STARLIT TUNNEL
Ember, Blue, and Frost shelter in a cave in between their territories during a harsh leaf-bare
After days of being stuck together, they realized they did not have to be enemies and could leave each other in their individual areas
The ghost of their deceased friend, Starling, appears to them, inspiring that no cat has to die without knowing they were loved, prompting the creation of the Clans
The cave is named the Starry Cavern and is used for gatherings every full moon.

A COLD LEGACY
Rimestar (IC) desires to lead all three Clans. She plots to have kits and plant them in the other Clans, setting them up to become leaders. Once her kits were leaders and she revealed their parentage, they would then choose to be loyal to her and allow her to control their Clans. This plan involves killing the kits' father who knows too much and the deputies of the other two Clans.
Rimestar's kits, Tickbite, Kestrelcry, and Dovesong (who was discarded into the river for being 'unneeded for the plan') discover her plans and foils them. Dovesong kills Rimestar.
Tickstar, Kestrelstar, and newly named Sandystar try to enforce peace, but Rimestar's plans that led to accusations of murder left a divide between the Clans that affects their relations for many upcoming generations.

WHERE CORRUPTION BEGINS
After several seasons of war, Sparrowstar (FC), Reedstar (WC), and Dewstar (IC) decide to hold a special Gathering where all apprentices and kits attend with the goal of their generation being friendlier when they grow. This is called the Young Cats' Gathering.
The medicine cats Duskfur (FC), Honeycloud (WC), and Newtberry (IC) receive a message from the deceased medicine cat Whitebreeze, who warns that the kits of Willowdawn (FC), Creekfur (WC), and Echodawn (IC) should not attend the Young Cats' Gathering:
"From constant fear and endless battle, each Clan will raise a claw. If they are ever to meet, they will betray their law." They are also told to keep the message secret from their Clans as to not isolate the kits. This instruction baffles Duskfur, who believes a benevolent afterlife should never ask them to lie.
Despite the efforts of the medicine cats, Ashenkit (FC), Shadedkit (WC), and Berrykit (IC) still meet at the Young Cats' Gathering and quickly become friends. To keep their friendship, they decide to meet in secret every quarter-moon.
During one of these quarter-moon meetings, Ashenpaw, Shadedpaw, and Berrypaw are caught after a fox attacks them and tears off most of Berrypaw's tail.
Berrypaw, who had already been bullied by other IceClan apprentices, is cut off from his closest friends. The bullying only gets worse. He grows angrier and angrier, and eventually retaliates against his bullies, killing Spiderpaw, Twigpaw, and Stonepaw in secret.
Duskfur, who had told all of FireClan of the warning despite StarClan's instruction, believes the orphaned Acornfall who was taken in by Willowdawn as a kit would have the most reason to betray FireClan. He begins to poison Acornfall, but Ashenfur finds out and kills Duskfur instead. After Ashenfur returns from washing her paws, FireClan had come together to kill Acornfall after he was discovered alone in the medicine den with Duskfur's body.
Shadedpaw's littermate, Sunpaw, dies from an accident at the river. She contemplates the Clans' relationship to StarClan when their Clan continues to battle and face the possibility of war with other Clans. When WaterClan learns of her secret meetings with her friends, they forbid any continued interaction with them. Losing faith in StarClan's priorities, Shadedleaf denounces them publicly. She eventually leaves WaterClan and joins Ashenfur in FireClan.
Ashenfur and Shadedleaf plot against Sparrowstar and decide to kill him one life at a time. They are discovered by the deputy, Dustybreeze, and are exiled. Before word of their treachery can reach the rest of the Clans, they join WaterClan, where they kill both Reedstar and his deputy. In the chaos, they take over the Clan and decide to show how easy it is to wage war with these Clans.
They invite Berrytail to join them, finally a place where the three can be friends. Berrytail now has kits, so he tries to bring them with. His mate, Cloudshine, confronts him about taking her kits away. Berrytail reveals he is leaving, and eventually lets it slip that he was the one who killed Spiderpaw, Stonepaw, and Twigpaw. Cloudshine kills him after this difficult truth and takes her kits back to IceClan.
In the grief of Ashenfur and Shadedleaf, Shadedleaf decides to cheer up Ashenfur by appealing to her grudge against medicine cats. She kills the medicine cats of every Clan: Hazelshine (FC), Honeycloud (WC), and Newtberry (IC). Once she tells Ashenfur, Ashenfur is disgusted, as Hazelshine was her sister. Ashenfur leaves, and Shadedleaf is killed in her solitude.
Ashenfur is killed when she tries to rejoin FireClan.
WHERE REDEMPTION BEGINS
Ashenfur, Shadedleaf, and Berrytail have died, but not without consequences. The Clans are left with no medicine cats and WaterClan has no leader or deputy.
WaterClan decides to elect new leaders. Between Blackstream, Coldshadow, and Creekfur, Creekfur is chosen and named Creekstar.
Dewstar (IC) sees Ashenfur, Shadedleaf, and Berrytail as an error on the Clans' part. She steps down to allow for a new age in IceClan, her deputy Finchdust being named Finchstar.
Dustystar (FC) keeps losing cats to simple skirmishes in the absence of a medicine cat. She decides that, without a medicine cat, the best move would be to prevent these simple skirmishes from happening in the first place. Finchstar agrees, determining that it is up to everyone to change the Clans for the better. The Young Cats' Gathering failed because all the effort was placed on younger cats who did not have the control to ease Clan tensions. Clan leaders make a solemn promise not to battle at their Clan borders for a moon at first, work to share herbs and knowledge during a greencough outbreak, and more measures to work toward peace between their Clans.
Breezefang (FC), brother of Ashenfur and Hazelshine, becomes a medicine cat to honour Hazelshine. Ryekit (WC), later Ryeheart, is interested in herbs and becomes WaterClan's newest medicine cat. Stonekit (IC), later Stonestep, son of Berrytail and Cloudshine, gains an interest in communicating with StarClan and helping IceClan, so he becomes IceClan's medicine cat.

MOONLIT GIFT
Misty, a kittypet, has come to terms with the fact that her future kits (Stormy and Haze) will be taken away from her. However, she wishes to have a way to know how they are doing while they are away. She climbs the local legend of the hill where one can dream of their future, and asks StarClan for help. (This hill is Moonhill, where medicine cats meet every half moon)
StarClan sees an opportunity that will not come into play until much later. They give Misty the ability to overhear and see StarClan in her dreams, a gift that will be passed on to her kits, and perhaps some of their kits.
Unknown amount of time passes
DUSKFUR'S TUNNEL
Duskfur had rejected StarClan upon death because of their apparent hypocrisy. After spending so long in the Dark Forest, Duskfur no longer desires to share an afterlife with his killer, Ashenfur. Using his abilities as a cat who was accepted into StarClan and had a strong connection to them in life, Duskfur creates a one-way tunnel to the living world and resides there, watching over future generations of FireClan medicine cats.
Ashenfur, Shadedleaf, and Berrytail witness the tunnel's creation and plot to use it as an opportunity to torment the living Clans and create pain that lasts them generations.

THE LOST APPRENTICES
A group of rogues decide to hide in Starry Cavern. After a young member of theirs dies and they witness a Gathering where a StarClan cat appears, they decide to gather information from Clan cats on how they can see their deceased friend again. Warriors always engage in battle when approached, so they decide to question younger Clan cats who they could beat in a battle. After seeing that apprentices also have knowledge for battling and hunting, the rogues kidnap more and more apprentices. They kidnap Lilypaw, Hailpaw, Jaypaw (WC), Blazepaw, Fogpaw (FC), Mintpaw (IC).
Streamshine and Ripplerush (WC) are determined to find their missing kits Lilypaw, Hailpaw, and Jaypaw. In an attempt to rescue them, they are attacked by Blazepaw and Fogpaw, who were attempting to escape and mistook the two for rogues, and the two parents are knocked into the river and found dead by WaterClan, who discover FireClan scent on their wounds.
Brightpaw and Squirrelpaw (FC) try to find Blazepaw and Fogpaw on their own. They end up in Twolegplace and get separated. Brightpaw gets help from a kittypet called Lightning and meets Stormy, who tells her a message she heard in a dream:
"Ghost, grief, betrayal. The three of you will stop them, where light shifts from one end to the other."
Ghost = Skypaw, Grief = Lilypaw, Betrayal = Brightpaw. The Starry Cavern has an overhead tunnel where moonlight filters in, moving from one end of the cave to the other.
Stormy and her rogue mate Mint help Brightpaw and Squirrelpaw reunite. The two head back home, Brightpaw pondering the message and remembering Lightning.
Skypaw, Mousepaw, Fishpaw, Cedarpaw, Snailpaw, and Sweetpaw (IC) all work together and are the closest of friends. After Mintpaw is missing and their Clanmates are acting strangely, Skypaw gets them to investigate and discover the rogues who are kidnapping apprentices.
Skypaw's kittypet friends who live in a cabin on the territory, Spark and Dawn, try joining IceClan. When Spark is killed in a battle, Dawn denies any further invitation to the Clan.
Lilypaw, his brothers, Blazepaw, Fogpaw, and Mintpaw are still trapped by the rogues. Grief for his parents overwhelms Lilypaw, but he finds the courage to inspire the kidnapped apprentices to trick the rogues and plan a possible escape together.
Skypaw begins being encouraged by the voice of one called Ashenfur, a cat she's never heard of before. Ashenfur doesn't allow Spark's death to resolve in her mind, inspiring Skypaw's grief to escalate into rage. Skypaw tries to begin a battle against FireClan, but runs into Brightpaw who tells Skypaw that she believes she is meant to find the missing apprentices. Skypaw realizes that Brightpaw has her priorities straight, and decides to work with her. At this point, she doesn't hear Ashenfur again. She has her apprentice friends join and Brightpaw has Squirrelpaw join her as they solve where the rogues are hiding and battle the rogues, allowing the apprentices to escape, which was made easier by Lilypaw's plans.
As a warrior, Brightpath leaves to find Lightning again, knowing she is betraying her Clan. After finding him, the two spend a few days together. Brightpath is convinced she never wants to return home, until Mint shows up hostile and demands to join the Clans and learn where they are. Brightpath refuses, remembering the last time rogues interfered with the Clans. She decides to go home. She encounters Stormy again, who tells her:
"You bring future lives borne of your crime. They will be the ones paying for it. Destinies that are hurt, lost, and misguided."
Brightpath returns to FireClan, a few moons later giving birth to Maplekit and Rowankit. She leaves once more to meet with Lightning, giving him Rowankit. Brightpath tells Lightning that she doesn't think FireClan would ever accept him as a warrior. Lightning reveals that Mint has been harassing him regularly about where the Clans are, and Brightpath chooses not to tell him. She does, eventually, meet with him again when Maplepaw is an apprentice. Brightpath realizes, with the vast difference between Rowan and Maplepaw, that she cannot keep her kits halfway between lives like this. She decides never to meet with Lightning again.
Brightpath, Lilycloud, and Skyheart eventually become the leaders of their Clans, Brightstar, Lilystar, and Skystar.

THE LOST DESTINIES
Taking Flight
Ashenfur contacts Skystar again, revealing to her about Brightstar's betrayal. She encourages rage in Skystar and controls her to drive FireClan out of the forest. In the midnight ambush, five FireClan cats are killed: Brackencloud, Bramblethorn, Goldenshine, Birchpaw, and Brightstar's final life.
Robinpaw (FC) was fishing with Puddlepaw (WC) this night, and after saving him from drowning, Puddlepaw is dragged along into FireClan's exile. Newly named Maplestar (daughter and deputy to Brightstar) is hesitant to let him return to WaterClan in case he tells them of their location. FireClan apprentices hold a secret mission to return Puddlepaw to WaterClan.
FireClan spends a moon or so in exile, with their new home being between Moonhill and Twolegplace. IceClan sets up two camps to accommodate for the new territory.
Shadowpaw (IC) believes the battle to be unjust, especially after a conversation with Ravenpaw (FC) during the battle. He inspires rebellion in the IceClan cats and, after Skystar kills Mossfrost and injures Shadowpaw, IceClan kills her not knowing she was being controlled by a Dark Forest cat.
Maplestar is made aware of a fire in Twolegplace. She brings her kits Crowpaw, Ravenpaw, and Robinpaw to investigate, as she wants to make sure Lightning and Rowan are safe. She introduces her kits to them as Lightning dies, asking for Rowan to join the Clans. Rowan rejects this and Maplestar and her kits return to FireClan disheartened.
Robinpaw wants to distract and cheer everyone up, insisting that they take back their territory. FireClan returns, finding the territory empty and taking their place back in their rightful territory.
Skystar's StarClan spirit being seen at the gathering shocks the IceClan cats. They deliver a prophecy, explaining a Dark Forest cat had been in control:
"Three will see through the masks of today into the past. They will determine the fate of the Clans. There will be a battle by the river for the ones who cause shivers, a battle at the gathering for the swimming, and a scarring fire that will end badly, but it is all for peace. Peace that will last... Remember the names Ashenfur, Berrytail, and Shadedleaf, three Dark Forest spirits that have corrupted your world. If you don't learn, history will repeat itself."
Red Rivers
Puddlepaw receives a dream from his deceased littermate, Creekkit, telling him to start an apprentice-only gathering. Puddlepaw sets it up, inviting the apprentices of every Clan to go to Moonhill in a few nights.
Rowan joins the Clan with her mate Oliver and their kits, insisting they wanted a home where they could stay with their kits. They receive apprentice names (Rowanpaw and Olivepaw), but reject the invitation to the Apprentice Gathering. Instead, they reveal the secret gathering to other Clans the night it occurs.
The apprentices split into small groups to make friends and figure out why StarClan called for the Apprentice Gathering.
One group runs into Mint, who continues his hostile behaviour after learning Lightning had died.
Another group runs into a group of foxes and get attacked. Warriors, informed by Rowanpaw and Olivepaw, come to the rescue, but Jayfur (WC) is killed by the foxes.
Jayfur is seemingly revived the next morning, after Puddlepaw had a dream of him in StarClan. The revived Jayfur attacks the medicine cat apprentice Fernpaw (WC) and disappears.
Shadowpaw and Petalpaw (littermates of IC) are being disciplined by their mother, Berryflower. After Petalpaw stands up for herself, Berryflower flees and is killed by Jayfur. Shadowpaw and Petalpaw work together to kill Berrytail, who had revealed his identity and motivations. Shadowdusk and Petaldawn are granted their warrior names.
Corrupted Thoughts
Ravenpaw and Patchpaw (FC) discover that Olivepaw is conspiring with rogues (his father Mint and sister Kelly) to bargain the Clan's catmint for prey. Ravenpaw and Patchpaw reveal Olivepaw's involvement. Olivepaw returns to FireClan camp to see Rowanpaw had died to greencough.
Ashenfur, pretending to be Dustystar, contacts Ravenpaw and instills arrogance. Shadedleaf, pretending to be Creekstar, contacts Fernpaw and instills paranoia.
For the next gathering, Ashenfur tells Ravenpaw to bring together the three cats who see corrupted cats' eyes as red: Robinpaw, Fernpaw, and Petaldawn.
After Mint and Kelly attacked Puddlepaw, Fernpaw, and Skythorn (WC), they are killed by Skythorn at this gathering. At this gathering, the spirits of Rowan, Jayfur, and Berryflower appear to the Clans:
"The Clans have succeeded in getting rid of Berrytail, but two more Dark Forest cats remain. Ashenfur and Shadedleaf are corrupting cats as we speak. Both these cats aren't aware of the danger inside their heads, and one of them will be punished too harshly for it. We now know how to get rid of the Dark Forest cats. The Dark Forest cats manipulate you into thinking you know what you want. They will lead you down the wrong path. You have to ignore all morals and manners you've known, and do what you want."
Fernpaw, in the midst of being corrupted, is unable to save Primrosepaw (WC) from choking on herbs.
At Ravenpaw's meeting for cats who 'see through the masks,' Fernpaw finds she cannot continue to happily be a medicine cat, and this realization expels Shadedleaf from her mind. Shadedleaf flees, but they have learned about how to remove Dark Forest cats from their minds.
Icy Chills
Petaldawn is taken by twolegs and ends up on a quest to find her way back. She meets Stormy, who tells her two Dark Forest cats remain, so two cats are corrupted, and the scarring fire will determine their destinies.
Newly named Ravenwing finds herself frequently in moments where she lacks control. Her suspicions of 'Dustystar' grow, and she comes to believe she is corrupted, especially when she is made to kill Oakshade (FC) and told how to hide it.
Fernpaw trains as a warrior's apprentice. Puddlepaw earns his warrior name, Puddlestep.
Petaldawn returns to IceClan, bringing the kittypets Midnight and Clouds to become warriors. A message at Moonhill tells her to meet with Ravenwing and Shadowdusk on the border between FireClan and IceClan.
Ravenwing meets with Shadowdusk, who wanted to get to know her better. Instead, Ravenwing plans to expel Ashenfur and get Shadowdusk's help to fight her. Ravenwing describes the experience of being fully corrupted: when at a loss with one's emotions, the Dark Forest cat lingering in their mind can take full control. Ravenwing's plan does not unfold as expected, and Ashenfur ends up sending Ravenwing into the river before Ravenwing realizes she doesn't want to be jealous of her sister Robinheart. Ashenfur escapes, and Ravenwing drowns. The entirety of FireClan is made aware of the event, and Ravenwing's body is retrieved.
Falling Stars
At a gathering, StarClan tells the Clans a vague message:
"More cats will die because of the Dark Forest cats, but we mustn't lose hope. There will be remaining scars, but other than that, the fire will leave no ashes."
Midnight and Clouds become official IceClan apprentices, Duskpaw and Snowpaw.
In her grief, Robinheart confides in Puddlestep. The two decide to meet regularly to discuss their grief of deceased littermates and the prophecy.
Medicine cat Sunblaze (FC) leaves on a quest to find a cure for her mentor Deerpelt (FC), who has redcough. The directions to find the herb were not sent by StarClan, but by Duskfur, who was infuriated that StarClan hadn't done anything. Sunblaze grows to trust Duskfur, despite his aversion to StarClan. When she returns with the herb, she is too late, as Deerpelt had already died. Duskfur disappears.
Lilystar and his deputy, Hailfeather (WC), have both died from illness. In the absence of both leader and deputy, the Clan decides to wait for a sign from StarClan. Daisyfeather (WC), their medicine cat, sees a deer and a wasp from across the river, so she determines that the choice is between Waspstripe (WC) and Fawnfoot (WC). The Clan elects Waspstripe into Waspstar, who picks Fawnfoot as his deputy.
Currentrush (WC) is corrupted by Shadedleaf. She pushes his grief for his friend Primrosepaw, enough to make him want revenge on Fernshine. Fernshine is lured to the Starry Cavern, followed by Puddlestep and Skythorn. Currentrush begins his attack, but eventually admits his true desire for wanting to grieve peacefully and not blame Fernshine. Shadedleaf is pushed out of his mind, and is killed by Skythorn.
Leafshine (IC), medicine cat, becomes corrupted by Ashenfur, who feeds into Leafshine's feelings of inadequacy as a mentor. Corrupted, Leafshine is controlled into poisoning Shadowdusk. This is discovered by Leafshine's apprentice, Swiftpaw (IC). Leafshine reveals her true feelings, and Ashenfur is expelled. She flees into FireClan territory after taking one of Shadowstar's lives. Leafshine is relieved of her apprentice, but Leafshine feels guilty for robbing Swiftpaw of her path as a medicine cat. Leafshine lies, saying StarClan have predicted her death soon, and have asked her to keep Swiftpaw as an apprentice.
In her lost faith, Maplestar refuses to attend a gathering, so her deputy Snowshade leads the Clan to the gathering instead.
Burning Embers
At the same gathering, StarClan cats Brightstar, Lilystar, and Skystar appear and warn each Clan individually:
"WaterClan, I led you well. Do not let that go to waste. Do not betray your loved ones-stay and fight! FireClan, be wary of the fire that burns in our very name. Some of us hide secrets we can’t bear, but secrets are nothing compared to death. IceClan, you’re all doing very well, but remember, your Clan isn’t the only one in need of protecting. Ashenfur is very smart. I don’t imagine she’ll give herself away. She’ll take advantage of the fire, just you wait. You are three Clans. Clans. You are the same, but in different places. Protect each other when the fire attacks."
Shadowdusk receives a dream from Ravenwing:
“FireClan is going to live up to its name, and burn up in flames. You’ll live up to your reputation as a heroic cat, Shadowdusk. It is up to you to go to FireClan and save the water. After that, allow the new flames to follow you back home.”
Robinheart and Puddlestep's meetings have grown into a forbidden romance, but in light of StarClan's warning, they decide to break it off for good. Skythorn sees Puddlestep returning from his meeting and demands he tell Fernshine, his mate, everything within a few moons or she will. Puddlestep finds himself delaying this on and on, certain that sharing this secret would only hurt Fernshine. He ends up only telling half a truth, making Skythorn angrier at him and revealing everything to the entire Clan. Puddlestep is exiled.
Robinheart, within these moons, grows closer with her Clanmate Patchfur (FC). She ends up having kits, a huge litter as a result of superfecundation. It is clear from their pelts that some are the kits of Patchfur, and others Puddlestep. Most of the kits are stillborn, the only survivors being Foxkit, Pebblekit, and Sparrowkit.
As the fire begins, Robinheart hears Ashenfur in her mind. Corrupting Robinheart, Ashenfur separates her and her kits from her Clan, deciding to kill Sparrowkit with Robinheart's own claws. Patchfur follows Robinheart's path through the flames. Robinheart realizes she wants her family to be with Patchfur, not Puddlestep, and Ashenfur is expelled. Robinheart and Patchfur work together to fight Ashenfur, pushing her down a ledge into a flaming fury.
Exiled, Puddlestep sees smoke and goes to FireClan to help Robinheart in the fire. He ends up trapped, looking up a ledge to see Robinheart's surviving kits, Foxkit and Pebblekit. Seeing Foxkit, Puddlestep realizes Patchfur is the cat Robinheart truly loves. As he burns, Ashenfur's spirit hides in his mind, clinging on to whatever life she can find.
Shadowdusk brings a ball of wet moss to create a path through the fire. He finds Puddlestep lying motionless and cannot save him. He sees Robinheart, Patchfur, and their kits trapped, and offers to help them back through his trail.
After Robinheart, Patchfur, Foxkit, and Pebblekit spend a few days with IceClan, they reunite with FireClan, who have retreated to their old camp by Moonhill to recover. With the reunion of Robinheart, Patchfur, and two of their kits, the fire has killed Ambermist, Stormfall, Snowshade, and Sparrowkit.
Creekkit is sent from StarClan to retrieve Puddlestep, but cannot wake him up. He fears Puddlestep, who is on the edge of life, has woken up in the Dark Forest somehow. He breaks StarClan rules by giving Puddlestep a life. Lives given outside of these ceremonies are rumoured to be cursed with dread and misery. Unfortunately, granting Puddlestep this life also revives Ashenfur. When Puddlestep wakes up, he leaves the valley, tormented by Ashenfur, who emphasizes his guilt over his mistakes.

ASHES AND SPARKS
Familiar Eyes
Rogues are causing trouble on the outskirts of IceClan territory. One rogue rescues Mothpaw (WC) from drowning. IceClan has a confrontation with these rogues.
Pebblepaw (FC) is woken up by Puddlestep in the middle of the night and is offered to go live with him. She accepts, leaving her Clan. The next day's rain leaves the Clan's search parties empty pawed.
The younger medicine cat from each Clan is given a fragment of a message. Marshpaw (WC) in particular saw a meeting at Moonhill. Brightstar, Lilystar, and Skystar appear at a gathering to reveal that the prophecy is unfinished:
"That peace will last unless you fall victim to your own faults. You all need to learn cooperation because, to be honest, you aren’t cooperating as well as we had hoped. If your roots aren’t planted deep in the ground, the wind will uproot them and blow them away. You all think the storm is bad? It is only brewing. Here is the complete prophecy: The fire brings ashes of old problems and sparks of new ones. What is missing will be found if history is repeated again. Bonds will break, cats will die, and rogues will rule. The rogues are warriors. The warriors are rogues. If you fail to find what is missing, you will fall. All of you. There is no excuse for failure.”
The Clans decide to hold a Second Apprentices' Gathering. To prevent tragedy, the warriors who attended the previous Apprentices' Gathering accompany them. At the Apprentices' Gathering, Foxpaw (FC) leaves on his own in an attempt to find Pebblepaw, and the rest of the apprentices split up to either find him or stay at Moonhill. The warriors get into an argument about Puddlestep's punishment. The apprentices at Moonhill decide to sleep and visit StarClan early, and StarClan berates them for their lack of cooperation, telling them they've failed the task.
When the IceClan cats return home, Palepaw (IC) is missing.
The Rogue Apprentice
Mothpaw (WC) regularly visits with the rogues on the outskirts of IceClan territory. Staying up all night causes him to fall behind in training, so Mothpaw is assigned a different mentor, Midnightbreeze, instead of Currentrush.
Redpaw, Nightpaw, and Mosspaw (IC) are sent to see if missing Palepaw is among the rogues. Redpaw sees her but lies that she isn't there after seeing how happy she is.
Redpaw later visits the rogues in the night to question her privately. Palepaw and the rest of the rogues offer to let him visit regularly, as it's a place where the expectations of a Clan cat aren't pressured onto him. He accidentally lets it slip that IceClan is preparing to battle them.
A skirmish with the rogues kills the deputy Oakleaf (IC). Shadowdusk is offered the position, but he rejects it on the basis that he hasn't finished training his apprentice. Fallenrain is promoted instead.
Redpaw tells Shadowstar about his lie and that the rogues know to expect a battle from them because of his visit. Shadowstar prepares to trick the rogues with Redpaw's trust in light of the knowledge that they have Palepaw, though he tells Redpaw that it will be a peaceful resolution.
Puddlestep gives Pebblepaw a warriors' name, Pebblefern. Pebblefern recognizes that Puddlestep needs help from his real Clanmates.
Broken Wings
Petaldawn receives a message from Berryflower of StarClan:
“When we think the ashes are gone, sparks come flying. She’s back, and she’s angry, and we don’t know how.”
Petaldawn realizes this is about Ashenfur. She embarks on a quest to find Stormy, needing her to dream into the Dark Forest to look for Ashenfur.
Ravenwing in StarClan, who has been demanding a bigger role in the prophecy, is sent to guide the medicine cat Ravenpond (FC) and have a proper goodbye to her Clanmates after all this time. Ravenpond uses this connection to comfort Clanmates.
Fernshine tells her kits the truth about everything that happened to Puddlestep.
Foxfur encounters Pebblefern, who tells him she is safe and happy. After she leaves, Foxfur is convinced she's lying. He tries to show Ravenpond where he saw her, but stumbles into a rogue called Birch. In his rage, Foxfur mercilessly kills the rogue, scaring Ravenpond before she begins to hear the voice of Ravenwing.
Redpaw leads the IceClan battle patrol, believing it to be a negotiation session. It is revealed to be an ambush, and a battle takes place that kills Mosswing. Palepaw, who has named herself Palefrost, insults the Clans at the death of her brother. Stag, leader of the rogues, belittles the Clans and denounces their code. He is corrupted by Ashenfur, unknown to the Clans at this point.
Marshpelt brings Mothpaw and Thrushpaw together to unite the brothers under a common goal to solve the prophecy. The three of them decide they could find a new home for the rogues. They bring Stag to a gathering, where he reveals he wants to lead his own Clan called HazeClan, and it is decided Stag will have medicine cat apprentices accompany him to receive StarClan's approval.
During the trip to Moonhill, the medicine cat apprentices see nothing in their dream. When they wake up, Stag has lured foxes to attack them in their sleep, making it appear as an accident. When Ravenpond wakes up, Ravenwing is no longer in her mind.
Frigid Season
Ravenwing is sent by StarClan to contact Petaldawn and encourage her quest further. During Petaldawn's quest, Stormy dreams into the Dark Forest and never wakes up. Petaldawn is horrified.
Puddlestep reveals to Pebblefern that Ashenfur still lingers in the Clans, and believes it to be his fault. He thinks that Ashenfur forced him to stay alive during the fire, as he has no other explanation for how he survived.
After hearing the events of the medicine cat apprentice meeting, Waspstar decides to plan a full-out attack on the rogues during the leaf-bare. Marshpelt and Mothpaw protest, so Waspstar decides to give the rogues an ultimatum to leave within a short period of time, or else WaterClan will battle. Mothpaw meets with the rogues to tell them of Waspstar's ultimatum.
Ravenpond pretends to still have her connection to Ravenwing. She uses this lie to comfort Clanmates and dissuade Foxfur from going through with his plan to attack Pebblefern's captor. When Ravenpond gets sick with whitecough, Foxfur worries for her, but still plans to attack Pebblefern's captor and scouts the area where she resides outside the valley.
Lightningheart (FC), granddaughter of Stormy who dreams of StarClan, sees Ravenwing among them and realizes Ravenpond is lying. She confronts the ill medicine cat, revealing her lie to Foxfur, who leaves them. Foxfur plans to find Pebblefern and kill her captor right then, but is distracted by a clump of catmint. He picks it and brings it to help heal Ravenpond before talking with her about the lie.
Pebblefern meets Burr, the brother of Birch, the rogue killed by Foxfur. Burr clearly distrusts the Clans, but grows a fondness for Pebblefern.
Marshpelt tells the family of Rosefall (WC) that she is too sick and will likely not survive for very long. Mothdust, her brother, takes her stargazing and eases her fears of dying. He allows her to talk about her own feelings rather than keeping everyone's in, as she usually does. In the morning, she is dying. Her whole family manages to stay beside her except for Thrushflight, who is insistent that she can't die because of his interpretation of the prophecy.
Redpaw questions Stag's motives, coming to the conclusion that the rogue is just using him and Palefrost to learn about the Clans, his enemies. Redpaw is filled with anger and finds support in his sister, Nightpaw.
Stag meets with Waspstar about the ultimatum, and Waspstar learns that Mothpaw revealed the plan to the enemy. Stag also reveals that he was corrupted by Ashenfur before she left him after a realization that came to him. This is all brought up at the gathering, which Stag is allowed to attend. After an argument, Waspstar declares that WaterClan will battle the rogues in two days.
At the next gathering, Foxfur recruits Redpaw and Nightpaw for his attack, which will take place at dawn. When they go, Foxfur recognizes Pebblefern's captor as Puddlestep and breaks down, conflicted that he killed a cat to get this far and still come back empty-pawed. Redpaw and Nightpaw return to IceClan, sure that this isn't their business. Pebblefern argues with Foxfur, crushed that her own brother refused to trust her. Foxfur reveals information about the upcoming WaterClan battle before returning to FireClan. Pebblefern and Puddlestep decide that they will join WaterClan.
Duskfur's spirit disapproves of Ravenpond's blatant dishonesty. He appears to her in a dream to sever her connection to StarClan forever.
Code of Rogues
Pebblefern and Puddlestep go to Moonhill on the way to WaterClan. Creekkit, Puddlestep's deceased brother, reveals that Ashenfur did not keep Puddlestep alive, but rather Creekkit gave him an illegal life. He apologizes that he cursed his brother to misery, but Puddlestep is grateful for the second chance to make amends with his family.
Petaldawn returns from her quest, stopping at Moonhill and greeting Puddlestep and Pebblefern. She reveals that Stormy is dead and demands more help from StarClan. StarClan agrees to send a connection to a non-medicine cat from each Clan to help interrogate and weed out the corrupted cat. The message is spread among the Clans.
Pebblefern stops by FireClan camp before continuing to WaterClan, officially saying goodbye to her former Clanmates. Foxfur, still determined to live with his sister, decides to leave for WaterClan as well.
Sunblaze claims to have a Connection to Duskfur and completely trusts him, despite knowing how he's hurt Ravenpond. Sunblaze shares some crucial information that Duskfur has: that the Dark Forest cats were able to escape the Dark Forest through a tunnel he made, which could still be open at this moment. This means that there is nothing stopping more Dark Forest cats from finding his tunnel and tormenting the living.
Lightningheart has a Connection to Ravenwing. Ravenpond feels useless and grows uneasy and angry. Raccoonshade (FC) makes a plan to help her sister Ravenpond by going on a trek to Moonhill. Maplestar denies the request for the mission, so Ravenpond and Raccoonshade sneak out. Ravenpond is unable to dream of their warrior ancestors, but Raccoonshade is. Ravenpond becomes corrupted by Ashenfur, who does not warn Raccoonshade of an incoming monster, allowing her to be struck and killed by it.
The battle between WaterClan and the rogues occurs.
Mothdust leaves WaterClan to look after the rogues' kits while their parents fight, deciding to join the rogues. Thrushflight feels he has let down his entire family, and decides to try to stop the battle to appeal to Mothdust to get him to return.
Petaldawn wants to spread the message of StarClan's aid to WaterClan, but is disappointed to see the battle has already begun. Newly named Redgaze decides to stop the battle by killing Stag, as he believes killing the villain will be heroic. When he has the perfect opportunity, he can't do it and believes his story of being corrupted by Ashenfur. Instead of his original plan, Redgaze works to stop the battle.
During the battle, Thrushflight realizes the medicine cats are missing. Waspstar, corrupted by Ashenfur, is threatening them. Thrushflight tries to save them, but ends up in danger, as well. In the distance, Thrushflight can see Puddlestep, though he doesn't know who he is yet. Puddlestep surprises Waspstar and gets him to think on what he really wants. By admitting that he is afraid of what outsiders will do to his Clan, Ashenfur is pushed away. Ashenfur flees. Puddlestep is allowed to rejoin WaterClan, though Thrushflight tries to stop him to save Fernshine's feelings. Skythorn convinces Thrushflight that it isn't his decision.
After the battle is officially stopped, Redgaze checks on both WaterClan and the rogues, staying the night with the rogues.
A WaterClan patrol is sent to retrieve Mothdust from the rogues. Mothdust and Redgaze talk about home and belonging, and Mothdust ultimately decides to return to WaterClan. Sleet joins him when the patrol arrives.
Smoke Valley
A search party is sent to WaterClan and the rogues for Redgaze the morning after the battle. They realize they just missed him, and return to camp to see Redgaze has returned. Shadowdusk has a heart to heart with his son, admitting to his mistakes and praising Redgaze for his courage and defining his own loyalty.
Waspstar has the new members of WaterClan make a solemn vow of loyalty. Mothdust, Sleet, Puddlestep, Pebblefern, and Foxfur make this vow.
Storm of the rogues, Sleet's brother, plans to make Sleet return to them by damaging relations between rogues and Clan cats even further. He pretends to join IceClan and, during his naming ceremony, attacks Shadowstar and takes one of his lives before fleeing back to the rogues.
The Clans determine once and for all to solve the issue of the rogues. A new message from StarClan inspires their choice: "When dusk falls, follow the smoke to resolution." Stag still wants to lead his own Clan called HazeClan, but recognizes that it would be impossible for the other Clans to accommodate territory for another Clan. They decide to go with an old idea at Thrushflight's prompt, to send a patrol beyond Clan territories to find the Clans a new home.
Robinheart, Featherlight, Tigertail (FC), Thrushflight, Pebblefern, Willowfrost (WC), Stonepelt, Hawkgaze, Nightsky (IC), Elk, Oaken, Pearl (rogues) are picked for the trip.
The Quest for HazeClan is gone for almost a moon. No place seems right except for the barn, which burns down after they try staying in it overnight. The next day, at dusk, Thrushflight and Pebblefern witness the smoke settling over the valley. The patrol determines that this means the rogues' fate lies within the valley, not outside it.
The Connections to StarClan are Lightningheart with Ravenwing, Poppypaw (WC) with Rosefall, and Palefrost with Mosswing. The Connections, while meant to weed out corrupted cats, helps strengthen relations within the Clans by getting cats to discuss their issues with each other.
Lightningheart interrogates the FireClan cats, uneasy at Ravenpond's clearly poorly-managed grief. Poppypaw interrogates WaterClan, determining that none of them are corrupted. Palefrost hesitantly interrogates IceClan, which helps her make amends with the family she left behind and even with Mosswing.
Foxfur cannot manage to fit in with WaterClan the way Pebblefern and the newly named Sleetfall do. Currentrush talks to him about focusing so much on the past, and allowing for a future that may not have the cats they expected in it. Foxfur takes the advice to heart and decides to return to FireClan.
Dusktail (IC, formerly Midnight) does not believe his name fits him. He asks Shadowstar for a new name, one that he picks that he believes to represent himself better. He picks the prefix Smoke-, and Shadowstar renames him to Smokesky.
Revealed at the previous gathering was Leafshine's lie. Sunblaze, corrupted by Duskfur, kills her. This leads IceClan to suspect FireClan to be home to the corrupted cat.
Ravenpond confronts Sunblaze, accusing Duskfur of being responsible for the murder of Leafshine. Ravenpond admits to Ashenfur being in her mind and being complicit to it, fully believing that she can help Ashenfur by listening to her and stopping her from being evil anymore. Sunblaze reminds Ravenpond of everything Ashenfur has done and how she doesn't have any remorse for it. Sunblaze, corrupted by Duskfur, and Ravenpond, corrupted by Ashenfur, engage in battle. Sunblaze realizes she wants Ravenpond to heal, not just to progress the prophecy, but because she cares about the wellbeing of her friend and apprentice. Duskfur is expelled, and Sunblaze works with Ashenfur to kill Duskfur, realizing the fury he fed her. Ashenfur allows Ravenpond to regain control, but Ravenpond is treated like a prisoner by the rest of FireClan. Lightningheart is assigned to keep watch over her.
When Foxfur returns to FireClan, he is sure to look after Ravenpond and help her. By listening to her the way she always listened to him, Ravenpond realizes she only needed a friend. Ashenfur is pushed out, and Foxfur kills the Dark Forest spirit for good.
Lightningheart wants to help the Clans forever, and realizes she can use her dreaming ability to enter the Dark Forest and destroy Duskfur's tunnel for good. She knows that this would kill her, but is still willing to do it. She sacrifices herself for the Clans, finding Stormy in the Dark Forest and bringing her to StarClan, guided by Rowan and Ravenwing. Because of Rowan's devotion to her daughter the way Clans try to be for their Clanmates, Rowan is offered and given a warrior's name by StarClan: Rowancloud.
Meanwhile, at the gathering, Petaldawn realizes the 'fall of dusk' and 'resolving smoke' refers to Smokesky, who serves as an example for the prophecy along with Snowcloud. The rogues who wish to join a Clan do so, and the remaining cats form the new nomadic HazeClan, which will travel through the valley. Waspstar, seeing as the only recent recruit to go back on their choice to join WaterClan was a Clan cat, defends this idea and stands up for the rogues.
Stag, Pearl, Smog, and the latter two's kits Twig, Beech, and Wren, join FireClan, being named Stagstrike, Shimmermist, Dustwhisker, Twigpaw, Beechpaw, and Wrenpaw, respectively. Pine joins WaterClan, being named Pinebark. Lake joins IceClan, being called Lakesplash.
Cloudfur (FC), Willowfrost (WC), and Hawkgaze (IC) decide to join HazeClan.
The Clans say farewell to HazeClan, who leave for Moonhill for Elk to get his nine lives and be named Elkstar, with Palefrost as his deputy and Oaken as his medicine cat. While waiting for his nine lives and watching over the rest of HazeClan, Palefrost meets Burr, who requests to join.

Beyond the Valley
Tumblr media
The Clans all take place within a valley. Beyond this valley is a vast prairie. There are many farms where twolegs plant grain. Notable is the endless horizon that leaves an impact on many Clan cats, who feel as though they are closer to the stars.

River
Tumblr media
Uniting the three Clans is the river. It runs through the Starry Cavern and forms the WaterClan borders to the other Clans.
All three Clans will fish, but only WaterClan will dive into the water to get deeper fish, as only WaterClan does not mind getting wet as much as the other Clans.
WaterClan also relies more on fishing for prey, as the lack of trees means less prey like squirrels or tree-dwelling birds.
Tumblr media
During leaf-bare, the river will only freeze over during the coldest of days.

Twolegplace
Beyond FireClan territory, beyond the Thunderpath, beyond the thicket, near Moonhill lies a relatively small Twolegplace. Twolegs live here, far enough from the Clans not to be a big problem. The bigger influence on the Clans this location offers are the kittypets.
Tumblr media
Being a place in between two more populous cities, along with the smaller population and relatively fresh air, the town has become home to a few notable cat breeders. These cat breeders set up their kittypets together according to set regulations. This is the completely wild, out of left field excuse I have for why so many of these kittypets aren't spayed or neutered.

Moonhill
Tumblr media
Every half-moon, the medicine cats of each Clan make a trip across the Thunderpath to get to Moonhill, a split in the valley as high as the plan outside of it.
Tumblr media
Getting to Moonhill takes a considerable amount of time, as the Thunderpath beyond FireClan and a dense thicket of thorns need to be crossed first. Then the hill must be climbed and rested atop. Any cat, not just medicine cats or even Clan cats, will dream of deceased cats at the peak of the Moonhill.

Starry Cavern
Tumblr media
The largest room in the middle of the cave has a tunnel at the top that allows moonlight and sunlight to shift through the room throughout day and night.
Tumblr media
Gatherings are held here every full moon, when the light of the moon is at its brightest. Each Clan knows their designated routes to navigate the tunnels to get to the gathering room. Apprentices are carefully taught not to get lost in the winding tunnels.
Tumblr media
Some rogues have been known to hide in some of the extra tunnels for shelter, or to hide from hostile Clan cats, but those instances tend to be rare as the cave system lies in between Clan territories.
Tumblr media
StarClan cats have been known to appear at gatherings, at moonhigh, when the cave is brightest. This usually occurs during times of prophecy to deliver prophecies to the Clans or encourage the Clans when the prophecy is wearing them down.

CLANS OF THE VALLEY is a fanfiction of Warrior Cats, a series made by Erin Hunter.
The three Clans of the valley surround a river that provides for each Clan. The area is loosely based on valleys in the prairie provinces of Canada, though plants and animals do not strictly adhere to this.
read it here! *writing began when I was 13, so the first arc writing quality is not as up to date as the second arc
