Mosquitoes are present in abundance and it goes without saying that almost everybody is somewhere battling to win their #WarAgainstDengue. Mosquitoes infect millions of people throughout the nation every year causing fatal diseases and even death. Isn’t that a devastating effect that these deadly creatures cause? Indeed it is!
The saddest part is that children are very easily affected by mosquitoes and are prone to diseases caused by mosquito bites. Here’s an eye opener to the deadliest diseases mosquito borne diseases, their causes and prevention. Prevention, as we always say is indeed much better than cure!
Other than providing us with itchiest bites, mosquitoes are also known for spreading some of the deadliest diseases like:
• Malaria
• Dengue
• Chikungunya
• Yellow Fever
• Zika
MALARIA
Malaria is one of the deadliest mosquito borne diseases affecting humans, mainly the young. It is transmitted through mosquito bites and is caused by parasitic protozoans.
Symptoms:
• Headaches
• Sweats
• Vomiting
• High Temperature
• Muscle Pain
DENGUE
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that has a debilitating effect on a human body. Symptoms of dengue emerge four to six days after the infection.
Symptoms:
• Fatigue
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Severe Headache
• High Fever
• Skin Rash
• Pain behind the eyes
YELLOW FEVER
This is another disease spread by mosquitoes. Yellow because of the jaundice affect some patients inhabit.
Symptoms:
• Loss of appetite
• Muscle pain
• Fever
• Headache
• Chills
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Back Pain
• Fatigue
Followed by these, Chikungunya, West Nile and Zika Virus are a few that are considered as some of the deadliest mosquito borne diseases caused. These have a very harmful effect on body leading to serious illness.
How do mosquitoes transmit infection you ask?
Well, mosquitoes themselves do not get affected by the disease, infact they support the growth of the microorganisms and in turn transmit them to humans.
When a virus or bacteria enters a mosquito, it goes through a lot of changes leading to its maturation and development within the mosquito. Once this virus reaches the infective stage, the mosquitoes rid themselves of the microorganisms through their saliva. And when this infected mosquito bites a human, it injects the microorganism into the human through its saliva. So, always prevent getting bitten by a mosquito!
What happens next?
The microorganism that enters a human body undergoes a series of transformations. It gradually keeps developing inside the body infecting various cells, causing continuous immune reaction, and ultimately leading to the disease.
Symptoms:
• Mild to high-grade fever
• Lethargy
• Joint pain
• Headache
• Increased perspiration
• Dry cough
• Reactions such as itchiness and superficial pa-pules also occur TREATMENT The treatment for mosquito-borne diseases aims at killing the infecting parasite, virus or bacteria. Anti-malarial drugs, fluid and electrolyte balance and antipyretics are all used in the treatment of such infections. PREVENTION While we are now aware of the havoc these mosquitoes can cause, here are the preventive measures you can take to keep mosquitoes at bay and make your home safe today:

All About Chikungunya
What is Chikungunya, causes of Chikungunya and how does it spread?
Humans and others primates are natural hosts for the Chikungunya Virus. The Chikungunya disease (चिकनगुनिया) is when the virus is spread to humans by the bite of an infected Female Aedes Egypti Mosquito which breeds in and around human habitation. The same Chikungunya mosquito causes dengue and yellow fever: it is a daytime to evening biter. It needs only 2ml of water to breed and eggs can lie dormant for one year!! Chikungunya initially spread from infected monkeys in Africa & Humans via mosquito bites. Now it spreads from infected humans to other people via the Aedes mosquito bite.
Signs and symptoms of Chikungunya
Female Aedes Egypti Mosquitoes with the Chikungunya virus bite humans as they need the blood to develop their eggs. Symptoms usually occur 3-7 days after infection by mosquito bite. Usually, there is fever and pain, but Chikungunya symptoms may include a headache, severe body ache, Chinkungunya Fever, muscle pain and joint pain/swelling or even a mild rash. Patients often get better in a couple of weeks with bed –rest and paracetamol, but aspirin must be avoided. Often the human  immune system in the young and healthy gets rid of the Chikungunya can be debilitating with dreadful body aches and weakness especially for the elderly  or those with pre – existing ailments like diabetes or High B.P. Newborns and small children too can suffer pain, fever and be more susceptible to the symptoms of Chikungunya.
Chikungunya Diagnosis:
For Specific Chikungunya test, Diagnosis is done via serological tests such as ELISA, which confirm the presence of Chikungunya antibodies. Virological methods like RT-PCR are also available.
Chikungunya Treatment
There is no vaccine currently available for Chikungunya treatment. There are no specific treatments either for Chikungunya cure. Aspirin must be avoided and also further exposure to mosquitoes. Treatment of Chikungunya is done symptomatically: with bed rest, fluids and medicines to relieve fever, aches and pain like Ibuprofen and paracetomel. The immune system itself helps to fight the Chikungunya virus and diseases. Chloroquine phosphate (250 mg) has been tried by experts say the results are inconclusive.
How to Cure Chikungunya
While there is no cure for Chikungunya, be aware of the causes of Chikunguyna and stop breeding of mosquitoes in door and take quick action for prevention of Chikungunya.
Prevention and Control of Chikungunya

Signs and Symptoms of Chikungunya
What is Chikungunya (चिकनगुनिया) and how does it spread?
Female mosquitoes need the protein in blood to develop their eggs. During the monsoon, pools of water provide a perfect breeding place; but even vases, planters and small amounts of water are fine for breeding. Female mosquitoes that are infected with the Chikungunya virus, that is all too prevalent in India, bite humans, drink their blood and thus infect them with the virus, causing the Chikungunya fever and diseases.
What attracts them to Humans?
Body odor, strong scents, lactic acid and secretions from our bodies, type O blood (the most common type) and warm Carbon Dioxide we all exhale: these are very attractive to Chikungunya disease.
The signs and symptoms of Chikungunya.
Most people infected with the Chikungunya virus develop symptoms 3-7 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. The most obvious Chikungunya symptoms are fever and joint pain, but other symptoms include a headache severe body ache, muscle pain, joint swelling and a mild rash. Many patients feel better in a week or two, but sometimes the Chikungunya virus results in acute Symptoms of Chikungunya like bone-crushing feelings of overall body ache. Chikungunya doesn’t usually result in death, but some symptoms of chikungunya fever can be chronic and disabling and last for many months. While its easy to detect symptoms of chikungunya in adults people at risk for more serious Chikungunya diseases are: newborns, small children as symptoms of chikungunya in children go unnoticed, senior citizens and also people with pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes or heart diseases.
During recent Chikungunya epidemics, it was observed by doctor-scientist that symptoms of Chikungunya in adults and children may cause long term symptoms following acute infection. This condition has been termed “Chronic Chikungunya virus induced arthralgia”. Senior Citizens in a wide- ranging study reported prolonged painful joints, as much as three years after initial Chikungunya infection. More than half of the patients studied reported long-term muscular skeletal pain. In another study, 66%people reported muscle and joint pains (asthenia), a year after acute Chikungunya mosquito infection. Advanced age, Rheumatic disease, small infants, and toddlers should be taken to the doctor/hospital upon suspicion of Chikungunya, Viral antigens have been detected in the muscle biopsy of a person suffering recurrent severe episodes of Chikungunya symptoms, three months after the first episode. Hence although not normally life-threatening Chikungunya can cause distressing, debilitating and even disabling symptoms: particularly in the already weak, ailing or elderly persons. Avoiding suck symptoms and situations is obviously a priority, as symptoms can be alleviated till the virus gets out of the system.
Prevention, it is said, is better than cure. In this case of this painful infection, it would be essential to get a complete mosquito-control program completed yearly from a professional pest control service provider and stay safe from the many diseases causing viruses spread by mosquitoes. Otherwise, be prepared for doctors and Chikungunya treatment.
Call The Chikungunya Experts for KPB
Home remedies might be a good solution up to a certain extent but for better care of your family from symptoms of chikungunya, Hicare Anti-Chikungunya Anti-Dengue Service is recommended. Kill Protect Block Technology is a three step Chikungunya mosquito control service that stops the mosquitoes from breeding in the first place while terminating the already present mosquitoes. When it comes to Dengue or for that matter any mosquito transmitted disease nothing is more important than making sure utmost prevention is taken and especially so during the monsoon season.  To avert the menace of dengue virus, you can only depend on the precautions because as yet, neither is there a dengue vaccine or a dengue virus treatment nor any medication for this fatal disease. The best way to prevent the disease is to prevent bites by infected mosquitoes.
Dengue fever is rampant worldwide but the highest number of dengue cases is recorded in Asian countries due to its tropical atmosphere.
Dengue Prevention Tips
Apart from keeping your surrounding and the external environment clean, here are some useful tips.
Avoid excessive watering of potted plants and draining out stale water immediately. In fact, it is advised to loosen the soil from potted plants to prevent accumulation of stagnant water on the surface of the hardened soil. The stagnant water creates an ideal site for them mosquitoes to breed.
Don’t let garbage accumulate especially the wet garbage such as vegetable waste, fruit peels, and food debris. Make sure trash is disposed of properly away from your home. Keeping the surroundings clean is the single most effective method to prevent dengue in common household.
Use windows and door screens at home to prevent mosquitoes from entering. Use mosquito nets while sleeping especially when it comes to small children. Wearing clothes that minimize skin exposure to mosquitoes is also advisable.
Mosquito repellent is another effective way of protecting yourself and your family.

Things to do if you suspect symptoms of dengue
When it comes to dengue infection, there is no specific medication, although regular checkups can be done to make sure it doesn’t strike any further (डेंगू के लक्षण और उपचार)
Pain relievers can be an effective medic for immediate respite. Patients having dengue fever symptoms should be admitted to hospitals immediately for quick and effective dengue treatment.
Along with medicines, doctors recommend a strict diet for dengue patients for speedy recovery.
Resting and drinking plenty of fluids along with the patient’s normal diet to prevent dehydration is also advised apart from consulting a physician.
Best Foods Dengue Patients should eat
Care should be taken while selecting foods for dengue patients as those foods should be easily consumable and digestible.
This is because dengue affects the liver of a person and because of weak liver condition; it becomes difficult for the body to digest food easily.
Diet for dengue patients generally includes lot of fluid intake, green vegetables and proteins.
Drinking plenty of fluids helps in removing toxins from the body.
Care to take for Dengue patients
There is no precise medication for Dengue fever though but if a clinical diagnosis of symptoms of Dengue is made early, an experienced doctor can reduce the impact of Dengue in an individual.
This can be treated patiently with exercise, good diet, work out plans and multivitamins.
A diet rich in fruits, vegetables and proteins should be taken along with a multi vitamin supplement which can all rectify the symptoms which cause dengue.
Generally liquids in the form of fruit juice, coconut water is a preeminent solution although WHO recommends ORS (Oral Dehydration Solution) on a regular basis for treatment of dengue fever.
Absolute bed rest for faster recovery might play a catalyst in speedy recovery as well.
Dengue fever recovery time The dengue fever normally lingers for three to four days but depending on the patient’s condition it might take few days to a couple of weeks for all the symptoms for dengue to disappear leading to a month of weakness at a bare minimum. In a typical dengue infection case, rarely does the dengue symptom extend beyond a month. Low platelet count generally persists for up to a week after dengue fever subsides. Thereafter, platelet count usually starts recovering gradually. Dengue patients with other complications like Myocarditis, Pancreatitis, and renal failure take a very long time to recover and they need specific dengue treatment for these impediments.
Is Dengue Fever Contagious?
Other than physical transfer of infected blood from a dengue infected individual to a healthy person, dengue cannot spread directly. There has never been a report of the spread of dengue infection through the means of coughing or sneezing. Although a person down with a dengue fever (degu bukhar) can infect other mosquitoes causing it to spread further. A dengue fever patient goes through two spells of fever and must ensure no mosquito bites until dengue fever subsides. Be especially careful in protecting the patient during daytime as the dengue mosquito is more likely to bite during the day than at night.

Monsoon Disease Alert - Common Symptoms of Dengue To Look Out For
As the initial symptoms of Dengue fever are mild, doctors and hospitals often treat the symptoms with medicines like paracetamol. By the time the dengue symptoms get severe, children, elderly and people with pre-existing ailments like asthma, heart problems, high blood pressure or diabetes are at very grave risk of death. Unfortunately, this is when tests are done. By which time complications may have arisen and the mortality rate rises rapidly.
Below are some alarming facts
The World Health Organization has estimated around 50 million to 100 million infections a year, out of which over 18,700 dengue cases reported in India
Of all the state and union territories, the maximum numbers of cases have been reported in Kerala with 9,104, followed by Tamil Nadu with 4,174 till 2 July 2017.
According to the figures provided by the ministry, Karnataka has reported 1,945 cases, Gujarat 616, Andhra Pradesh 606 and West Bengal 469, among other states, till 2 July2017.
In 2016 alone, close to 1.30 lakh cases and 245 Dengue related deaths were reported from across India, according to the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP)
Symptoms of Dengue
Many people, especially children and younger teenagers, may experience no signs or symptoms of dengue during a mild case of dengue fever. Even when the symptoms do occur, they usually begin 4 to 10 days after you are bitten by a Dengue mosquito. Since Dengue symptoms are often mistaken for influenza or mild flu, one must carefully note the clear signs of mild dengue fever, which commonly include:
One of the initial dengue Symptom is fever, and it can go as high as 106 F (41 C)
Another dengue symptom is severe headaches
Muscle pain and joint pain as well as pain behind the eyes get ignored dengue symptoms.
Getting nauseous and experiencing fatigue is also quite common.
Dengue rash is also very frequent in case of a dengue casualty.
In some extreme cases of dengue, symptoms worsen and can be life-threatening. Blood vessels become damaged and leaky while in some rare cases it has been observed that the number of platelets (clot-forming cells) in your bloodstream drop. This can cause:
Severe Bleeding from your nose and mouth
Persistent vomiting
Bleeding under the skin, which might look like bruising
All these type of problems can cause severe impairment of liver, heart or other organs leading to death
Some patients have been observed to go into trauma with changes in mental state due to dengue
Is Dengue deadly
Half a million patients are hospitalized each year, but most people recover after five to seven days. Some develop dengue haemorrhagic fever after the initial fever declines — a more severe form of the illness that can cause organ damage, severe bleeding, dehydration and even death. But with early and proper treatment, the mortality rate for all dengue fever is currently less than 1 of 100 people.
If the patients develop severe dengue, there will be bleeding spots on the skin and other parts of the body and leakage of blood plasma. Severe dengue fever can damage the lungs, liver or heart. Blood pressure can drop to dangerous levels, causing shock and in some cases death.
