the anthropology institute of mexico is suing mr beast LMAOOOOO

Regarding the video released by YouTuber Mr. Beast, the National Institute of Anthropology and History announces that it is always open to audiovisual proposals that contribute to the understanding and dissemination of Mexico's archaeological and cultural heritage.

We are pleased that YouTubers and all the world's young people appreciate the value of our indigenous civilizations.
What the INAH strongly condemns is those who take advantage of the institutions' willingness to violate the terms of the authorizations granted. Furthermore, the INAH condemns those who, for commercial gain and private profit, dare to distort the value of archaeological sites, which are a legacy of our indigenous cultures and the pride of our nation.
The permit issued to Full Circle Media, representing Mr. Beast, did not authorize the publication of false information or the use of images of archaeological sites to advertise trademarks for private profit.

The nation's heritage, which is public by nature, cannot be exploited by commercial enterprises. The separation of political and economic power is an essential principle of [the mexican government]
For this reason, the INAH has filed an administrative lawsuit against the production company, demanding compensation for damages and a public retraction for failing to comply with the terms of the permits issued in good faith by the institution and for making illicit use, for private profit, of the archaeological heritage that belongs to all Mexicans.

I've never been one to complain about rainbow capitalism anyway and in 2025 I am firmly "I will take whatever I can get" but I wish that conversation ever focused on whether companies putting pride themed logos on their social media accounts have homophobic or transphobic policies behind the scenes. Subaru was notable in the 90s because when their market research showed their cars were popular with lesbians and they decided to start actively advertising to them, they backed that up with policies for their LGBTQ employees, notably extending benefits to same-sex partners when gay couples couldn't legally get married, which was a big deal at the time. If a company is doing rainbow capitalism in public but have a history of employees complaining about discrimination we should talk about that but that's never what the generic complaints about rainbow capitalism are.

we need to invent a spray tan-style treatment but instead of spraying you with tanning stuff it sprays you with heavy duty spf. and it lasts a few weeks so that way you can just get your spf spray a few times a summer instead of having to spend 10 minutes every day getting sticky and oily and making sure the sunscreen is all rubbed in. how do i get on shark tank

One of my neighbors has two freaky dogs. Creepy, uncanny dogs. Two dogs which move like a single entity in two bodies. Anzu is freaked out by them. Their owner looks beleaguered by them. Whenever I see them she has the exhausted affect of an overworked domestic servant. It looks like she is in charge of two elven princes who have been cursed to take canine form. They often look as if they’re planning to eat smaller dogs, but never bark, even while standing up on their hind legs or stalking other dogs down the sidewalk, which of course makes them creepier.
I was extremely confident in my breed ID on these dogs but tonight they came close enough without Anzu barking at THEM, I was like, for due diligence and my own satisfaction I will ask. “Are they basenjis?”
The owner, being dragged in opposite directions on two leashes like the victim of a terrible Roman torture, gasped “yes” with the faintest of breaths. And then her dogs carried her away

Help I'm dying.
#the “low” temperatures are killing me even more than the highs#nothing like opening the door at night when the sun's been down for hours#and running face-first into a wall of heat and humidity#82°F would be a hot summer's day in the normal course of things#as an overnight low it's fucking insane

I worked at a daycare across the street from a fire station, which my twos found absolutely fascinating. The second the sirens started they'd perk up and yell that there was a fire truck.
Only, "tr" is a difficult sound for wee ones to make. And I guess the "f" sound in "fire" was just too easy to transfer and repeat.
So what they would actually yell at the top of their tiny little lungs was: "IT'S A FIRE FUCK!"
(Which I suppose from the fire's perspective wasn't exactly inaccurate.)
so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.
"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"
but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.
such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.
#early childhood education#there was also a fox beanie baby with their toys#bet you can guess what it was called#it astounds me that i was trusted to keep small children alive for barely more than minimum wage

Someone was asking in a thread what kind of people could work for ICE right now.
I think it's a good time to remember that the image above are the people who put children into gas chambers.
When I was little, I asked what kind of person could work at a concentration camp.
The answer to both questions I think is "normal people who have accepted the dehumanization of another group of people."

Normally non-academic articles summarizing studies have awful headlines that severely misrepresent the actual findings.
This is an exception.
