That’s probably true, Miss. But I feel like you probably know that she doesn’t go by that name. No one here knew it, except Jughead and possibly Delilah, and now you’ve put it publicly online. Do you honestly think she should be okay with that? She is an adult, after all.

“That makes sense. I can certainly see Owen as someone who would take pictures of his girl.” She could understand why this mother had worried about Sky. He was very sweet, but also gullible and needed a gentle touch. A happy ending for him wasn’t guaranteed. “The powerlessness was something I’d never experienced on that level before. I’m with the FBI, and even my shiny, powerful badge couldn’t help Violet. So Im just grateful beyond grateful that Sam bought her. She was fine with the school, at least that’s what she told me. But not she gets a lifetime of actually being happy.” She hadn’t said most of this aloud before, so hearing her own words made her smile. “Oh, yes, they’re very considerate in that regard. Vi and I can see each other pretty much whenever we want to as long as she doesn’t have other plans. And I can always go see her perform at the Evans House.”

“I love that he’s been sending pictures. He really seems to adore her, which I’m incredibly thankful for.” When she’d heard that Violet hadn’t found a claim, a week or so before her birthday, she’d completely deflated. She immediately gave up hope for her sister to have a good life. “I never felt so powerless, ehich was new for me. I came to try to make sure I’d at least know who bought her. I’m glad she’s good enough that the school bought her. It gave me time with her, and it bought time for Sam to arrange things. And now everything is great. I’m still kind of working on trusting in that.”
