in these little moments of weakness, cracks in her walls, that she sought him out the most. And he was always there, for her. Every nightmare that ended in tears, each time she dropped something while trying to cut it, he was there to pick it up, pick her up. He held her, reassured her, steadied her hand the same way she did his as he left his world behind. She surprised him with these moments of raw openness and need, that it left him wondering what to expect from her. What can he expect from her? He was always a little less than his arrogant self when it came to her. She’d never defined their relationship and what it meant to her. What he meant to her. He knew she worried about him. But it wasn’t enough. He was tired of waiting for her to reach out, of leaving their relationship grey. He wanted more. He wanted to hear her say she loved him too, he wanted to claim her as his. He wanted to taste her and make love to her. He wanted to wake up to her in the morning and fall asleep beside her at night. He wanted to do his groceries with her, cook for her. He wanted to ride the cable car with her, with both of them on it this time, and he wanted to catch a movie with her. He’d found out by accident that she enjoyed old films when he stumbled across her film collection among the clutter on the steps of the office. While other women collected shoes, she collected films, good ones too, and her collection easily rivaled his vinyl one. He wanted all that, and more. But he also knew he wasn’t going to get it all at once. It was almost as if she was afraid to be loved. Being with her tested him more than the bar had, but he’d choose her over and over, no questions asked. One step at a time, he thought to himself. He let out a long sigh and drew his thoughts back to the present. Staring down at the case papers on his desk, he knew he wouldn’t be able to concentrate the rest of the night. It was late, everyone had left, but he was waiting for her. She was out meeting a client. He wanted to return her watch, but he hasn’t yet figured how. Restless, he stood from his desk and wandered over to hers. He never really explored her corner of the office, and since she was out, he took the chance to do so now. Perhaps he would learn something new or two about the woman he loved. His fingers traced the edge of her desk, running across her nameplate, stopping at her brass table lamp. He gave the lamp shade a light flick and it rang dully. He’d taken a liking to the light fixtures and lamps in the office because of their ornate detailing. Though he still preferred a modern scandinavian look, he developed a new appreciation for vintage. He’d never admit this to Ji Eun though. The office decor had grown on him like how Geum Ja had. She’d opened up a whole new world for him without him realising. It was clear from the way he approached his cases now, where he considered things he previously would’ve missed out on. His dressing too, had taken a louder tone, and recently, he found himself going for the bitterness of soju over wine, especially when faced with difficult clients. He smiled to himself as he rounded her desk. He saw the golf bag in the corner and wondered if she actually played golf. Nah, it’s not her. He made a mental note to ask her what she did for exercise and wondered if he could convince her to join his gym sessions. Stopping in front of the 80s television set on her bookshelf, he noticed a photo of the building she wanted to own taped to it. He smiled as he recalled how she shared her story with him. While there was nothing grand or dramatic in what she said, she laid bare her dreams and insecurities that day. He knew then that she trusted him fully. His eyes skimmed the law books on the upper shelf, and as he was about to turn away, he noticed something familiar. He looked back, and there, peeking out from behind the volumes, was what looked like a vinyl record. He reached for it and when he pulled it out, his face broke into a smile. On the cover was Go Yi Man with the words ‘To Yoon Hee Jae, be happy’. She didn’t toss it afterall. He was surprised. He hadn’t expected her to harbour any sentimentality about their relationship at that time, especially not after their bar conversation where she told him she had never been sincere with him, and broke his heart a second time. He felt like he was back in her car, having just discovered Paganini on her playlist, watching her squirm under this gaze. And this was all the push he needed. As if on cue, he heard the door open, and her tired voice streamed through the office in a yawn. He walked out to the common area, record in hand. She was mid-stretch when she noticed him, and when her eyes travelled down to what he was holding, she froze. “Jung Geum Ja, what’s this?” he asked, raising the record and waggling it for emphasis. His face was smug. Her eyes followed his movements. She took a few seconds to gather herself, and when she did, she shot him a look of mild annoyance. “It is what it is.” She said casually as she dropped her bag on the armchair and sat on the couch. But Hee Jae could tell she was still uneasy, he was attuned to her moods and mannerisms by now. Her brows furrowed, and she turned to him sharply, her expression accusatory. “And exactly why were you snooping around my desk?” Her tone was rough, but held no malice. Her question caught him off guard, but he answered honestly. “I was curious.” She scoffed at that. “How does that make it okay?” “It doesn’t-” he stopped mid-sentence when he realised what she was doing. “Ya. Jung Geum Ja. Stop deflecting.” He moved to sit on the coffee table in front of her, trapping her between his knees. “Just answer me. Why do you have this?” He nodded towards the record in his hand, an expectant look on his face. He could tell she was wracking her brain for an answer. “I wanted to sell it. It’s a limited edition piece, it would’ve been a waste to toss it.” Even she knew it was a weak excuse before she finished. “Lies.” He narrowed his eyes at her in dissatisfaction. He’d expected a cop-out answer from her, it was Jung Geum Ja after all. “It’s autographed - with my name. It never would’ve fetched any real value,” he deadpanned. She avoided his gaze, but he stared at her with the same intensity until she cracked. “Fine. I didn’t throw it away alright? I don’t know why I didn’t, I don’t know what came over me. Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe you already started to mean something to me back then,” she huffed. A moment of silence passed between them, and his smile widened. He was pleased. “Are you that happy?” “If you’d like to know, yes. I am.” She rolled her eyes, shaking her head at him in disbelief, but she was smiling. He took her in - the way her nose crinkled, how her eyes lit up, and his expression turned tender. “You know what would make me happier?” His voice was serious. She remained silent, but her eyes were questioning. He took a deep breath, and reached for her right hand. She didn’t resist. He unclasped the watch she was wearing, and took the one from his pocket out. He paused to look up at her, giving her an opportunity to pull back. He could see traces of worry and fear in her face, but the hint of certainty lining her eyes told him she wanted this too. And that was enough. He slipped the watch on her wrist and fastened it. “There. Now you can’t come up with any excuses to run away from me. I’m giving this to you knowing who you are and what I’m getting into. And I want all of that, I want you. Don’t run from me anymore, please.” She stared into his eyes, as if expecting him to come to his senses and back out. But he held her gaze, and when she gave him the slightest nod, he let go of a breath he didn’t realise he was holding. “Does it mean the same thing?” She asked cautiously. “My time is now your time?” He knew he wanted to return it to her, but he never really stopped to think about what it meant for the both of them. He thought about it for a few moments, looking down at her hands in his before continuing. “That and more, I guess. My time, and all of me, is yours. But this also means you’re now responsible to me too. I know you’re used to doing things on your own, and I’m not expecting you to change. But before you run headfirst into danger next time, can you at least remember that there’s someone waiting for you back home? You’re not alone anymore. There’s someone that worries for you, and would hate to see you hurt.” His voice was almost breaking, and he stopped to steady himself. “He’d rather die than lose you.” His voice dropped to a whisper, and he took a deep breath to reign in his emotions before looking at her squarely in the face. Her black orbs were shiny, and there was a storm of emotions that wasn’t there before. He could tell she was trying to steel herself. He gave her hand a light squeeze. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love you, Jung Geum Ja.” “Hee Jae-” She bit her lip, unsure of how to continue. She closed her eyes, and for a brief moment, he thought he could sense the conflict within her, like she was fighting her own emotions and insecurities. But it was soon replaced by quiet confidence, and when she looked at him with eyes that seemed to go on forever, he had his answer. Her face was sure, and her expression told him everything that she couldn’t. “I know,” his voice was gentle. “I know. You don’t need to tell me you love me, well, not now. But-” He paused to collect himself before continuing. “At least give me this.” She cocked her head, confused. “Give you wha-” He closed the gap between their lips before she could finish. With one hand on her nape, he sucked tenderly on her lower lip and teased her with the tip of his tongue before pulling away. “This.” He smirked at her reaction. Her face was flushed, her eyes still closed, and her lips parted with the slightest tilt in the corners of her mouth. Looks like he wasn’t the only one who wanted more. When she opened her eyes, her gaze was different. He could see the heat in her darkened eyes, mirroring the desire that was in his. He pulled her in as she reached for him almost instantaneously, and his mouth captured hers. Perhaps it was the absence of alcohol, but she tasted sweeter than he remembered. He tugged at her lips, desperate for more. She responded with the same hunger, her fingers tangling themselves in his hair as their tongues clashed. He had one hand cupping her cheek, but the other was already underneath her shirt, running across her lower back, pulling her in. Their last kiss felt like ages ago, but his body didn’t take long to remember hers. He felt the need rise within him with her finally in his arms, kissing him back, her hands all over him at once. She gripped his hair and pulled him closer. He stood from the coffee table and moved on top of her, pushing her down on the couch. Their hands moved quickly, and before long, their clothes were in a pile on the floor. He didn’t go for her curves first, but her scars. The scars on my body show me what I’ve been through. He wanted her to show him too. He found the one on her right shoulder first, and as he ran his fingers tenderly over the rough skin, she buried her moan in his neck. His mouth found hers again as his hand moved to her stomach next. There, he found remnants of a knife wound. He fingered the thin, raised scar, and other smaller scars scattered around her torso, until she was writhing beneath him. He revelled in the way her body felt against his, as his right hand slipped into her left one, caressing the knife scars on her palm. When they broke apart for air, with only the sound of their pants between them, and her hand in his, he looked into her eyes and knew this was what they both wanted. He leaned down to kiss the scar on her shoulder as he moved against her, kissing his way along her collarbone and up her neck, to her ear. “Just for the record, this night did happen,“ he breathed into her ear, his voice ragged. She laughed at this, a full hearty laugh that reverberated through him, and made him swell with emotion. He could feel her nod against him. “Yes, yes it did. And you’d better remember it.“  He’d no doubt he would, as she pressed her body into his and met his urgent strokes with equal intensity. His last coherent thought before he lost himself in her was that it was a Friday night, and they didn’t have to explain themselves to anybody the next morning. Fin.
