the writing brain is like a pc from 2009. cpu overheating. fans screaming. 37 tabs open. microsoft word not responding. ideas buffering. and somehow there’s a minecraft launcher running in the background for no reason.

Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.

Hi, I noticed your story has conflict in it, and I was wondering why you didn't just write people who are right doing everything correctly with a note saying "I enthusiastically co-sign everything in this story"? Must be some kind of mistake haha

i personally love reading successful author wikis that all have a line in common akin to "write constantly, daily, even if it sucks; editing and inspiration comes later" because my immediate response is "ah! i should do that too" and then wait for the one night during the new moon only if it's rained in the last three days and if i've had enough caffeine to write

Truly the all time funniest writer thing is when you're doing edits and you think to yourself "omg I've got the PERFeCT sentence to add right here!" and then you stick it in all excited, only to find that literally three lines down you have virtually that exact same sentence in the draft already.
