So... I’ve run out of steam on this blog, and I don’t know how regularly I’ll post to it, especially once my work picks back up, so I thought I’d make this sum-up post.
The following things should be noted, though:
It’s 26 or 27 weeks now. (I’m convinced I lost count somewhere.)
September 2 is therefore 31 or 32 weeks on the nose from the day Change Your Mind aired. That’s not full term territory or nothing, but it’s a pretty big hiatus and definitely proves that you can in fact have a baby during this hiatus.
Wow.

24 weeks! Do I have anything to say about my own mini-hiatus? No! Do I have time today to make a post about what’s going on with Hiatus Baby? Not technically! But it is in fact theoretically possible to have a baby during this hiatus because just a week or two ago we reached the age of earliest possible viability, which means Hiatus Baby could theoretically survive outside the womb.
...Yay?

20 weeks! Halfway there! Hiatus Baby is the size of a banana (or, apparently, a Troll doll). It can suck its thumb and taste stuff. Like its thumb.
Look, not every week is a winner.

Week 19 brings the awareness of Hiatus Baby moving around and its nerve endings to bring it the senses largely fully developed. The better to see the SU movie with and experience those sweet collabs!

So I was super busy the week before Memorial Day and then last week I got sick and I’m still sick so the most I’m really up for writing today is that it’s been 18 weeks.

15 weeks! Hiatus Baby is the size of an orange! It’s forming taste buds, the better to eat Cookie Cats with! The ears have moved from the neck to the head, and the eyes are moving where they’re supposed to be.
It’s amazing we’re three eighths through this!

At week 14, bones would be visible on an x-ray. Not sure if cool or terrifying. :-/ Hiatus Baby is the size of an apple!

Hiatus Baby is as big as a peach at week 14! It’s growing hair and--oh, its neck! What about it? It has one!
youtube
The mouth and digestive system are getting some development, too!
And I’m still making posts to this blog two days late each week!

Do you know what week 13 is? It’s about one-third of the way to the date this blog set out at its offset! Hiatus Baby is starting to form vocal cords and its head is about half the size of its total frame. It’s the size of a lemon and a little over three-quarters of an ounce!
Maybe at one third of the way through this we’re all starting to get a second wind?

With week 11 comes the development that Hiatus Baby’s bones are beginning to harden and we might soon know if it’s a boy or a girl or a gem or one of those creatures from the Kyanite Colony. Does it matter?! Who knows!?
(Late again! ...I don’t have an excuse this time. :-/ )

Week 10 means Hiatus Baby is kumquat sized! Its fingers and toes are un-webbing, and its brain is developing fast! Fast enough to get us out of this hiatus? Who knows!?
(Sorry this is a few days late. Computer weirdness and general busy-ness.)

At week 9, Hiatus Baby’s heart is starting to become more and more developed, and there might be a discernible heartbeat! Joints and muscles are developing, allowing for more movement! Hiatus Baby is about the size of a grape or cherry.
...I’m getting tired of these hokey “symptoms of the hiatus” things, so while they aren’t completely written off and could reappear at some point if they feel right, I’m just gonna take this moment to note that for some reason I find it absolutely hilarious that the book announced today, The Tale of Steven, is set to release October 29, one day after the planned “goal” for this blog. That’s just... awesomely weird timing. 0_o

Eight weeks! Wow! Hiatus Baby’s grown to the size of a raspberry! It can move--though that can’t be felt yet--and it’s starting to branch out a nervous system!
Around now, you may be having dreams of the Steven Universe episodes you wish you could see. These may be especially vivid if you’re a writer or artist, too. Don’t worry. Use these dreams to fill the time until you can see something new! Or create something new of your own, if you’re into that!

It’s been seven weeks! Hiatus Baby is blueberry-sized now! Its brain is developing at an alarming rate! It’s starting to grow joints in its limbs!
As for how you’re handling the hiatus, you may have started to crave things like Cookie Cats, fry bits, even the occasional Lion Licker or square pizza. Or maybe not, because Lion Lickers and square pizzas are horrible and you should stay as far away from them as possible, lest bad things happen. But... you’re so... sure that they’ll give you... the strength you need to weather... the hiatus...

Six weeks means Hiatus Baby is the size of a pea, or a quarter of an inch! It’s circulating blood and starting to form the first inklings of things like facial features, the middle/inner ear, and other organs.
The fact that I’m using a pretend embryo as measurement of the hiatus makes this sound just a little terrifying (“the hiatus has sprouted eyes!!”), but I digress.
At week 6, you are likely to have definitely realized this is a hiatus and not just any normal break between episodes. You probably are still feeling (or feeling for the first time) the way you may have felt about the hiatus in previous weeks. Given some of this show’s hiatuses, 6 weeks is probably nothing to most of you. (Then again, people were worried about the off week between Escapism and Change Your Mind, so...)

It’s the five week mark! Hiatus Baby is the size of an apple seed! It’s starting to form organs! Wow!
If you didn’t feel the effects of the hiatus last week, you might be feeling it this week. Or not. Everyone’s experience with the hiatus is different, and not everyone has that many troubles five weeks in.
