Happy Pride Month to these two! A little sequel to this art (let's not talk about the fact that Kale's hair just suddenly grew longer).

Here are the tricky dialogue comic bits for my Chai-tentatively-joins-Vandelay AU -- there are so many speech bubbles in these images. The rest under the read more is focussed on filling in a few of the gaps I haven't covered yet, solely Chai and Kale stuff.

To preface, I apologise for the absolutely stupid and cliche pages - that are supposed to be pivotal for these two - I decided to draw lower down this post. It would not leave my mind and so I had to manifest it.

While this has some linearity between pages I did leave a couple gaps because I didn't want to iron out the dialogue or events (I've been thinking about this almost exclusively for a year but I'm still not sure what to go with) and I've already drawn these two too many times during this drawn-out, self-inflicted, errr, thing. Still shaky on drawing stuff from the game events proper, doesn't sit right with me but nothing really changes (not sure really) because of the motivations of the main characters.

Something that partly influenced this batch was this one yt comment that said that In A Blink's lyrics / vampire theming weren't supposed to be homoerotic and were just about capitalism, and I thought "why not both?". Anyway, thanks for reading.

About the characters:

Jack is an orphan. His only family is his older brother, Nightlight.

Just like game canon, Hiccup runs away. Stoick keeps pressuring about how he would take over someday, and it scared him off.

Toothless is a cat droid Hiccup invented, basing off the first cat Hiccup ever owned.

North was one of the Department heads, until Pitch had him replaced. He was the one who told Nightlight about Project Dreams, later tweaked by Pitch when he added the his 'Nyx' program to the code.

Not a robot... Or a rabbit, Aster's loyalty was to North, the Haddocks being secondary. Although, he and Astrid belonged to the same department.

Astrid was a security guard who was promoted as head of security because of her hard work and diligence. Shortly after that, Pitch somehow managed to become head CEO.

Some plotpoints not following any particular order:

Instead of Project Armstrong, it's called 'Project Dreams.' Furthermore, 'Spectra' is now 'Nyx.'

Jack's 'defect' isn't a prosthetic arm but a Chronic illness. Nightlight hoped that Project Dreams would be the miraculous cure his brother needed. Jack was sceptical, and only agreed to give it a try because he loved his brother. Also, he figured he had nothing else to lose.

Until there was.

After the complication during Jack's treatment, he developed ice powers. Since he is a defect, if they don't reverse the effects soon, his heart will be frozen and basically stop.

Jack's hair slowly turns white, indicating how much time he has.

Jack's hair turns completely white when he uses his powers, but it doesn't stay white.

Until of course it does if they don't reverse the effects and he's dead.

Jack's initial approach when meeting Hiccup: playful flirting that doesn't mean anything.

The approach as he slowly understood his situation: annoyance.

They banter a lot.
