Okay so middle grade continues to dominate my reading game, it's so great

I reread "Surviving the Applewhites"

Which was very formative to my "found family" obsession and Jake Semple had my little sixth grade heart

Rereading it it's as great as ever even I love the massive creative family thing. As someone who has worked with a lot of traumatized kids Jake's arc doesn't make a ton of sense like I don't think largely ignoring a kid and making him primarily responsible for a 4 year old is as healing as it seemed

But I also don't care it's a kids book and it's great AND I just found out there are two sequels?????

Brb literally driving across town to pick them up

eagerly awaiting the reveal of what political science 101 concept is she going to stop the plot to teach middle schoolers about. we got bread and circuses we got the extended work on thomas hobbes my money is on haymitch starting this book as an objectivist and having to unlearn that in the face of true struggle

Fundamentally do not understand people who will "read anything"

I will read a book if it's a available on Libby no wait, if it is realistic fiction or maybe magical realism or MAYBE a little scifi like sci-fi in the way la Croix is a flavored drink just barely I don't like going back further in history than about the 1960's if it's in the future eeeee I don't know has to not very long like not more than 300 pages or over 8 hours in an audiobook and it can't be too flowery it can't be too slow and even IF WE HIT ALL THAT I MIGHT NOT EVEN borrow it unless I'm really really getting the right vibe

It's an exhausting way to live
