i know pitting women against each other is bad and in the grand scheme of things these decisions were made by pr teams but something about deepika padukone staying genuine to her accent and not coaxing the audience with an overly fake british or american accent is so progressive for a culture who determines a persons education on how they speak when not using their mother tongue. and it makes me even sadder when deepika opened up about not taking u.s roles after xander cage because she wasn’t satisfied of the roles she was being offered and, the best part, many people assumed she didn’t speak a lick of english 🙂

the funniest part of simu liu’s “but it was white as hell” statement is that martin scorsese DID make a movie with an all asian cast in the 90s but its distributor deliberately sabotaged the movie’s release because china threatened to pull out of deals due to the movie’s portrayal of mainland china ………….the distributor was DISNEY.

the new defunctland video on the disney channel theme is incredible and everyone should go watch it but what really shocked me is the lengths disney goes to in order to erase the people behind their creative efforts so that they can present a homogenous front to their audience. like one of the disney actors says, when you create something for disney it belongs to disney. when you work for disney you are subsumed by it, there is no you in what you do. it’s such a soulless, corporate view of art, removing the humanity behind it and distilling it down to pure profitability. it’s no wonder disney is caught in a constant loop of reboots and remakes when that’s their entire creative approach
