I came across this guy on Facebook, and this outfit specifically gives me big Nik "effortlessly put together" vibes.

I love Laswell's assortment of puffer gilets and butch shirts. You just know, pre-wife, that when she had to select a glamorous dress for a CIA function Back In The Day she called in her disaster gay best friend-no, not that one, the one who can afford brand names from outside Mountain Warehouse and is quite happily out of the closet: Nikolai.

And Nik did not pull punches. Kate totters out in something she thinks is flattering; Nik flicks down his copy of the Financial Times, glances her up and down, and simply says, "No," before looking back at his article.

"What? Why? I thought--"

"If you want to wear a belt, then we should pick out a suit, the material makes you look like Chernobyl orphan and you took that cord around the neckline from my Babushka's curtains."

Laswell scuttles back into the changing room to try on the next one. Nik is less scathing the second time. The process is more brutal than any interrogation Laswell's faced, but she always ends up looking flawless.

When she gets married, she decides she can't possibly break tradition and invites Nik to the wedding dress shopping. Watching him well up and sniff, pretending to be nonchalant when she finally finds the one, feels like the appropriate conclusion to their little arrangement.

i just can't convey the frustration and sorrow that it's been to grow up at first without the internet and then watching it bloom into this useful, fun, connecting force you sometimes spent time on, only for it to degrade into this constant oppressive waste of time and energy where people are constantly pumping out algorithmically designed content for max algorithmic appeal and even the most simple search generates either no results or an infinite abyss of ai generated slop none of which is usable or correct. we briefly had a library of alexandria and then fed it into a paper shredder so advertisers could sell a random mash of pulp back to us at a premium.
