 x-illusionary:
He let out a breath as a response, no denial nor agreement at the statement he made. He leaned into his touch, as he expected him to do, and Sam’s grip on his face only tightened for a moment before easing. What he would have of him, one way or another, didn’t seem to matter to the boy up till now. He thought it best not to make comments just yet. Instead, he let his attention linger on the boy for just a bit longer.
“ Maybe? “ He questioned, his free hand coming up tuck behind his head, giving him some sort of balance against the headboard. “ If I were to feed you, what would be your request? “ When the question was turned to him, he gave a shake of his head. “ I’ll rest when my body demands it. “ Sleep was such an odd requirement to him, when it came down to it. His species didn’t need it to survive, just to heal. To rebuild and regrow. But he slept from time to time out of comfort alone. His bed was a luxury, unnecessary in logic, but did he ever love it. His head canted, the expression on his face holding the slightest touch of amusement. “ Do you worry? “
Calix’s brow furrowed for a brief moment when Sam didn’t respond, wondering what was on the elemental’s mind but he was distracted from the thought at the question. There was nothing that immediately came to mind that he was craving and he shrugged lightly. “Anything with meat.” He was sure Sam hadn’t forgotten his food preferences, but the suggestion was left open to interpretation on purpose.
Of course sleep didn’t rule Sam the way it did most others and he was sure it was due to him being what he was. Fire never rested, it consumed. Still, Calix was concerned about the guard and his well-being. But he was sure that admitting to such would only serve to stroke Sam’s ego. “Maybe,” he said with a slight smirk. Already he was getting comfortable with the elemental again and pushing against that fine line he loved to cross just to see how the man reacted.

x-illusionary:
As much as she knew the opportunity at hand with this position – she was finding these people more and more unbearable. Barbaric. Archaic. Annoying. This shouldn’t have taken as long as it did, considering the pair came together. Were always together – Adrian was untouched by anyone but her, it was law. And yet, they still made her jump through hoops to make it legal by their stupid island standards. She’d been fussing over things – anything she could fuss over, she was fussing. But when she heard his voice, it calmed a bit of her. There was always a fear that something would go wrong, that she would be the cause of danger coming to him. It was a relief, a gift each time he walked through her door.
“ Here, “ she called back, but even as she spoke, she was moving from the back of the house up to where he stood. “ Coming. “ In her hand was a small box, black in color, velvet by touch. No bigger than her palm – the cause of another fight between her and other members of the council. Theia hadn’t realized she’d been hurrying through the house until she finally slowed down when she saw him, a smile lighting up her face. “ Hi baby. “ A sudden case of nerves came over her then, which was silly all things considered. But she didn’t enjoy knowing she would own another soul, let alone his. It felt wrong and perverted, but they left her with no choice. “ I’m sorry it took so long, but apparently my view isn’t shared by many. “ Coming up to him, she handed over the box, trying to keep the shake from both her hand and her voice.
Inside, he’d find a bracelet. Simple in its structure, sterling silver with little bits of aquamarine placed along the band. “ I refused to put you in a collar. “ Some things she would do for the sake of face, like purchasing Adrian, but forcing him to wear a collar was not one of those things. “ So they allowed this as a replacement after a bit of bickering. “
Adrian had started to move towards the sound of Theia’s voice when she answered him but he paused in the living room when she announced that she was coming to him. The wave of emotions coming off of his mermaid were mildly concerning as was the jumbled mess her thoughts seemed to be and his brow was furrowed with that concern when she finally appeared. Of course the sight of her helped to soothe a bit of the worry away and he smiled at the greeting. His attention was drawn to the box in her hand though as she began to speak, the words coming out a bit more rushed than was normal for her.
The velvet was soft and Adrian’s fingers trailed over the lid of the box for a moment after it was handed over, waiting until Theia had out what she wanted to say. The mention of a collar wasn’t exactly expected as he’d already assumed that was something that would never come. The fact hadn’t bothered him; it was simply the way his mermaid was. It was clear though the powers that be couldn’t be content with their bond as it was. Slowly, the lid was clicked open and his face warmed at the sight of the bracelet, his smile turning into a wide grin as he removed the silver from its bed. “No more apologies. It’s beautiful,” Adrian said as the bracelet was laid across his wrist, holding it up a bit to ask for her help in latching it.
He was well aware it wasn’t Theia’s way, she didn’t believe in owning another being, but he would have been lying if he said he wasn’t happy to know he was the exception to that. That his mermaid would push past that to keep the Council happy and make sure they could stay together. “It is just a piece of paper, minha rainha. It changes nothing between us beyond restoring the freedoms we used to have.” The words were Adrian’s attempts to ease her mind and her heart at what she’d done. The idea of claiming him might have not have been one she liked, but it did get him out of the Cellar and back in her bed permanently where he belonged and it ensured that he’d never endure any touch that wasn’t Theia’s.

x-illusionary:
She wasn’t here to actually shop. Elle wanted to see Dakota, and when she may not outright admit it – she could always blame her curiosity of the arts at play. The shop held many interesting things as it were, it wasn’t a hard thing to lie about. But she listened as he spoke with the customer at the counter, listened to the way his voice came out in the conversation. She found she enjoyed it, much like everything else about him at this point.
Trsiel continued up and down the isles, taking her time to slowly inspect each and every thing of interest on the shelves, but when he called out the question – his voice showing just how aware of her he was, she found herself stopping. Stopping and smiling at a little box on the shelf. “ Can you answer a question for me? “ She straightened a bit, stretched to look around to get a peek at him, and pointed toward the item. “ Come explain this to me? “
Dakota hadn’t realized just how much he’d missed the sound of Elle’s voice until she spoke. Not that it had more than a day or two since they’d seen one another, but that was hardly the point. The angel had opened his eyes to a whole new world in a sense and it was impossible not to want more right away. It seemed his body was way ahead of him on that. He didn’t exactly want to get up and give himself away even more than his voice already had, but the desire to be near the blonde--and to give her whatever she wanted--was stronger than the worry.
“Of course,” he answered as he shifted up from behind the counter. Dakota’s hand went down to adjust himself in hopes of hiding what was already becoming an issue or at the very least making it less noticeable, though it seemed to be a bit of a lost cause. Still, he made his way over to Elle, moving in between the shelves with a smile. Gods, she was even more intoxicating up close. The box in question was tugged down and slid open as he careful emptied the contents out into the palm of his other hand. It was a small clear orb, thing and fragile, made of blown glass. It was held up a bit for her to see, the slightest of shakes in his hand betraying him as he tried to show it off.
“It’s a spell orb. For spells that need to be prepared ahead of time or that will be used later or given to someone else. The energy, the words, everything except for the physical ingredients obviously get stored up inside and breaking the glass will release it whenever the time comes.” It wasn’t an item he’d ever used, but every witch and every type of magic was different. Even so, it was hard to keep his gaze on the small glass globe in his hand and even harder to keep his train of thought on the explanation.

Sam, on the other hand, didn’t sleep. Or hadn’t while Calix did. He sat content, his nose buried in the folders of new arrivals and those coming soon. He felt the shift at first, but his attention stayed where it had been. And then he felt the brush of the boy’s face against his stomach, that was when his attention dropped down from the file to his face. “ Needy, “ he said. But his voice was soft, not reprimanding in nature. Possibly amused if you listened close enough. A hand came down, a rough brush of his palm over the side of his face before he looked back at the file.
He wasn’t used to someone else in his bed, and while he didn’t prefer it most days, this was different. This was what his last few years were supposed to be like: a greedy boy in his bed, hungry for no one else but him. After another moment, he closed the file and stretched to let it fall atop the others on the table just next to them before settling back, that hand still cupping the boy’s face. “ How do you feel? “
Calix’s lips turned up into a bit of a smirk at the word and his head dipped down to nip lightly at Sam’s skin, face turning back up with the touch. He leaned into the guard’s hand without hesitation, acting every bit like the canine he was. "As if you would have me any other way,” he replied. He knew Sam loved him like that anyways, needy and greedy for more of him. Which was fine because it was exactly what he wanted to be, even if he tried to make it seem otherwise.
Lips turned up again when the elemental discarded the folder he’d been looking over in favor of giving him the attention and he considered the question for a moment, still soaking in the hand against his face. “Better,” Calix answered honestly. "Hungry maybe.” He wasn’t entirely sure of that statement or if what he was wanting was even food really, the slight haze of sleep still lingering on the edge of his consciousness. “You didn’t rest?”

She had just been about to give an answer when he asked another question, and what came out instead was a laugh as she tucked a bit of hair behind her ear. “ I haven’t been told I snore. “ She watched the path ahead of them, itching as she walked to get out into the wilderness. The closer they got, the cleaner the air around them seemed. The more she wanted to breathe. “ there are chunks of time where I’m unable to be purchased. Usually whenever the island is in trouble. My purpose stops being of pleasure, and starts being that of regrowth. “ She shrugged then, stretching to look out again. “ At least, that’s one of the reasons I’m told. I’m not certain what the reason is. “

Calix nodded at the answer thoughtfully, glancing back at Letta as they crossed over into the shade of the first few trees to gauge her reaction. Even he would admit that the cover and the closeness of the trees was helping him to feel more at ease. “That makes sense. Some of the Masters here can be very...single-minded when making a claim. Still, it’s a shame to keep you locked up. You would fair much better with the ability to roam free.” Perhaps it was his own horrible time in the Cellar or perhaps it was something else, but either way, he wasn’t the biggest fan of slavery and he saw no reason to pretend otherwise out here on their own where no important eyes or ears could pry into his opinions.

x-illusionary:
It wasn’t that she was a fan of the magical arts, per se. But more the boy who had turned out to be the face for it all. Her interest in him was beyond the basic fascination with his purity and had delved well into the realm of what made him, well, him. There was a desire there to see more of just the pleasure she loved causing. She wanted to see so much more of his life. Which was how she ended here at the shop where he both worked, and apprenticed. She found the idea funny, really. That she, an angel, had found her own personal obsession with that of a witch of all things. The leather clung to her legs like a second skin, black as her wings - which was a stark contrast to the white that covered her chest, wings tucked perfectly away, giving no hint they existed at all. If Elle was good at anything, it was keeping a stoic expression. Void of anything that could give away her thoughts, which was a prized trait in this very moment as she wondered the little shop of magic. She started along the furthest edge of the shelves, taking her time as she did her best to look at each and every thing they had. Her fingers touched, always gentle as she got a feel for thing. And every couple of minutes, her gaze would flick through items, around the corner - wherever necessary to catch a glimpse at the little witch. Her attention didn’t linger, it never did. A brief pass of a glance before all of her focus came back to the inventory the store held. @hiddenxtreasures
Working in a magic shop maybe wasn’t what Dakota had envisioned for his future exactly, but it definitely beat the alternative on the Island. And if he were to be honest, it wasn’t that bad and he did get to learn from someone quite gifted in return. All in all, it could have been worse and he was well aware. That didn’t mean it didn’t get a bit monotonous at times. Like now as he sat behind the counter once again explaining the uses of sage beyond the basic smudging. The little bell above the door announcing a new customer didn’t immediately grab his attention but once he glanced up to offer a greeting his train of thought promptly stalled out and evaporated completely. Elle.
The sight of the angel here in his little shop was unexpected to say the least, but she was gone, disappearing between the shelves before Dakota had the chance to speak. He shook his head, doing his best to refocus on the person in front of him but it was impossible to pick back up where he’d left off. Thankfully, the man seemed to be done with the interaction and walked away, leaving him to watch as Elle wandered through the shelves. It was impossible to miss the way the leather clung to her body and every single caress of her finger on an item drew his attention, a ghost of exactly what that touch felt like against his skin. It was definitely not the time or the place for it, but just the sight of her had stirred something in him, that same something that she’d first awakened. “Are you finding everything okay?” Dakota finally managed to call out, his voice betraying that he wasn’t as relaxed as he probably should have been.

tunnelvisionss:
She knew that he was trying to offer her some kind of comfort with his promises, but to Kellan they were empty. There was no one in the world that could make sure she would never fall back into the cellars, not even him. Unless she left the island, left it all behind in search of something that could turn out far better, or far worse. Being the realist that she was, she knew the treatment could have taken more from her than it did. The master who’d claimed her wasn’t kind, but there were far more terrifying monsters lurking the island.
“No one can promise that.” She finally protested, hard to hear over the sound of running water slapping the tile. Her arms however wound their way around him, letting the small satisfaction of the warmth he provided be enough. Bless his heart, he was trying and she knew it. But, always the pessimist, Kellan wasn’t about to give into the fairy tale he was trying to sell her. She sighed eventually. “I’m sorry, I told you..I probably should’ve been alone.”
“But I just did,” Luka countered, his arms tightening around her a bit more as her own wrapped around him. Of course he wasn’t unrealistic, he knew full and well that beyond leaving the Island there was no way to guarantee what he said short of Kellan becoming a Mistress herself, but that didn’t mean he was going to take it back. It also didn’t mean he wouldn’t do everything in his power to keep his word and keep her safe.
“Maybe you would have preferred to be alone, but it’s much too late for that.” His words didn’t just refer to the fact that they were standing together in his shower, but everything else they’d both been trying to ignore between them. Kellan being locked up had been that breaking point for him, the point in which he realized he couldn’t fight how he felt about her. Luka pressed a kiss to her hair. “You’re stuck with me now, kitten.”

Max melted into the way Ben pressed down into him, a rare moment of true submission from him. The demon was the only one to ever earn such and the claim he'd now laid to him only seemed to solidify his right to command it. Max wasn't much the type to believe in fate or that things happened for any sort of reason but just now in this moment and with the way Ben's fingers tangled in his hair...Well, there was a part of him that was convinced that every fucked up thing in his life had been preparing him, molding him to be exactly this shade of fucked up because it complimented the demon's own color so well.
Max's body shifted just so to bring himself closer to Ben, his hands reaching up to claim either side of the demon's face as he pushed to deepen the kiss. Moments later teeth were sinking into Ben's bottom lip and he tugged at it roughly, flesh dragging over sharp edges until the kiss was broken finally. "All yours now." Of course they both knew he'd belonged to the demon for a while now, but there was something about making it official that made it feel even better. Knowing he wouldn't have to put up with the guards' bullshit anymore, he wouldn't have to suffer through another hand that wasn't Ben's on his skin. The reality still hadn't settled in just yet.
