similar to a previous confession I LOVE it when people roleplay their Toon during a run. Like isn’t that the whole point of playing Dandy’s World? Be a silly little cartoon character on a “scary” adventure with other silly little cartoon characters? A little bit of whimsy goes a looooong way

I hate how any toon with an actual personality flaw instantly gets labeled as rude or an asshole.

Vee’s blunt, sarcastic, kinda narcissistic and arrogant? Suddenly she’s an “asshole,” “toxic,” or “a bully.” “My god, why do people ship he with Shelly?? She bullies her!”

Brusha’s blunt and irritable? Must be why her and Tisha aren’t friends anymore.

Sprout’s straightforward and overprotective? Oh no, let your friends breathe!

Dandy’s short-tempered, impatient, and scared of losing friends? “Dude, chill. It’s not that deep.”

Glisten’s cocky, dramatic, attention-seeking, and a little narcissistic? “Ugh, get over yourself. What a jerk.”

Like no. I love characters with flaws. It makes them more interesting and actually gives them room for development.

Take Glisten for example—yeah, he comes off as narcissistic, self-obsessed, cocky, and jealous. But if you actually read the notes in his room, he’s the complete opposite. He writes about being insecure, feeling like he has to be perfect, and it’s inferred that he’s  jealous of the attention Vee, Dandy, and Astro get. Which explains why he’s “coincidentally” so similar to Vee, a more popular toon. (Same personality traits, same expressions, similar stats, even similar animations.) His notes also show that he cares about his friends, like when he comforts Boxten or helps Rodger pick up papers.

Even in his twisted form, he’s the only one who can still speak English. He literally ties his own wrists to stop himself from attacking the player. His attack animation? It’s not him lunging, it’s him trying to hugthe player but tripping, hurting them with the broken glass on his face. 

Same with Vee. She’s actually really similar to Glisten. She wants attention, she’s scared of being replaced/not good enough. That’s why she’s jealous of Dandy. In her old dialogue with Brightney (it got replaced, but it’s still on the wiki), she admits she doesn’t mean to upset people, she just accidentally comes off as rude. It’s also kind of implied she’s sentient and can feel stuff, but just bad at expressing emotions. It’s shown in the camera footage with Veronica that she feels like she’s only seen as her code and she feels like she isn’t enough. 

And don’t even get me started on Brusha—I could ramble about her and Vee for hours.

Point is, flawed characters are my favorites. They’re the ones that feel real.
